- jayadelson, on 11/11/2008, -24/+351Businesses survive if they make hard decisions. Just like a television network, shows get canceled, people leave as a result. These are my friends and it's never easy, but for Revision3 to succeed I'm sure there will be other hard decisions in the future as well.
The reality of the business is what is in this release: Business is doing great. Revenue and CPMs are unlike anyone else in the business, and audiences are responding well to the shows. I'd rather have a Revision3 in a position of strength and self-monetizing than one on a shoestring, I'm sure you'd agree.
Congrats to Revision3, we're rooting for you. - Kylde, on 11/11/2008, -44/+254yet they've fired people and cancelled shows?
- RMoore08, on 11/11/2008, -1/+124Please do something with PixelPerfect. Give it back to PixelCorps or something...
Please. - jayadelson, on 11/11/2008, -0/+98Stay tuned. You'll be very pleased.
- Pct1theory, on 11/11/2008, -4/+77I want my internet superstar.
(and the rev3 store c'mon!) - TheDarkTipper, on 11/12/2008, -1/+72Hopefully Web Drifter will return. It was one of the most creative and enjoyable shows I have ever watched.
- sonictonic, on 11/12/2008, -0/+59Bring Sarah Lane back, Louderback.
- jesseber, on 11/12/2008, -4/+59CAPS LOCK
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -10/+63Revision 3 business plan
1. Fire employees and cancel shows
2. ???
3. PROFIT!! - jayadelson, on 11/11/2008, -1/+42I know Martin is working on it still, but you should ask him.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -2/+40More Web Drifter!!!!!!
- kawaiirobo, on 11/12/2008, -6/+43I love Rev3, but I want Martin Back. Please?
- zjordan04, on 11/12/2008, -2/+38In the words of Martin himself...
EAT A DICK LOUDERBACK - bbcoburn, on 11/12/2008, -0/+32I agree about PixelPerfect. I watched it mainly because I thought Bert was a cool guy; not necessarily because I want to be a photoshop expert. That show needs to be around in some form. It's the Bob Ross for a new generation. I want my happy clouds, goddamit!
- history1me, on 11/12/2008, -1/+31Web Drifter is amazing!! Go Marty!
- arraz, on 11/12/2008, -2/+31Record numbers, Record layoffs.
- jayadelson, on 11/12/2008, -2/+30I also am a huge fan of Martin, Jay, Sarah, Moujan, and the whole crew. Believe me...I'm probably the biggest fan of all.
- birch25, on 11/12/2008, -13/+40this doesn't mean every one of their shows got good ratings over the past year
- jayadelson, on 11/12/2008, -0/+27Well, as a founder of Revision3, I can tell you our intent, always, was to be able to deliver unmitigated content, unrestricted, as deep into a particular vertical that we wanted to, and still make a viable business out of it.
The challenge was that Hollywood/television/studios claimed only the mainstream hits would be able to monetize. I believe we're proving that this isn't the case. Our CPMs alone prove that media buyers feel that direct access to our viewers, using this "Ed Sullivan" approach, is better than traditional video ads.
Just watch...We'll prove this isn't just a flash in the pan, this is the future of video programming. - brad016, on 11/12/2008, -2/+28ya bring back "Martin Sargent"...center of my 'funny' universe, seriously, I need him back, I'm decomposing here
- sockpuppets, on 11/12/2008, -2/+25Needs more porn.
- nshady, on 11/12/2008, -6/+28More Ctrl+Alt+Chicken please.
- qbthemc, on 11/12/2008, -1/+22That is what happens when Alex Albrecht touches your leg.
- Ryudo2k9, on 11/12/2008, -0/+18Meh been getting less interested in the shows last few months as they get away further from the core fans,I know it's business and all but still feels like another g4 kick to the face.
- tuxerware, on 11/12/2008, -0/+16Revision3 should have a gadget review show, i keep turning to cnet tv for that. I know Tekzilla does some reviews but a pure gadget review show would be awesome. It could be a weekly episode, or a 5minute daily like the Giz wiz (thats GIZ WIZ kevin!)
- sundby, on 11/12/2008, -1/+16With the economy problems currently going on it makes perfect sense to cancel the least popular shows and lower your costs a bit for a few years going forward. I'd rather that they keep improving their most popular shows and survive the economy crisis so they can keep bringing us new shows in the future.
- Nero9171, on 11/12/2008, -2/+17Lol, they said penetration.
- spectre51, on 11/12/2008, -0/+14Rev3 is amazing. I watch more shows from Rev3 than regular TV. Keep up the good work guys!!!
- digg4rob, on 11/11/2008, -2/+16"Technology visionary"..."Prager"... really!? ;o)
Seriously, great job guys. - bigdog1250, on 11/11/2008, -4/+16Congrats Rev3, job well done!
- Tippx, on 11/11/2008, -1/+13is web drifter canceled?
- RedShoulder, on 11/12/2008, -7/+18The road to profitability is paved with the bodies of those fired...
- Kronos6948, on 11/12/2008, -0/+11It's a hard pill to swallow, Jay, but swallow it we must. I was a huge fan of the PopSiren Gals, Martin, and Jay (and I'm definitely following what they do), but I'm still a fan of some of what's left of Rev3's content. Hopefully Rev3 can pump out more stuff that I enjoy to take the place of the shows that have been canceled.
- Dustmuffins, on 11/12/2008, -5/+16Cruise control for awesome.
- michaelamyers, on 11/12/2008, -2/+13It's easy to make the bottom line look good when you get rid of half the staff.
- zachsilvey, on 11/12/2008, -7/+17Web Drifter????? I want The Broken
plox - Lawr, on 11/12/2008, -0/+10Businesses try to... make money.
- gungaroo22, on 11/12/2008, -0/+10And, like with Tech TV, Martin loses his show.
Coincidence? I think not. Just another omen. - alphaterminus, on 11/12/2008, -11/+21Right like you have any inside information, jayadelson.
- ch28kid, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10Congrats to Revision3
I just want PixelPerfect back. I know there is still new shows coming out every week but I know it is ending soon.
PLEASE BRING IT BACK! - tutfire, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10The ads are put in in a way that is not obnoxious, and especially in diggnation and to an extent trs I don't mind them at all. More revenue means potentially more shows, better equipment, more staff, etc. Plus it's total vindication that online shows for geeks can work out really well. So I expect other people trying to squeeze into the same niche.
As long as they don't stray from their core demographic I'm fine with them making as much money as they can. - Kronos6948, on 11/12/2008, -2/+10Of course you are! They're all your friends. So, this affects you more than any of us, who are just fans of their work. I can only imagine how you, and especially Kevin, felt about the whole thing.
- erich87, on 11/12/2008, -3/+11i think the ?? is spend less money.
- brainintraining, on 11/12/2008, -1/+9and make me a sandwich
- tutfire, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7The ads are all in one spot. You can just skip over it. It's nothing like hulu or every other commercial video site where you ads are not skip-able and usually not at all relevant to you.
- RMoore08, on 11/11/2008, -3/+10Dude, he held shift down. He's not that lame.
- alphaterminus, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7oh come on
- sneedo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6Or the US Air Force ads....
- terminalcode, on 11/11/2008, -1/+7Great Job guys, I been a follower since the beginning even going back to the tech tv days before g4 took over when call for help, thescreensavers were popular etc.
I am glad to see that that Hak.5 crew is not part of the Rev3 Team, they are friends of mine.
Peace,
Walcy - Chaulis, on 11/12/2008, -1/+7Thank you for re-vitalizing shows like Hak.5 and Scam school. For sheer coolness factor, those shows take the cake. Diggnation has the funny and information, while TRS is the raddest around, hands down.
