- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1camtech, that's 120 lumens for a single LED. A 2x2 array gets you to 480 lumens, a 3x3 array gets you over 1,000 lumens in a package measuring 3cmx6cm, which is 1.2 inches x 2.4 inches for the the lighting element (this just replaces the bulb section, you still need the rest of the mess).
You will see some VERY small, very bright projectors with greater time between bulb replacement come out of this.
And oh yeah, guaranteed you'll see one of these in a cellphone, as a gimmick if nothing else. - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was listening to TWiT long before I got on digg.
- dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Could change consoles as we know them today.
Imagine... Xbox 9000 - 15' projector included... - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol, can I play halo on it?
That would be sweet..whip that thing out set up on a wall and let the fun rage on! - JayFyve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would think this is good news for conventional projectors as well? Cheaper bulbs that last much longer maybe?
- bndocksnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sorry, meant pov (persistence of vision), where's that acronym checker when you need it?
- FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool, could probably drive my dog nuts (he hates flashlights)
- meshgiath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man I love all this new LED tech... I've been messing with LEDs and breadboards since the early 90s and I'm THRILLED that they're finally catching up with the rest of tech. Can't wait to get some nice Osram or Luxeon LED headlights when they come out....
The research that goes into these things is amazing to read! Dugg - IraqManiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0at first I thought it said "Orgasm has developed an LED that is 50x brighter than its predecessors."
lol, but this is cool nonetheless - theundone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you could actually have a built in projector on your laptop
- bndocksnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^me too, lol...believe that's pos related or something...
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whoa, thats insane.
- kevin.gc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol, I read that as "Pocket Protectors Possible Thanks to New LED!"
- metalgore32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes I do love twit, I have been listening since episode 11 and I am hooked like none other. Twit army unite! :-P
- udubnate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh wow great, another thing to blind myself
- outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Think of how useful this would be! Being able to go anywhere and do a business presentation with a pocket-sized projector, or watch a movie with some friends on a... spare wall would be great!
- camtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats cool, but 120 lumens isnt a lot. i suppose it would be like using an old overhead projecter but with video. but i would still definently get this.
- akaidiot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0We have a twit listener on digg!
I didn't think I'd see the day..

What is Digg?
