- leontes, on 10/21/2008, -1/+8You know, maybe you should have taken Microsoft's offer of 31 bucks a share? Do you think now, now that you are 12.86, that might have been a pretty decent deal?
- blangley, on 10/21/2008, -0/+6I really want Yahoo to do well as they offer a free 'ecosystem' of mail, search (image, video etc), news page. Not a lot of companies doing that well at the moment.
- iamichi, on 11/12/2008, -4/+10I bet that offer of $33 per share for Yahoo sounds pretty good now, doesn't it, Mr. Yang!!! :-)
- Aroundtown27, on 10/21/2008, -2/+7cost-cutting moves as part of cost cutting moves?
Maybe cutting some of the redundancies would be a good start - mongrel, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4All Yahoo communication, all Google search.
- iamichi, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3Pray tell... What did you ask?
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2When Yahoo goes, so goes the nation....
- Hockey13, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2It's probably not going to die. It has many useful functions. They just need to strip down some of the excesses in hard times or find a new way to make money.
- shaneglass, on 10/21/2008, -2/+4Who'da thunk that 'cost-cutting moves' could ever be considered part of 'cost-cutting moves'?
- GOVATENT, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Hard Gay: "Yahooooooooo!"
(If you don't know who hard gay is (not what hard gay is) go google him) - Wrangler76, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3Gotta love all the pompous morons here saying that Jerry is an idiot for not taking that deal because he thought he could get more for the company. Obviously he had to say that for the press, but do you honestly think that Jerry and those on Yahoo's board were the only ones in the world who didn't realize that they would be getting the best deal they could get? Obviously, they had other reasons to decline the deal.
Unless, you're a shareholder, you shouldn't have any reason to be so spiteful. Even if you are, maybe you should've gotten out at around $30 less than half a year ago.
PS They are still the #1 most visited website in the world for those consistently asking: "who uses yahoo anymore?" Obviously, more people than you think. - fireashes, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2I use yahoo but give my money to google for searching.
- 2Bnor2B, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Yahoo is already disintegrating. They sold off the music and recently the are transferring user's domain ownership to their business unit. I expect their business division will split off next and become a server farm and domain registry which could be brought out by someone. By time it is over there will be nothing left to the Yahoo name for anyone to buy.
- eatupmartha, on 10/21/2008, -3/+4here come all the Yahoo hating geniuses in 1.. 2..
- oxymonkey, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1the only "useful functions" : flickr (where people upload picture of kittens) LOL.
- ButterLoyalist, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1I can't say, digg might ban me too :(
- CharlesSaint, on 10/21/2008, -2/+3Way to be Jerry Yang, I'm glad those hardball tactics are working so well for the company.
- kishosingh, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Not only Yahoo but also all the companies panning about cost-cutting. In this series Jet Airways had done this thing 1st http://careeronweb.blogspot.com/2008/10/jet-airway ... but it was not successful. Like this Yahoo is only planning now not doing that things.
- johnny81, on 02/13/2009, -0/+0well yahoo has done it in past too.
http://www.linkbuilderz.com/linkbuilding/ - Tyrghast, on 10/21/2008, -2/+2Cutting the cost cutting moves to cut costs? Sounds like a plan.
- mecharabbit, on 10/21/2008, -1/+1Bubble Burst 2.0?
- Layoffgossip, on 10/22/2008, -0/+0So people getting laid off or afraid of layoffs need a voice, LayoffGossip.com
- regeya, on 10/21/2008, -3/+2Wow, no tangible product, advertising supported, no specific corporate direction...hm. Wonder why they're failing?
Sad, really, because they really do have some top-notch talent there at Yahoo!
Shocking that none of the Randroids have blamed it on the Federal Reserve (which, btw, I stubbed my toe this morning, and burned Bernancke in effigy for causing that accident in my warm, cozy debt-slave home...after all, if it hadn't been for that debt, I wouldn't have had the door jamb to stub my toe on, the heartless bastards...) - maus56, on 10/21/2008, -3/+1This is news?
- SitPoMk, on 10/21/2008, -3/+1*****
- magamiako, on 10/21/2008, -4/+1They really should have taken Microsoft's offer. Now they're going to die and fizzle out.
- Stagle, on 10/21/2008, -5/+0who even uses yahoo anymore?
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -6/+1Yahoo needs to get lost.... They are worthless.. Google is the almighty, bow down and bend over cause its all about the land rover...
- ButterLoyalist, on 10/21/2008, -6/+1Why does Yahoo suck? Oh I don't know, maybe it's because of their censorship practices that don't exist with Google? (I got banned from yahoo because I posted a controversial question on Yahoo Answers, and they deleted my entire yahoo account.)
- regularsteven, on 10/21/2008, -7/+2who here uses anything but yahoo? (well, google)
- oxymonkey, on 10/20/2008, -8/+2die yahoo die!
- tessant, on 10/21/2008, -8/+1oy vey!
