- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26flag564: Note that this is in the "Tech Deals" category. You can easily disable it, which takes less effort than complaining here and ending up looking like an idiot.
- Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6you posted a digg with ipod AND ubuntu and it only got 4 diggs?? digg must have been down that day.
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Apple refurbs are really nice too. I bought two 30GB 5G iPods recently (for $199 each), and they were in perfect shape, and simply shipped in a brown cardboard box. All the accessories were brand new, and it appears that the front and rear cases of the iPods are brand new, perhaps it's just the guts that are recycled from the previous owner.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7whoa that's 1/2 price...
and $179 for a 30gb video is less than a new 2gb nano. - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44gb iPod Minis are now only $99 as well.
- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just sell it on ebay. There's a strong market for all Apple products there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bah, i'm an idiot. I just bought a used 30gb yesterday from a guy who was upgrading to a 80gb, and I paid the same price as the refurbished one. Shoulda waited a day =(
- UncleCrapper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can confirm that refurbished iPods are a great value as I only have refurbished units, including a my first iPod, a refurbished second generation 2 GB unit that is four years old and continues to work just fine. Cosmetically and functionally every unit I have bought appears brand spanking new, so it doesn't make sense to buy new.
The 30 GB was C$229 on the Apple Canada web store until recently and now they have marked them down to C$209, which is an incredible deal from the original $349. I think the the best value is the 60 GB versions, which were C$329 reburbished but are now C$259. All units are complete with warranties, so if you don't have an iPod why not get one? - sparkrainfir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2in 6 months everyone is an idiot, i'm the old school idiot with a 30gb 4gen (i put the 30gb in it)
- JimmyLin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow nice, I just hope they'll do the same to the 4gb model...
Obviously the new 8gb model won't be sold refurbished :P What a shame... - orijinal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2actually revmitcz, my old 5G now has a brightness control setting. but yes, it plays the new resolution videos, but no search feature.
- underwearman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2does anyone know if the old 5 gens play the new resolution the apple store made. is it all that we need is the software update?
- ahill7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2damn....and i just bought a first gen Nano for the price of that refurb 5th gen 30gb Video.
looks like i'll have to get another ipod :-) - JimmyLin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/2.RSLID?mco=32DAAC51&nclm=Certified
That is the main page for refurbished iPods. - dynacrylic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3should you want to read the post regarding my first time ever using an ipod it's here: http://digg.com/linux_unix/My_first_iPod_experience_and_it_was_on_Ubuntu
- dynacrylic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3?? Wow !!
I bought an refurbished iPod Shuffle a couple of weeks ago for $49 and love it (I wrote about my first iPod experience with Ubuntu and submitted it but it only got 4 diggs) . Now I feel cheated a little because that nano seems like a much better deal than my shuffle. - jefferson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2cheap on the canadian store and for some reason the 2gig is 6$ cheaper then the 1gig huh?

www.millennium3000.com
I bought mine 2 months ago and now the lower the price by $10, I think it is $99 now.
Hope it help you bob - revmitcz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the software update gives you almost all the new features of the "enhanced" 5G that Apple announced yesterday. Only the brightness control and the "search" features are disabled for older 5G iPods. But, who knows if they'll add either/both of those shortly. The important thing is the movies and games - those work fine :)
- akiyba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still waiting on a price drop for 1st gen 1GB Shuffles. They are currently the same price as a brand new 2nd gen Shuffle.
- bobsaget06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like as of 12/26 they are sold out. of the Nanos. Damn!
- cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2can someone post the link where the 30 gig video is $179.. when I go to this link its listed as $249
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Scroll down further.
- Rmillerick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I wonder if Apple does a strong disk wipe when they refurbish the 30GB and 60GB versions. It might be interesting just to buy one to see what was left on the drive from the previous user.
Just take the drive out, and use a data recovery program to fish out "erased" data.
Heck, you may even be able to do it without even removing the drive from the iPod. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1It's not disable-able via rss.
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -43/+4In other pressing news:
A 1993 Chevy Corcia is being sold for $900.00 by a nice old lady that only drove it on Sundays. Needs brake work and the right side mirror sometimes gets stuck.
Call between 5:00 and 9:00.
I guess now that Digg is the classified ads apparently.
