- jdh24, on 12/29/2008, -1/+71Am I the only one sick of 'everything'-czar in the government?
- akchrs, on 12/29/2008, -4/+43Maybe Kevin Mitnick.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -2/+35or let people on the internet do whatever the ***** they want because it's none of your ***** business.
- hmunkey, on 12/29/2008, -2/+29Czar is a ***** Russian leader. I hate how every single person is called a czar, even when they aren't that important.
- Richandler, on 12/29/2008, -2/+29These Czars are all unconstitutional and every time I read them at least it reminds me of the Soviets.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -1/+24Seems like whoever will be chosen as "cyber czar" will most surely have their hands full.
- eLye, on 12/30/2008, -1/+19Seems like everything is "Top Priority" with this guy....
- faceless323, on 12/29/2008, -2/+20I'm also sick of "gate" being added to everything a politician does wrong.
- twiztidsinz, on 12/30/2008, -1/+19I'm still waiting for Czargate.
- macmcraeart, on 12/29/2008, -0/+16is comes from the word Caesar. A term that has even more baggage.
- Claverhouse, on 12/30/2008, -0/+13Or they could go another way...
Somewhere in some tedious township a 13-yr-old boy is hunched over his computer, typing quickly as he hacks into the selection process; within a few weeks he ensures that a helicopter will land deafeningly outside his school and a four-star general will emerge accompanied by Rahm Emanuel who will stride quickly and silently in the pale winter sunshine across the playground to tap him on the shoulder and sombrely invite him to take up his entrusted destiny. - Infowarsdotcom, on 12/30/2008, -2/+14None of the above.
Obama can take his cyberspace czar and shove him up a dead elephant's ass that is immediately fed to lions on meth. - msu4life, on 12/30/2008, -2/+14What about Al Gore? Didn't he invent this damn thing?
- spyd3rweb, on 12/30/2008, -3/+14The illegitimate government is taunting you with their fancy czars and bailouts.
- cubicledrone, on 12/30/2008, -0/+11They do not know of this Constitution of which you speak.
- snaglepuss, on 12/30/2008, -1/+12EFF.org (Or better yet, don't create the position to start with. It will be abused sometime down the road if it exists.)
- anteyekon4myst, on 12/30/2008, -3/+12I think we forgot about academia as an option.
- macmcraeart, on 12/29/2008, -1/+9Shouldn't they utilize another word with less baggage or something? Calling a position czar should be taboo like naming your kid Caligula, elvis or adolph.
- cubicledrone, on 12/30/2008, -1/+8Depends. What do they do all day? Get appointed and then start pestering Congress for more money and more power so they can lash it all together into some kind of Clive Barker-esque bulldozer made of lungs and bone and skulls and use it to crush the intensive care unit where the Constitution is hiding?
If so, I'd say we don't need one. Thanks. - inactive, on 12/29/2008, -1/+8I want to be the
"Stop light and Cigarette Czar"
Talk about potential for power!! - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+7Someone from 4chan.
- Pake, on 12/30/2008, -1/+8How dare you wish for a meth addicted lion. Have you no soul?
- homah, on 12/30/2008, -2/+9More government...sweet.
- Auraness, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7Or Char Czar.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -2/+8Answer: None of the Above
- DarthPoo, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7I'm pretty sure the whole "czar" concept didn't really work too well in the long run.
- vbullinger, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7Wait, but then his teeth would fall out. Infowarsdotcom, you're a genius!
- drownedrat343, on 12/30/2008, -0/+6I gotta say, when I first read the headline, I thought it said "*Pirate*, Government or Military?" and I was totally thinking: Pirate.
- WNW3, on 12/30/2008, -0/+6MY CHAR CSAR! LET ME SHOW YOU THEM!
- iloveobama, on 12/30/2008, -4/+10Why do we need a Cyber Czar? Do all of you Obama fans really want the government regulating and censoring your internet?
- Whackly, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7Thomas Jefferson and George Washington weren't married.
- Betrayer, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7ALL HAIL CZAR!
Dictatorship titles shouldn't be tied to branches of a free government. WTF!
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5In my opinion we should appoint someone who can do card tricks as czar, or someone wearing a top hat.
- bipolarruledout, on 12/30/2008, -1/+6The highly intelligent will always suffer tyranny of the majority.
- Bhima, on 12/29/2008, -1/+6What I'm wondering is when Digg will appoint a "Related By Keyword Czar". Because what they have now sucks.
- mehan, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5Why Czar?
Why would you choose a Russian word for monarch to describe anything supposedly desirable for the U.S. government? I just don't get it. - edrainkona, on 12/30/2008, -2/+7Maybe someone from Digg.
- bipolarruledout, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5Meth is a very powerful appetite suppressant.
- zemelo, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5If a Czar is still a Russian leader then England still has Kings...wait....
- Corrosionx, on 12/30/2008, -1/+5I'm sick of everything from the government.
- vbullinger, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4You know, with all these Czars, I think we're going to need a Czar Czar.
- randumbusername, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4im just at that line where im wondering if i care anymore.
- ammundsen, on 12/30/2008, -1/+5You cant choose a Czar. It is a heredity position.
What idiot introduced this Orwellian word into our lexicon? And how has it become so common place?
I think a better term for an overreaching bureaucrat with unconstitutional powers would be a fuehrer. And it would at least be a correct usage.
Hail Caesar! - hmunkey, on 12/29/2008, -1/+5His pick should not be actively involved in the commercial sector, because there would be conflicts of interest and the choice would already be busy. However, it better not be some dumbass who knows nothing about technology.
I'm hoping he finds someone with industry experience who is willing to give up his or her private sector job to assist him. - bipolarruledout, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4Hence the drug czar.
- eadnams, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4Steve Gibson.
- hmunkey, on 12/30/2008, -1/+5America does have a lot of the world's top universities. It's only in the last 8 years that a lot of scientists have left.
- Barackalypse, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4How many data breaches have been because of human error, like not applying security patches in a timelu manner, using weak or even default passwords, taking unencrypted data offsite and having it get misplaced or stolen? When you hear about stolen military secrets how often is it because of an infiltrated spy or a corrupt employee rather than a network intrusion? A technological approach fails when people using it can be easily gamed or don't follow protocol (think German Enigma machine operators).
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4...then we still have monarchies. There.
- bipolarruledout, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4Perhaps I'm in agreement. I'm temped to say private industry but the conflict of interest is the underlying reason against this. Academia might look promising.
