Here's all screenshots in one image.
http://www.prntscrn.net/img.php?img=GoogleCL2.png - soliver87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35Anyone know when it's planning on being released? I want to mark it down in my outlook calendar...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Looks like it will be integrated into GMail - the layout is the same. Can't wait!
- muzzamo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I think what geeks really like about gmail isn't that it is 2gig+ or that it runs through a web browser, it is the quality, support & improvement that come with this sort of application through google. They just seem to have a knack of thinking about the software and delivering consistent improvements in key areas that matter, and quickly. Its their methodology that brings about all this. Think of the extra things (chat?) that have been added since gmail was released. Why didn't microsoft implement msn chat directly in hotmail over the last 10 years when they could have? Apart from wanting to keep people away from the web, i suspect the reason lies in the way their company is structured & the way projects are run. No direct business case = no development. At google, the opposite seems to be true.
Compare gmail with the last time hotmail was "upgraded". Has it got better since? No, it has gotten worse - more spammy, more adds, etc etc.
If google release google calander and there are limitations then i suspect in their 1 day of personal project time each week or through the open discussion that occurs inside the googleplex i suspect that they will be rapidly solved, and we will end up with a quality app just like gmail that will continue to improve. They wil approach the calander truely innovatively, building on their strengths, just like how they approach everything else.
This is why I think CL2 will be good, not because it is "a calander in a browser".... - mdmoya, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20CL = 150 in Roman numerals. Maybe they . . . Yeah, I got nothing.
- Gundam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11This would be great if I could somehow make Sunbird on my PC and iCal on my Mac sync with this and update it when done.
Alas, it will probably not come to be. - UnseenLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The new Go software from Yahoo! allows you to synch mail / address book / and calendar from your Yahoo account to your Nokia phone. Any changes made either from the phone or on the web will be synched! I've been using it with my 6682 the past week and I must say it rocks. The software is integrated with the 6682's software so that it seems seamless.
I could see Google coming out with software that would allow you to do this. - TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Techcrunch is a very reputable site. I seriously doubt these are fake...
- TripinVA, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I use www.30boxes.com for my calendar. I think even if Google releases a calendar I'll stick with it, just because I've got my entire schedule in 30boxes and it works really well.
- jerclark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Anyone know what CL2 means?
- Thud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Google's calendar will let you schedule things a billion years in the future. Most other calendars are only good for a couple millenia.
- salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Actually, the big black ugly logo leads me to think they are genuine. Were it to be faked, the forger would have tried to replicate one of google's other logos, not put something that's so obviously out of place.
Personally I can't wait - a useable calendar on my google-home, google-mail, and no doubt google-talk (or google desktop). Hell yeah. - meatypuffs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Looks pretty slick. I wonder if you can import an existing Outlook calendar into it. Also, any word on being able to sync it up with a cell phone's calendar/datebook? Would be nice to be able to schedule an appointment on my cell phone's datebook and then be able to sync that datebook up with my CL2 via bluetooth or whatever.
- kashi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12knowing google it's some high math encoded message on how to take over the world :o)
- tetfsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In Kevin speak...
"A friend of mine" = "me (Kevin)" or
"my friend used to" = "I (Kevin) used to" or
"my friend got the new beta..." = "I (Kevin) got the new beta..."
You get the point. - nosnhojm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Where else would you link when you have unofficial photos?
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually Google's been slacking off in the interface design department lately. Have you seen Google Video?
- d0zy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I assumed it stood for
CaLendar v2.0
v1 being what everybody has been use to using before google's calendar system - sanjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5doesnt seem fake to me.
and whats to say that the logo wont change from the beta to the final release? - ralphmalph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yep and Yahoo also had e-mail for quite a long time before G-Mail came out - but G-Mail was way, way better. My money says that this will be better too.
- br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4
I saw a comment about google reinventing the wheel ..
I don't know if you guys have been inside a goodyear before, but they're constantly reinventing wheels .. (ok, tires.. big deal)
The point is that there is almost always a better way to do something, whether it's making it faster, more efficient or simply just easier (or funner) to use.
I've checked out lots of online calenders and 30boxes seems to be the closest to what feels right to me, but it's still not the end all solution, perhaps CL2 will bring something better to the table compared to other online systems like it.
That may be a reinvention of the wheel, but if the new wheel is better.. why does it matter? - kolcun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.techcrunch.com.nyud.net:8080/2006/03/08/exclusive-screenshots-google-calendar/
Coral cache worked for me - garbelini, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It certainly does not look like a fake. Why do you need a generic google logo if you are an engineer working inside google labs? Applications almost always have fake logos and weird names when they are being born.
- l0ne, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I'd love to use it -- if I could sync it with iCal through DAV. Take this, .Mac!
- MitchCumstein, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Based on one of the screenshots it appears to support iCal subscriptions.
- toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm in love with 30boxes too, but this google cal seems to have everything 30b does, and as said before, if it's intergrated into my beloved Gmail account, well there's little reason for me not to switch over. Especially if the google cal suppports iCal, then I can just export from 30b, and into google cal.
Here's hoping it works as well, if not better than 30boxes - overseerbrian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I hope that it will integrate with www.google.com/ig
- jtdgrz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The author says it seems far from release...
- CyBrShRk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh man...I hope I can sync my Axim with this. Goodbye Outlook hello Google.
- sexburger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Looks like you're right:

MSG SIZE rcvd: 123 - uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3$10 says it's branded as GCal by the time it's released.
- hanshasuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is true. Yahoo has been ahead of Google forever as far as a feature complete online productivity suite.
But yet Google has been the one building the strong reputation for some time now... It's gotta be about usability. I find GMail simpler and faster to use. The same thing may be true of CL2. Who knows. - albrad84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Its a beta test. I highly doubt its going to have that logo when it goes public. In fact, it'll probably just be called Google Calendar.
Those screenshots look too real to be fake.
But anyway, I can't wait for this to come out. I've been waiting for something like this for a while. I know there are other options out there, but I just really want one that integrates with Gmail. - nerd2nerd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You can see the (beta) login:
http://www.google.com/cl2
Looks like they'll use this address (already mappend in DNS); if logged-in to gmail, takes you to your inbox:
http://calendar.google.com/ - marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Keep it simple stupid. Don't question Googles interface knowlegde. Remember how search pages looked like before Google?
- snowboarder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3a portable calender... get it ?
- recursive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes. You could similarly ask what's the big deal about a search engine, email service, maps, etc. The big deal is that people find them useful.
- SATURN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think I saw an "ICAL" button on there... that's pretty cool that Google has decided to support iCal.
- Saintlink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I can't wait also. I've been loving gmail from day 1. It navigates faster than MS office on my hardrive. Let's face it, google and ajax rocks your world. Compared with yahoo's annoying ads, google kicks them all in the shins. Release it already! :D

At the bottom it says, "If you know the address to a calendar (in iCal or ATOM format), you can type in the address here" - celeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I use airset because it can be configured to send notifications of appointments to my cell via SMS and it's also able to sync with outlook etc... and best of all it's free (minus what your carrier charges for receiving sms messages)
- sarge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like the SMS notification feature - that would be very handy
- hanshasuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is the single biggest reason I use Backpack right now. (www.backpackit.com) If Google calendar does this, I will be hard pressed not to switch.
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I so cannot wait for this to drop. I also hope that Google releases a mobile app like Google Mobile that will let me use it on my phone. That would be so freaking sweet.
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hahaha... I don't know but hopefully soon. There's been some talk about this for a while so I imagine it'll be rolling out soon since the screenys are comin out.
- supermn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'll take that bet. I'm thinking it'll be the full "GCalendar." GCal seems too close to iCal and Google hasnt shortened anything else: GMal, GVid, GEart. :)
- norick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It would be great if it can synchronize with pda, if not i don't have the utility, my pda is fine for that.
