SBC Chief Declares War On Google, Vonage

networkingpipeline.com — SBC CEO Edward Whitacre has declared war on Google and Vonage, among others. He told Business Week, "Now what they would like to do is use my pipes free, but I ain't going to let them." In other words, if the sites don't pay him an extortion fee, he'll block access to them.

  • blindfaith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0read the artcile, this guys a nut case, its like charging companies to put movies on their television station, or artist paying to put their music on the radio. As the article says, without sites like google, and "informatioN" that is the reason why we are here... Then no one would use their 'pipes' -- what a powertripping !%^&*. Get this to the front page, this is a good topic for diggnation!
  • Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SBC has been anti VOIP for awhile now...in order to have SBC DSL they REQUIRE some sort of phone service as well

    I am very happy with sbc's dsl...but if they end up blocking ANY sites I'll be calling as many times a day as I possibly can to complain...
