- dextrousm, on 11/11/2007, -5/+414Vague? Check. Unsourced? Check. It has my digg.
- baanzi, on 11/11/2007, -12/+275Watch Fox News buy out digg and make digg "fair and balanced".
- Okari, on 11/11/2007, -8/+270It would explain all these crappy updates and not fixing anything (comments).
- jynweythek, on 09/17/2008, -32/+289now we know why all those ron paul articles were buried on nov 5th.
- V1ncent, on 11/11/2007, -12/+245Raise your hands if it was sold and you'd stop coming here immediately rather than watch the decline
- DiggsOnlyJew, on 11/11/2007, -5/+217[AMAZING] The Top 28 pictures of Ron Paul digitally enhanced using GIMP on Ubuntu you'll see today [PIC]
- abran1984, on 11/13/2007, -14/+208Way to go Kevin - cash out!
- someguy9, on 11/11/2007, -18/+210if they sell, i prob wouldn't go the site anymore
- hfx392, on 11/13/2007, -18/+196Great. Digg was already on the decline, but I guess this seals the deal.
- sockpuppets, on 11/11/2007, -2/+179It's only 279 million if the buyer is Canadian.
- cyclopssmiley, on 11/11/2007, -7/+169*crosses fingers hoping it isn't Viacom*
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -9/+159I really wouldn't mind if Google bought it. Maybe they can improve the search and comment system.
- DeathJux, on 11/11/2007, -12/+161Nooooooooooooooooooooo...
- howdareyou, on 11/11/2007, -7/+145Way to go Kevin, Sarah Lane will come crawling back now.
- khpmli, on 11/11/2007, -2/+112I wonder which evil media corporation it is & how fast they ***** up this place
- coldman, on 11/11/2007, -13/+112google would be cool!
- sockpuppets, on 11/08/2007, -5/+104There's ads on Digg?
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -3/+96$300 Million USD? If I were Kevin I'd insist that they make out the check in Pesos instead of USD.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -9/+101Everyone will abandon this site the second it goes corporate.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 11/11/2007, -6/+88Kevin Rose can retire early now.
- puto, on 11/08/2007, -21/+100Who give a *****, Digg is censoring already.
- diggerydood, on 11/11/2007, -0/+74Pleeeease not Rupert Murdoch!!!!!!
- thedingman, on 11/08/2007, -1/+68You know, part of the reason I like Digg is that it's not some ass hole company who runs it. Imagine what the whole encription key thing would have been like if some media giant ran the site... They wouldn't have given to the users desires, but would have banned all the users and kept the content off.
I'm not sure if I can support Digg under different people, It's clear the site wouldn't be the same. - ngmcs8203, on 11/08/2007, -0/+61And these very obtrusive ads that expand if you hover over them. What happened to the nice snorg tees girls?
- sotopheavy, on 11/08/2007, -18/+78I can see Kevin Rose walking into a room with Chris Hansen.
Chris: What are you doing here
Kevin: I'm selling Digg for $300M
Chris: Why don't you have a seat.
Kevin: But I..
Chris: Take a seat. Have a seat. - tonaros, on 11/14/2007, -4/+53OHHH, DIS!
- ReturnToFreedom, on 11/08/2007, -2/+51This is just ***** wonderful. You can bet your ass any "major media player" will control this just like they control what's on CNN and FOX. They'll have filters up the wazoo for a myriad of topics they don't want the sheeple discussing.
- shaka776, on 11/08/2007, -2/+40Hey...Digg wouldn't be anywhere without us....
If this goes through, I want my cut! - tcpip4lyfe, on 11/10/2007, -2/+38Not always. (craigslist)
- duckfigg, on 11/08/2007, -0/+33bad, meet worse.
- G-RaZoR, on 11/08/2007, -2/+34I see what you did there, you registered as kevinross instead of kevinrose. Clever, clever indeed.
- benplaut, on 11/08/2007, -4/+36OK, where do we go from here? Reddit?
- sockpuppets, on 11/08/2007, -5/+37I've tried to keep this under wraps but the lolcat's out of the bag.
It's me. - MavRevMatt, on 11/08/2007, -2/+34Because that's logical.
- AAjax, on 11/08/2007, -10/+42True that, lets face it Digg aint what it used to be. 300 mill, with all respect Kevin... take the money and run. But dont forget to donate to Ron Paul otherwise that will be worth 30.000 in 18 months.
- PainToad, on 11/08/2007, -6/+37The death of yet another source of true (well as close as we get) free speech
- hafniOum, on 11/09/2007, -2/+32204 million if the buyer pays in €uro.
- OrangeTide, on 11/09/2007, -1/+29I remember the days when $300m was worth something.
- Wacer, on 11/08/2007, -3/+30Depends on who buys.
- jmpeagle, on 11/08/2007, -7/+33and yet you still use it
- theshizzler, on 11/08/2007, -0/+25I can't wait for sponsored articles on the front page.
- etruscan, on 11/08/2007, -2/+27I'll take two.
- qpn6ph9q, on 11/08/2007, -3/+28Don't you mean LOL?
- badboys213, on 11/11/2007, -4/+28FoxNews, FoxNews, c'mon FoxNews
*crosses fingers* - blapierre, on 11/08/2007, -3/+27I guess most people eventually sell out.
- Tomguruken36, on 11/08/2007, -0/+23Or Finally get a new TV....
- HerrEisenheim, on 11/08/2007, -0/+23It's an inevitability. That's what being part of the Web 2.0 bubble is all about. You get money from investors, but with the expectation that you will either: (a) sell to a larger company ; or (b) go public. That's how the investors make their money back. Look at YouTube. They poured about $8m per quarter into it for about 18 months, then sold it for $1.6B. That's a pretty nice return.
A site like Digg is probably at least 1/3rd "owned" by the investors. Just a guess, but what's true is that Digg has peaked. That is, it's profitable now—which is a good place to be and a place that many Web 2.0 sites *never* reach. The time is right to sell. - duckfigg, on 11/08/2007, -2/+25for $300 million, he'll cope.
- BevansDesign, on 11/08/2007, -0/+22I just know that if it's owned by Rupert Murdoch, that instantly taints it and destroys it.
