- MetalXSlug, on 03/13/2008, -1/+74Why don't we just legalize it, tax it, and then not care what people do with their private lives? I guess that wouldn't be very American.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -1/+53Prostitution should absolutely be legal. It's amazing to me that we actually dedicate man-hours and whole police units to operate stings and undercover operations to arrest legal consenting adults... Meanwhile we have murders and rapes, and child molestation taking place all over this country. I'm not suggesting the authorities aren't doing anything to help, but they are definitely doing things that distract from the real problems.
America, land of the free... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Valentines's Day essentially a day dedicated to prostitution? If a guy gets his girlfriend/wife $75 worth of chocolates and roses, or a $3000 shiny diamond ring, he gets sex/intimacy... If he doesn't, because he forgets, or because he believes it is a "corporate holiday," he's in the doghouse. Gov't should be protecting our privacy, not impeding on it. - computergod, on 03/13/2008, -2/+40Escort services have been legal here in Canada for some time now, means less street prostitution.
- JonTheGoose, on 03/13/2008, -1/+20I'll put on my robe and wizard hat for $60 an hour.
- perfectsilence, on 03/14/2008, -1/+17because women don't want it to be legal, it's not in their interest that sex is easily available to men.
- Yage2006, on 03/13/2008, -1/+17It's funny how the world’s oldest profession is still illegal in america, You'd think the puritan douche bags would get a clue by now.
- theutopian, on 03/13/2008, -0/+14Welcome to Digg where you can say ***** without the F*ck. I promise you won't offend anyone.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -2/+15The site they linked in the article (http://www.bigdoggie.net/) is comedy gold! An escort review site :P
Holy crap, they even have newbie guides :o (http://www.bigdoggie.net/guides/). Time to figure out the ins and outs of the oldest profession... pun intended. - cfleap, on 03/13/2008, -1/+14Right On! In the great words of George Carlin... "If selling is legal, and F**King is legal...why isn't SELLING F**KING LEGAL?"
- LordSkywalker, on 03/13/2008, -2/+14Ron Paul is the only candidate that would support that. The rest pretend the issue doesn't exist I guess, sorta like the dying dollar.
- Spoomeister, on 03/14/2008, -0/+11"isn't Valentines's Day essentially a day dedicated to prostitution? What you're describing is not prostitution, it's extortion. - brjndr, on 03/13/2008, -0/+10We read about it in law school. From what I understand, the court's position was that what happens between consenting adults in their own home (or hotel room) is not the government's business. I believe it was a Quebec court, so don't know the national implications, I don't practice law in Canada so check with a Canadian attorney.
It would seem that street walking prostitution is still illegal. - Tenoq, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9One has a phone number and place of business, one harasses you on the street? Seems fairly obvious what the difference is, to me. Street prostitution is where you get a hooker and her client having sex on your doorstep or front lawn if you live in the red light district. :p
- hyberion, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9As George Carlin once said:
"Selling is legal. Fu*king is legal. Why isn't selling Fu*king legal? Why is it illegal to see something it's perfectly legal to give away?" - endlessoul, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9There is a lot of things that are against the law that shouldn't be. The government has not made laws without some sort of corporate interests in mind for over half a century.
That being said, legalize drugs and prostitution. Let us sort it out. - GreenZeal, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8"solidify customer loyalty"
- zaii7, on 03/13/2008, -3/+11i guess the internet is easier than driving down the bronx slums for some skanky truck stop lizards
/not that I would know - inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7A sin tax could reduce the income tax burden for all of us though! :)
- IllBeBack, on 03/14/2008, -0/+7Strippers are the worst. They are prostitutes where you don't actually get to have sex with them. You pay, but there's no happy ending... Don't give strippers money.
If you're wanting sex, call a real escort service and ask if they have "full service." That means that a woman will come to your house and within 20 minutes will be naked in your bed and ***** and/or sucking you like the pro that she is. - Zman0101, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7If it's legal that means it's regulated. if its regulated it likely means you get what you pay for. Meaning, if you find a "legal" prostitute, you'll end up with someone who is tested for AIDs and isn't a man
- radixus, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7I don't get why prostitution is illegal . . . I mean, in that business you pay a person to have sex with you. How is this different than making a porn movie. To make an adult film you pay people to have sex. It's pretty much the same thing, but one isn't legal.
Why can't our government make sense with their law making - it can't be that difficult. - foolawrence, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6it make it much more convenient
- LittleFishChan, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6Sex is the mother of invention/innovation.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6It's a conspiracy trumped up by da pimps to drum up some bitness fo dey hoes.
- scribat, on 03/13/2008, -1/+6"Another woman got a bad review — not for her physical shortcomings, but for her communications etiquette: "... didn't return calls or e-mails. Irresponsible.""
This folks, is one of the risks of the job - obsessive stalkers. - Nysul, on 03/13/2008, -1/+6I think http://www.theeroticreview.com/index.asp? has been around longer.
- evanstapler, on 03/13/2008, -1/+6Didn't you get the memo? Digg is all about Obama now.
- Matri, on 03/14/2008, -1/+6Because by regulating things this can be controlled. Compulsory, regular checkups, for one. Perhaps readily available condom dispensers? Or an in-house physician? Maybe even mandatory sex education for the workers.
Oh, sorry, that's not the republican way. - inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5They were hunting and gathering pussy.
- TRScheel, on 03/13/2008, -2/+6lmao, nice reference bud
For those outside the know:
http://bash.org/?104383 - VenDrake, on 03/13/2008, -2/+6What's the difference?
- Accolade1, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4I'm pretty sure the tax man could be the older profession.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4imagine male prostitution being profitable.
not only legal everywhere, it'd be on tv.
meanwhile, most of the U.S. states, give it the Iranian treatment. - VenDrake, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4I knew there was a better user for those pneumatic banking tubes.
- LordSkywalker, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4Unfortunately.
- Kenzan, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3You need to study more, and digg less.
- theutopian, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4Well, the common argument here on Digg is that all women are prostitutes.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3...with clubs...
- IllBeBack, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2The governor of New York, who is pictured with his wife in the thumbnail for this submission, resigned yesterday due to his use of a prostitute.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2"and one time, at band camp"
- cozb, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2just remember, 1 in 4 'normal' teen girl has an STD, imagine what a call girl has!
- Jeffler, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2Is it prostitution day or something here? This is at least the second article thats hit the front page today, and I know theres been a few upcomings...
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+220 what for 15 what?
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Yes.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Because they're the government and we're talking about laws here--damnit, man, what kind of civics class did you take?! You just put the phrase 'make sense' in the same sentence with the words 'government' and 'laws', that's kinda like dividing by zero; frankly I'm surprised you didn't blow up or something....did you?
- Kenzan, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2His wife looks like quite the ballbuster.
Not sure If I blame him. - konkushn, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I used to be a die-hard republican.. But now, I think that pot and prostitutes (service providers) should be legal. As a matter of fact Harry Kim's ghost told me in a dream that he wanted me to hire high-end prostitutes.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I wish (don't we all?).
- pcpimpster, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I'm offended he didnt know that already :)
- shadowspawn, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3I have conflicting viewpoints on this. Everyone that is "pro hooker" has valid points. Everyone that is "anti-hooker" has valid points. But anyone producing points of view has never really states that they have known a person who was debating going over that line, or someone who walked that line, or someone who got stuck in that line of work. I've known all three.
It's not the life you think of. It's very, very sad. Very sad indeed, watching a friend debate selling their body because they can't afford to feed their kids. -
