Real-time Shuttle Bus Tracking in Google Earth

gearthblog.com — If you have Google Earth you can visit this story and watch 6 shuttle buses around Johns Hopkins U. as they travel about campus. The buses also have Internet access, so if you're on the bus you could watch yourself in GE! The area is in high-resolution, so you can see lots of detail. The buses only move between 1700 and 0300 EST.

  • wikked1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It only runs during certain hours, but the shuttles definitely were moving. Google Earth an awesome application. One of the interesting parts of the shuttle project is that since the shuttle buses have internet access, you can actually run Google Earth on the shuttle bus. This means when you turn on the restaurants layer in Google Earth, you can find a place to eat at your current location. Google Earth provides a powerful way of displaying information, and being able to access that information while "on the road" is definitely the key.

    I'm guessing this isn't really going to work well right now since it's probably about 1am there.. but I can see the busses on there, they just dont move :)
