- ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mdweezer, good thing signing a petition isn't illegal or immoral.
- MyOCD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amendments to this Constitution may be initiated in two ways:
1. By action of a majority vote of the congress.
2. By petition signed by at least 50% of congress.
You (the individual) can not petition for action to amending the constitution. The RIAA has been presented with dozens of petitions, this does not work. - kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! What a great way to get a bunch of email addresses. Who needs phishers!
- Cannelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Waste of time. Online survey don't count for *****.
- heatpackrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"we now have 76559 signatures" ... wow... almost there...
yeah, i have a ***** of music and now im going back and buying my favorite cds... "pirating is killing the music industry" my ass. - pillfred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks good to me. Go to shows and buy merch. or better yet download there album and send the band ten bucks if you feel guilty. I could care less if some rec. exec. can't go first class to Cancun for some "business meeting." Also whats the deal with proto wall and peer guardian?
- lando305, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yup, they sure dont!
- antispammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I signed, however I know that the government will wipe their ass with this.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0simple, stop buying cd's! that'll send em the message they are charging way to much and need to stop the lawsuits
- rookieone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0man i signed for sure because im not goin to pay just so some "alredy rich" artist can get richer from my hard earned cash....pleaze...
- FoxCore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Cannelle
You do NOT know what you are talking about when it comes to technical issues. Having read most of your lame-ass digg comments it is obvious, you do NOT have a clue about ___ and stop filling digg with your nonsense. - ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0MyOCD, this isn't for a constitutional amendment.
It's to let congress know there are enough of their constituents out there who disagree with RIAA and copyright policy. - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0have a riaa day and boycott em
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hell yea i signed that ***** i already pay too much for cd, ***** there already rich they should buy me the cd hell yea
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if 100,000.00 people don't buy cd's works better
- heatpackrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey, as long as it makes me feel like im helping out the fight, its good enough for me
- ryan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jeez this is a load of BS. Online petitions won't do anything. The girl pirated music and she was caught. She deserves to be fined because she was stealing the music. It's the same as shoplifting a CD. You won't see any one petitioning for that will you?
- jeff94, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol. Either sign it or don't sign it and shut up.
- jeff94, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The letter isn't written very well, and it makes some exaggerated claims.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0do you HONESTLY think that bands are losing money to pirates? get your head out of your ass and smell the reality: the only people making any money off of you buying a record is the RIAA.
if your friends are independant bands and unsigned bands, i doubt any of their material is getting traded on the net. once youre signed its a whole different ***** world. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Jeez this is a load of BS. worst comment and opinion ever. yes i said worst opinion - G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just signed, and it said they have 0 signatures... http://www.eff.org/share/petition/display.php
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i signed. except i dont agree to the "gladly pay a fair price". im gonna keep on pirating :)
- avaugha4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bands make almost all of their money, ONCE SIGNED to a label, from tourin and selling mrch, not from CD's.
also, not buying CD's will just give them more ammo against piracy...
they have so much power now that market economics will have no impact on their position... sad but true...
can't innovate? litigate! - GamerSDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think we should sue the RIAA for not respecting our privcy to do what we what in our own home. If i what to download music i should with out thinking about the RIAA.
- b04155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love the example of the little girl that doesn't have the money to pay the lawsuit. In other news... criminals are petitioning because they don't have the money to pay lawsuits after being caught...er..
don't get me wrong though, music cd's are dead but I laugh when people complain about getting caught. - ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ryan, it's been beaten to death on here and slashdot. Piracy is, in fact, not the same as shop lifting; and I'm not talking about my opinion, I'm talking law. Shoplifting is a criminal offense, copyright infringement, a civil offense.
When you actually know what you're talking about, come post a rational comment. - KyleGoetz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kwilliam71: If I was to give my email address to a single online group, I would give it to the Electronic Frontier Foundation before -anyone- else. Their whole purpose for existance is to protect the rights of netizens.
- KyleGoetz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I signed, and I purchase CDs at full retail all the time here in Japan. I signed because the RIAA is pushing more and more for less consumer rights. Young people have been raised believing they don't have many rights as a consumer, and it's simply not the case. We need to educate them.
- MyOCD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The more the RIAA complains about artist not making money, the less sympathy I have for them. Spend 30 minutes watching MTV, and then tell me their poor. This is a joke of a debate, and a waste of time. The RIAA is just pissed, because they can not monopolize on an industry that has been geared toward them; THE INTERNET.
- mdweezer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I hope all of you who signed do get caught and fined lots of money. I know many people in bands who work hard and travel to sell their records and play shows. So shame on you who download music illegally.
