- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -5/+137Porno Tube is lame. Everything on there is either gay or 30 second previews of commercial porn videos.
- Claw787, on 10/11/2007, -1/+64Are you talking about Open source porn, released under GPL?
- helinism, on 10/11/2007, -3/+55I guess the whole voyeur aspect of watching real life situations outweighs plastic boobs and fake tan then. :/

Growth.
Methinks I'm a little too old to be laughing at that.
But I did. - JDoorjam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8My dear thedarkrabbit, mocking typos on Digg is a longstanding and revered pastime, but you have to be the first one in the thread to do it or you just end up looking late to the game.
- mrsteve0, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11Porn on the internets, when did this happen?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I wouldn't say that if I were you. Japan is two years ahead of America in every single way, even in the sex industry and their market is just growing and growing.

Oh wow I clicked that and suddenly the site was full of good, decent length porn by enthusiasts/hobbyists/attention-freaks, some of which are tolerable naked!!!
No really, read the other half of what I said. When you strip away the gay and commercial crap the site's got nothing. It's a market place for advertising porno videos, not a porn version of YouTube, and hardly a replacement for the 'traditional' porn business model.
The ARS guys must have been feeling retarded this morning if they think advertising porno videos somehow replaces porno videos. - PleaseJustDie, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9pr0n
- Leviathan777, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7You people are crazy. The post you're replying to is right, though not elegantly argued.
If I'm looking for porn, I want to see people having sex. I want them to look like human beings, not clown whores with inflatable boobs. I want to see women's bodies showed off with love, affection, and enthusiasm.
People will do all of that for free. Adding some lame-ass story, worse acting, lots of makeup, and naming it after a Hollywood movies doesn't do dick for me. I'd rather watch some woman who looks like - and might be - one of the hot moms on my street go crazy because she likes it.
In the long run - 20 years or so - 90% of pro porn is going to be no more than advertising for prostitution. The rest will be for people who will pay for quality control. There will be so much amateur stuff, easily and freely available, that in the next 5 years, that pro porn is going to take a big, big hit. It's only for the noobs as it is now. On the plus side, if you are looking for a prostitute much hotter than you can afford now, you're going to enjoy this transformation.
Fake ***** are stupid. 90% of them look terrible (ask Howard Stern). Real ***** of all sizes and shapes are sexier. Fake ***** are awesome if you like holding bags of sand.
P.S. If you are looking at censored jap porn you are a loser. There's tons of uncensored stuff. And yes, the industry is controlled by the yakuza (why the ***** would someone digg that comment down?). And it's very formulaic in general (see 100 jam-u, seen 'em all) but you get a lot that you don't get in American pro porn - like a tactile sense of the body. Lots of moving the flesh around, sounds, and you can see the details.
Yup, got something to annoy everyone. Digg down the truth, *****, you'll re-read this in hell. - lazyrussian, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Pornbuntu?
- skrowl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Could have something to do with the fact that easy access to commercial porn has lead to mass desensitization. No longer are people satisfied with girl/guy, girl/girl, etc. Now it has to be amateur, shot with a $299 Sony Handicam in some bar's bathroom or involve some kind of niche (BDSM, Extra-hardcore, gang bang, or Illegal stuff) or people are just too bored of it.
Down with boring distro porn at $29.99 / DVD, up with free (yet grainy as hell with terrible sound) porn created by the masses for the masses! - robdiggity, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9@f4nt0m4s
I'm sorry, but what in the ***** planet do you live on where the porn industry is in any remote danger of dying? - haynil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It's not quite the same. Making something that is near the caliber or a movie or TV show takes a pretty good amount of time and effort. Not to mention needing to have some decent equipment. In order to make some amateur porn, all you need is a half decent camera. Think about it, porn isn't about the lighting, direction, plot, or acting. All it comes down to is naked people. I also think that it's a bit more widespread than just pornotube. While that particular site may not actually be a thorn in porn's side, I'm sure there are a number of sites that legitimately are.
- Sithlrd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6"'People are making movies in their houses and dragging and dropping them,' CEO of adult payment processing site GoGoBill.com Harvey Kaplan told the New York Times. "
Which is why we need a tiered internet. Fat, ugly chicks get dialup. Hot sweaty MILFs get fiber. - 355spider, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Porn is dying thanks to the internet, yet Hustler released their fastest selling DVD ever about two months ago ? http://www.businessvoyeur.com/2007-06-06/tera-patricks-new-dvd-sets-sales-record-at-hustler
I think there is a bit of sensationalism going on here.
I know a lot of the big video companies were late on the train, but this doesn't mean they are losing any business now. A lot of the amateur content/low quality that was shot while the internet porn industry was booming in the late nineties/early 00's doesn't compare to the huge budget releases on video and DVD, mainly because of the stars. The internet now has created a lot more pornstars who are crossing over between markets and as shown by Playboy buying Adult.com, the video companies are now making alliances to get their high quality content into the already established webmaster bases and programs that exist.
For example Zero Tolerance launching ZTOD.com or Anabolic with their official sites. As soon as the video companies launch they can put their entire back catalogues online and outweigh sites that have been on the internet for 5+ years. I think we will start to see decline in the one-man operations running pornsites, and instead a lot more big companies getting involved with webmasters promoting them via affiliate schemes instead. Hell, sites like PornoTube are ran by companies like this anyway (Pornotube being AEBN, one of the few networks to support the sheer amount of bandwidth that site is using), they are huge traffic generators... and where there is traffic, there is money to be made. - ctishman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Honestly, what Skrowl said about mass-desensitization was correct. I used to be interested in that stuff, but years and years later, oily fake-tan silicone dolls groaning and writhing around on each other don't do it anymore. Pornography as it stands in the U.S. is utterly disconnected from intimacy.
It's just people *****, and that's the problem.
***** is boring. ***** is passé. I want to see intimacy. Love, laughter, passion, and then maybe some *****. Oddly enough, now that I'm older than 15, I find no appeal in sex without context. It's the love (or reasonably good simulation thereof) that's arousing, not the beef injection. - Leviathan777, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I've seen way too much extremely hot truly amateur porn to let that comment stand. You are *****.
After you've seen enough naked people, you realize they look more alike than not. And even the super hot ones are far, far, far more common than you imagine. And at some point, variety and imagination (the brain is the real sex organ) matter more. I'd rather see a 30-something with a c-section scar really, really, really enjoy what she's doing than some lame-ass bimbo show off her fake all-body tan, because there's only one of those who lives near me and is actually likely to have sex with me. So which one do I imagine? And I'd like to see the one that stimulates my imagination.
Kids today have it so easy! We used to have to hunt through our neighbors trash for porn mags. - Riffraffs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4not complaining, business is business. one thing isn't working anymore, on to the next. I was just making the point it's a bitch to make a buck on porn "when the milk is free who's gonna pay for a cow"
- JDoorjam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3RTFA to see the arguments about why amateur vs. professional porn is totally different than amateur vs. professional mainstream tv and movies. Having sex with someone on camera is a lot easier than writing, acting in, directing, producing, sound mixing, and editing video content of any non-negligible length.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Well, I still jerk off manually.
- andreo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5@robdiggity
It's not so much that it's going to die. But there are so many people out there that are ready and willing to display them self for free. Hit the news groups and there are gigs upon gigs of amature stuff out there with any topic or fetish that you can think of and a few that you may have never thought of before. These are normally people that are doing this not for a paycheck but because they like doing it.
To most people watching someone that seem to be enjoying what they are doing is more satisfying then watching someone with bad acting skills. Heck even old porn reviews will sometimes bring up how an actress was so good because she seemed to be enjoying herself, and other reviews would mention how bad a film was because the women in it seemed to be just waiting for the scene to be over with.
So the big problem is how does an industry that once held all the cards when it came to porn via video tapes (and theaters at one time) no compete with people screaming for others to watch them for free? Especially when the people giving it away are sometimes pretty easy on the eyes. - buadach, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"The adult industry has grown alongside the Internet"
No. The WWW grew on top of the porn industry internet infrastructure. - cevil203, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4"It's just people *****, and that's the problem"
WTF? - TexanPsycho, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So this is what all these rounded corners were about.
