- doiveo, on 12/02/2008, -1/+38Google needs competition. I hope this works.
- g0tistt0t, on 12/03/2008, -0/+19Harvey Dent? Gotham's White Knight... Yes, he is our only hope
- kivab4b, on 12/02/2008, -3/+19But $22 a share may be lower than what it is worth. Yahoo has suffered in the search game but is still a very successful portal.
- subliminalurge, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10Actually, finance.yahoo.com is still one of the better sites for keeping track of the stock market. I also still prefer their IM over AOL's or MS's.
Other than those two segments, yeah, not a whole lot of usefulness to be found at yahoo. - motang, on 12/02/2008, -2/+11Their email is really good.
- imasuperDOTcom, on 12/03/2008, -4/+11I'm surprised you're not getting Dugg down.
Although I completely agree with you, usually making a comment on digg that could remotely be considered negative towards google ends in the death of the OP. - unsigneddigger, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7Well, your comment doesn't serve a purpose on the internet, but it didn't stop you from making it.
- Macberto, on 12/03/2008, -1/+8hmm... yahoo.com is down for me at the moment. coincidence?
- kalleanka, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5I agree, Yahoo have very many great assets like Yahoo News/Finance/Sports/Mail/Messenger etc.
It's still number one on display ads on internet so how they somehow can work out a deal that keeps them in the search game.
Believe me, we do NOT want to have a monopoly situation on the internet with only Google around. See what it did to MS when they got monopoly on the client side. - hirro, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5People still use yahoo mail... why? Oh, you mean your junk mail account right?
- j3ff86, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5How is babby plane formed? How plane get pragnent?
- D3koy, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5Is that where baby planes come from?
- twertyto, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5Saying google needs competition is not a negative comment by any means. It's positive. Competition is good for the market so that companies don't become complacent among other things.

- diggdatt, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4I hope they do go private. I dont want M$ to buy out Yahoo. Yahoo does some good things still (yahoo pipes, yahoo answers, plus they have some other good sites), I dont care for their ads, but I use adblock.
- cyrusuncc, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4The black knight always prevails!
- 0crabby0, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4"Blue Horseshoe loves Yahoo"

- strictnein, on 12/03/2008, -1/+4Back up now. And just in time for me to read about "Supermodels' strict diets".
- vl002001, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3am i the only one in the world who still uses myyahoo?
their sports scoreboard is unparalleled - kevnaca, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3I can't get into my Yahoo mail. ERRR!
- randyzaia, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2This is the most dubious story I've ever heard. Jonathan Miller wasn't able to raise $1 billion for his fund let alone $20-$30 billion to buy Yahoo.
- Darren07, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3Yes, the massive traffic from Ars brought down Yahoo.
- fdiaz83, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Not necessarily. The company's revenue is estimated to SHRINK by about 9%, while the rest of the industry (Google, MSN, etc) are estimated to grow by roughly 7% over the next quarter. The annual growth estimates are little better, but YHOO needs a savior now. With stock prices at around $11 a share and the company's assets alone worth about $3.54 a share, I think $22 a share is very optimistic. That's about $10-11 premium over today's closing price.
YHOO's best bet would be to sell off it's news business, Flickr, Games, and Search to concentrate on generating ads for websites. - xmonster, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2must be back down again... isn't working for me
- TheMachine1, on 12/03/2008, -2/+4Only a Black Knight who sold his soul to Satan has a chance to save that company.
- kingofinternet, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3... but the black knight abducted yahoo before he had the chance.
- nazsco, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2who cares about their search engine? same number of people that cares for you uninformed comment i think
- MonsterChaOS, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Still down here, has been for quite some time.
- thejokker, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2im in at $10/share so plan looks good to me.
- BrokenVisage, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2"What's YOUR fat ass doing here?"
- kevnaca, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2No it's for real mail, I use Hotmail for spam. The spam filter is pretty good. It's been reliable.
- redwallhp, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Don't forget Del.icio.us and Flickr!
- noobstomp, on 12/03/2008, -2/+3Personally i think google strives in innovation and diversity I dont think they need competition...Right now. im sure one day they will begin to slack off but as for right now i dont think they have that problem at all
- Darren07, on 12/03/2008, -3/+4Right... that'll make their search engine better.
- Thomasaka, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Yeah.. if you like REALLY slow webmail (both the web app itself and the mail delivery)
- kevnaca, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2NVM. It's back up.
- cowman1208, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I use the my yahoo for sports too... but otherwise I am a google user.
- benologist, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2How do they strive in innovation and diversity? Most of the interesting stuff they do comes from buying interesting companies like every other corporation and then building on an already-innovative product.
The stuff they do by themselves has potential, Chrome, Android etc, but it's yet to be seen if they'll really reach that potential. - diggduggDOOM, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Why's it gotta be a racial/medieval thing?
- redwallhp, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I don't want *** Time Warner to buy another web company. For awhile I didn't think much of Yahoo, but they've lately been doing some interesting things, and they own some web properties (Del.icio.us for one) I like.
AOL is one of my least favorite web companies, and I don't want to see them nab Yahoo. - inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I totally agree, Google needs competition, before they top out, become Microsoft, become irrelevant, and begin the downhill slide. Competition keeps up the edge.
- DulcetTone, on 12/03/2008, -1/+1Bad move-- Yahoo should be allowed to die as a public company, surrounded by its friends.
- directoryweb, on 01/19/2009, -0/+0AOL Execs have a reall god track record for turning things around. *cough*
Yahoo is slowly collapsing under its own failure to adapt. With a new CEO, we will see if things change. - klinking123, on 01/27/2009, -1/+0replays http://fighterreplays.com
