- OBKenobi, on 10/30/2007, -3/+58I'm sure Digg's exposure on USA Today will bring in many more intelligent new members to Digg.
(sarcasm) - sjbdallas, on 10/25/2007, -1/+33Hope too many folks aren't disappointed when they come in here and see that we DIGG Apple, Ron Paul, 9/11 lies, Xbox and hot chicks.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -3/+15people in the know?
Buried for inaccuracy. - vroom101, on 10/25/2007, -2/+12From the article (left sidebar)...
Q: How is Digg doing?
A: We have 2 million registered members ... and 200 million monthly page views. That's at Digg. We also syndicate our content to other sites -- those Digg buttons that appear all over the Web. Those buttons attract 1 billion impressions monthly, and are growing at 100 million a month. - misterpony, on 10/25/2007, -5/+13There's no where to go but up.
- Satanael, on 10/25/2007, -5/+12Lets see if this can raise the age demographic a little bit.
- tokyomonster, on 10/25/2007, -1/+8Wow apparently diggnation is taped with a laptop webcam. I didn't know they made those in HD too..
/rolls eyes - illu45, on 10/25/2007, -1/+7As much of a Digg fan as I am, quantity of members is rarely a good measurement of how good a site is. So long as at least a few hundred people are around to vote for stories and keep the site's mechanism working, the amount of visitors is really irrelevant. You could even argue that too many members is a bad thing, as it becomes more difficult to promote stories that go against the communities 'norms'.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/25/2007, -0/+6OiNK, Ubuntu, and Pics
- Topher06, on 10/31/2007, -2/+8Wow, USA Today is a little late to the game in reporting on the phenom that is social bookmarking. Better late then never. Next they will be reporting on something called "My Space" I can't wait to read it....
...and they wonder why newspaper subscriptions are falling. - inactive, on 10/25/2007, -0/+4Naw, nobody reads USA Today. They just look at the pictures.
- doktorrocket, on 10/25/2007, -2/+5The second comment (chronologically) on the USA Today article itself is about Ron Paul.
I'd say any new members will fit right in. - Gambit89, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I too would like to browse my history. I'm having some trouble at pages that aren't loading the data, but I can sort of browse through past dugg items by manually editing the URL. So, I should be able to go to page 50 of my account by going to /users/Gambit89/history/page50 (it isn't working for me at the moment). I can get to your page 69 just fine though, and see that /tech_news/A_weapon_against_telemarketing_Finally_ was your first digg on October 25, 2005. Wonder why it doesn't work for me (I'm getting whitespace where the articles should be) ...
- 0crabby0, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3And pie charts, don't forget the pie charts...
- CraigJ, on 10/25/2007, -1/+4USA Today: always on top of current issues! Seriously, who reads newspapers anymore? I guess a lot of people, but really, what's the point? The news is a day old when you get the things. The only thing newspapers are good for are killing trees...
- Bdog2g2, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3I dugg you down. Did I meet my quota?
- yosempai, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3I didn't know that Diggnation uses a HD laptop webcam!
- rinks, on 10/25/2007, -1/+4Nice, usatoday is always ahead of the curve. Next: "The iPod popular music player among the young and hip".
- undy242, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I'm glad to see a broader audience catching on. Hopefully, this will change how most people get their news because the everyday venues for news coverage are pathetic and horrible void of good content.
- deeboe, on 10/25/2007, -1/+3Luckily they will be able to hide their ignorance by using tactics like "(sarcasm)" in their posts.
- simpleid, on 10/31/2007, -2/+4no, you could always go down, it only takes one very pissed off hacker. :-)
however unlikely... - chad78, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3I just hope they report on this World Wide Web that I hear people talking about. It's supposed to be some kind of "Information Superhighway". Imagine - having engaging intellectual conversations with scholars around the world! It could usher in a utopia of the free exchange of ideas!
- chad78, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2I, for one, welcome our new Newspaper Reading overlords
- chad78, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Did anyone else notice the "Share this Story" "Mixx it" link at the bottom? LOL. I mean, really, if you are going to do a story on digg - and you are going to link to one of their (lesser known? - I've never heard of it, and I'm apparently one of the "people in the know") competitors - at least make the digg button a little easier to find!
- chukkie, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1haha prettty sure they're not being filmed by a webcam...
- BarbaraKolbe, on 10/24/2007, -1/+2No mention of the site changes? Can we not agree some of the increase in traffic had to be many of us here trying to figure out the changes to the new system?
- chad78, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1you, sir, are why women fear to reveal their gender on the Internet
- tech42er, on 10/25/2007, -1/+2I think you mean the mode (greatest frequency).
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1More people burying would probably help more.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1Please don't feel the need to ***** on the incredible accomplishments of some really cool people. If you don't like Digg there's always Reddit, stumble upon, and a whole bunch of other ***** copycats that could not come up with an idea of their own- so they created a cheap knock-off of there own with a few bells and whistles made to appear to you as "improvements". Proctor and Gamble really new how to spin ***** by creating New and Improved Tide.
My questions is? What's wrong with the Original Tide? Is anyone even aware that you cannot get original Tide anymore?
Digg has done something fantastic and original- they have given you your voice's back and they don't tell you how to ***** talk. How cool is that. Think about it.
And It must be said- that until you actually enjoy the honor of spending time in the presence of the creators of Digg.com- you really have no right to badmouth them or attempt to indicate they are press whores- nothing could be further from the truth- if you spent time with them you would know this- beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I am and always will be- a very proud "digger".
We have a "burn it all" guy running the show with his finger on the button and we are dangerously close to losing our voices entirely- so take a moment and get some ***** "grateful"... And for all of you "poser" intent on buying up great ideas and passing them off as your own???? Pay these people what they are worth- which in my opinion is far more money than you have! But a true attempt is a step in the right direction. - tech42er, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1Digg's eternal September?
- chad78, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Have you ever taken a look at the time stamp on these digg stories. First, the story has to happen - obviously - then someone has to write about it (that takes some time) then publish it, then a digger has to find it, submit it, spell check it (hey - we can dream, huh?) and then it takes a while to get on the front page. This story was in the upcoming section for about 13 hours before more than 50 people saw it. Effectively a day old. Yes, the Internet is faster - but unless you get your "news" from Ron Paul's Twitter account (and God, I hope he doesn't have one), then it's not instant news, either.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Can anyone, ahem, dig up that old demographics survey on digg? I believe the average age was listed as 14.
- MacEnvy, on 10/25/2007, -2/+2They do in Korea.
/old meme - scronline, on 10/31/2007, -2/+2People in the know? How do you classify if you're "in the know" or not? I mean really, I've been getting more and more annoyed with the articles that people are digging. It could be argued that "people in the know" realize how pathetic digg is getting due to the social aspect of "oh, my friend posted something. So what if it's lame, I'll digg it up because they are my friend"
- Churbs, on 10/24/2007, -0/+0i can't tell if thats a good thing.
- locojones, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Yeah, why would we want New York Times readers and their informed, educated opinions to taint the emotional, shoot from the hip, wannabes who fill this site with the garbage that makes it to the front page everyday?
- ikesauto, on 10/25/2007, -2/+1The layout makes the difference
- chad78, on 10/26/2007, -2/+1OiNK? for like 1 story. OiNK is NOT on the level with Ubuntu. He also forgot the iPhone, which I know is Apple - but comon - it's like Chuck Norris, it's its own universe.
Speaking of Chuck Norris, diggers love him, too. And images that have been enhanced using Adobe (tm) Photoshop (tm) software. - nolan0495, on 10/25/2007, -2/+0Cool!
- se7en11, on 10/25/2007, -4/+2I'm in the know now. I've got my world news done for the day: http://www.ukimagehost.com/uploads/05e2120dc4.jpg
http://digg.com/celebrity/Pikachu_s_Vagina_Brings_ ... - chad78, on 10/25/2007, -3/+1like,ZOMG! like WTFBBQ! NO WAi!!!!11!!1!!one!!!!!!2eleaven11!
14, 4 realz? I would have thought 12, at the oldest! Wait, that was the AVERAGE age - I want to know the median. That's probably 12. - Matteos, on 10/24/2007, -4/+1Yeah we have enough already.
- Bawk, on 10/25/2007, -6/+1The next step is to get all these 5.6 million people to actually DIGG SOMETHING!
- lucidguru, on 10/25/2007, -8/+2With 5.6 million visitor is September Digg pwns Reddit, Stumble, and Del.icio.us
Digg FTW - DiggRyan24, on 10/24/2007, -9/+3Good thing its in USA Today and not the New York Times... wouldn't want any of those readers on Digg!
- typicalusername, on 10/25/2007, -7/+1Did anyone say "What the *****!? Great, we're gonna get Soccer Moms on here!"in their brain? I know I did. No to Soccer Moms, unless they're hot and swingers!
- xskydivex, on 10/25/2007, -8/+1Nice story on USATODAY. Keep on digging! :)
