- SanjayM, on 12/11/2007, -3/+147"Unhappy with all the paper wasted on the case, Brokep and the “The Pro Piracy Movement” bought 5 trees, to compensate for the environmental losses."
I LOVE the attitude these guys take to litigation. - alex1015, on 12/11/2007, -5/+87Obligatory '***** THE RIAA/MPAA"
- tehbored, on 12/11/2007, -1/+45Oh it's only 4000. One zero can make a huge difference, eh?
- HacKing, on 12/11/2007, -12/+48Personally, the article at http://thepirateblog.net/2007/12/10/the-pirate-bay ... is more informative and easier to read. You can decide. Don't get me wrong.. I love TorrentFreak, but I like to hear personal opinions, not only dry facts and fluff.
Digg me down! - themoosejuice, on 12/11/2007, -0/+24so the police took 180 servers. maybe 8 were piratebays. What ever happened to all those other companies? Anyone go bankrupt because of it? I never heard a followup.
- Sep11insidejob, on 12/11/2007, -3/+25To show my support I have disabled my adblock on their site.
- KrazyA1pha, on 12/11/2007, -2/+23***** THE RIAA/MPAA
- Xizer, on 12/11/2007, -2/+224,000 ***** pages? Just to put that into perspective, that's the size of two unabridged dictionaries.
Was it written in Entish? - maltaethiron, on 12/11/2007, -2/+20In other news, standard rules for Subject/Verb agreement were thrown out the window today.
- bizkit00, on 12/11/2007, -0/+13"On an interesting tangent, Brokep, being the stunning environmentalist that he is, bought 5 trees to compensate for all the wasted paper (certificate here)."
but who's going to buy a small plant to offset the certificate?? - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -2/+15If only America had the same quality of investigations..... they found a bug in their software?
america would be like.... "it said Eminem, It is illegal!" - actorboy, on 12/11/2007, -0/+12They're good at PR. I'll give them that. "You can't put them in jail! They bought a tree!"
- badjokes, on 12/11/2007, -4/+16cant wait to see the pirate bay succeed. its only a matter of time until copyright laws are restructured.
- fkr3, on 12/11/2007, -5/+16Copyright laws are being restructured, to introduce harsher penalties not to make some fantasy land where everyone who amuses you will work for free.
- stephenpjc, on 12/11/2007, -0/+11*whew*, scared me for a second, I thought it read, "Police closes Pirate bay"
- Icupnimpn2, on 12/11/2007, -0/+9Yes, just as soon as all of the major copyright holders lose all of their money and therefore their influence on government. Any day now.
- heystoopid, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8Like all good companies should have had good off site backup done at least twice daily and cash to replace same then lodge appropriate legal compensation action to regain their property and appropriate costs and reimbursement as being innocent third parties from both the police and the chief prosecutors department !
Me thinks both the Police and the Prosecutors department may be seeking some emergency funding to cover contingencies not included in existing budgets !
By the way it would appear that the servers were not the only computers they seized as well as those private machines that were in possession of the Bay staff as well used to maintain and uplink to the servers as well ! - kopimi, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7It was sent as a PDF :)
- thebellmaster1x, on 12/11/2007, -5/+12Obligatory "ARRRRRRR."
- miles32, on 12/11/2007, -4/+11Stupid band anyway
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -3/+10I wish more Americans had as much balls as Brokep...
- gbarberi, on 12/11/2007, -3/+10It's no fun when you ask for it :)
Just kidding, I wouldn't digg you down. I'll read both articles. - IEatHamburgers, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6Also CRIA
- axelmattias, on 12/11/2007, -3/+9So what are you really going to do to support them if you really care? Swear on Digg? Nice one. That'll learn em!
- CeeJayDK, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Especially if he's elected.
- wilhel1812, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Go sweden!
(from a norwegian) - Tippis, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5It was written in Swedish, which, to put it further into perspective, as a language is actually slightly less verbose than English.
- Akraz, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7It's a good thing Brokep is stickin' it to the man.
- CeeJayDK, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7How much do you earn posting anti-p2p comments constantly ?
- doctordbx, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6Whilst I regularly use torrents and TPB, I am under on illusion that their activity is on the shadier side of the law or unethical. The bottom line is they are providing a mechanism to allow for people's intellectual property to be used without compensation.
On the flip side, I think the actions of the companies attempting to protect this intellectual property have also been unethical and an indication of a faliure to embrace the evolution of their industry and/or market, and instead enforce a status quo that nobody wants.
I guess I'm kind of on the fence... but I don't think TPB are angels or saviors. - actorboy, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Yeah, because Torrentfreak never offers personal opinion.. For instance, Ernesto didn't write, "There doesn’t appear to be any evidence that suggests The Pirate Bay is involved in any illegal activities...". I'm surprised that, "...but that is up to the court to decide now" made it in there. Or didn't.
- Myztry, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5Something is astray when an Authority creates 4,000 pages of documentation. Not to support a charge, but to try to find something to charge them with to sate a Corporate interest.
When the MPAA clearly breached copyright by distributing GPL software in violation of the license, no Authorities got the urge to "fine tooth comb" them.
They may want the first to be illegal, but it's the second one that actually was. - CeeJayDK, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4I don't think Entish is supposed to be written on sheets of dead tree.
- thesandreckoner, on 12/11/2007, -3/+7i hope every thing works out well for TPB.
- Andareed, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3This is true in general. However, police is a special case and is almost always used in the plural. Does "The police is running" sound right to you?
- CeeJayDK, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4You can't go to jail if you don't break any laws.
Besides .. even if he should go to jail , this is sweden , not america.
Now stop shilling , you douche. - ImOscar, on 12/11/2007, -2/+5In related news, many digg readers are ignorant to the fact that Americans aren't the only ones that read digg.
http://englishplus.com/grammar/00000193.htm
For the record I'm American, so you Brits need not chime in with "We invented the damn language" remarks - Anath3ma, on 12/11/2007, -4/+7Holy *****, Brokep has quite the pair of balls...
If TBP is taken down, its going to set a very dangerous precedent, so we better hope this is all a fear tactic. Regardless, TBP has my support through and through. YARRRR! - spudnic, on 12/11/2007, -3/+6They're just so hard not to like
- Smills, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Damn you both, The Police is an awesome band.
- fkr3, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3No they don't, they're just better at producing entertainment then most everybody.
- ryllharu, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3I thought a couple of the companies sued the police department for lost revenue a week or so after the raid. I don't know if they won or not, but someone filed a few suits.
- cliffski, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3on the day that everyone in the entertainment industry gets to live in rent-free homes and have free food and holidays, maybe that might happen. dream on.
- PA42, on 12/11/2007, -2/+4I really think it is the pirates that miss the point. The point is that people who create media (doesn't matter what media) should have the right to control it. Those trying to take away that control and give away copyrighted material for free should be punished.
- CeeJayDK, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3So being successful makes him any less of a hero ?
- Dmitrik, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Cmon, a blog that doesn't have RSS. How ***** retarded is that?
- actorboy, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2If that's the case, then they can get in trouble for more than failing to report crimes, as their whole intent is to encourage that activity and their public statements prove that they do so willingly. Aiding and abetting.
- capiCrimm, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2unless you had pack of on-demand lawyers and lobbiests, then you could get an exception for anything that says Eminem.
- PA42, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3@theaceoffire
That is a ridiculous statement. They should not be able to make money off of there talents because a bunch of people want to break the law and take it for free? - theaceoffire, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2O.o thats right... I forgot that in other countries, you need a reason to be arrested..
