- vman81, on 06/07/2009, -7/+477Yarr, the pirates pillaging mainland Europe once again.
It's been to long guys. - HallenbeckJoe, on 06/07/2009, -3/+294Pirate Party Germany got 100.000-200.000 votes!
Not enough for a seat in the EU parliament, but a big step! - offon, on 06/07/2009, -6/+290Horrrray ! :)
- MidnightTide, on 06/07/2009, -9/+248come on people, you have to digg this.
Yarrr! - iMiXiMi, on 06/07/2009, -9/+236North American News is so biased, they hardly ever cover the polls and when they do, for just minutes. Watching BBC, they have shown every perspective and even talked about the Pirate Party for a while. Never will American stations ever talk about The Pirate Party.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -6/+177freedom! :)
- EverybodyPanic, on 06/07/2009, -3/+172This new bill is stuck at 98% from being enacted legislation. Please seed!
- gamepr0, on 06/07/2009, -3/+164These comments don't suck at all.
- dajs, on 06/07/2009, -1/+1550.8% atm!
more than 0.5% means funding from the state! - fitzoh, on 06/07/2009, -5/+152I'd say it's less about bias and more about disinterest. Call it arrogance, but I know most Americans aren't interested in European elections aside from those who have specifically been following the pirate party because of interest in file sharing.
- Vazelos, on 06/07/2009, -6/+147***** the RIAA & MPAA
- Stormwern, on 06/07/2009, -1/+120Remember, these are viking pirates. Twise the crazy, half the hygiene.
- Earendil1, on 06/07/2009, -1/+109Pirate Party Germany 0,7%. Not bad for our the first election
- thesonofdarwin, on 06/07/2009, -0/+102We can't even cover our own parties let alone someone else's. When do the Greens, Libertarians, etc. make the news here unless it's something bad? American media don't recognize there being more than two parties - that includes internationally. So if you want coverage you better start renaming.
- RedHawk911, on 06/07/2009, -3/+104I voted for the Pirate Party!
- fitzoh, on 06/07/2009, -4/+83Curious to see what news sites will have to say about it if anything.
- vman81, on 06/07/2009, -1/+80It's relatively close to 2 seats, hope they can keep up the steam
- Medicamusic, on 06/07/2009, -2/+81too.
Sorry. - idomagic, on 06/07/2009, -4/+8180% of the election districts have been counted, and the pirates still have 7.1% of the votes..
YARRRR!
See you in Brussels! - phenom2k7, on 06/08/2009, -1/+71Dear America, Month / Day / Year. Seriously?
- gamepr0, on 06/07/2009, -2/+69Thank you so much Swedish voters, you're awesome.
- HallenbeckJoe, on 06/07/2009, -1/+63Official results are in and the Pirate Party Germany got over 200.000 votes!
Keep on the good work! - mnetlucas, on 06/07/2009, -0/+62I think even the Grammar Nazis are afraid of pirates now
- Hrodrik, on 06/07/2009, -5/+63This is not just a battle for filesharing they've won. It's a battle for freedom of expression. Congratulations, Pirate Party.
(Arr) - portnoy, on 06/07/2009, -2/+59And then, America!
- henrikakselsen, on 06/07/2009, -6/+60Intellectual property, your day has come.
- Wizard3000, on 06/07/2009, -1/+52In case you want to look at the results in real time you can have a look at

The Pirate party is the one called PP.
The column "Mandat 2009" shows the preliminary number of seats in the EU parliament.
This was by far my most satisfying vote so far. - wbtn, on 06/07/2009, -2/+50Break out the Rum
- TheMagician2007, on 06/07/2009, -4/+51Epic win!
- Takura4, on 06/07/2009, -3/+49Now only if the US Pirate Party could start doing this... :(

- altis, on 06/07/2009, -5/+44Go Pirate! Go Pirate GO!! *early 90s dance*
- dylio, on 06/07/2009, -4/+38Yar har fiddle dee, do what you want because a pirate is free.
You are a pirate. - Redux90, on 06/07/2009, -4/+37I hope this will increase the number of pirate parties in the rest of Europe :)
- toxicityj, on 06/08/2009, -1/+33THRICE THE PILLAGING!
- Myonosken, on 06/07/2009, -0/+30BBC mentioned it as soon as exit polls showed it. There's no cover up going to happen.
- the8thbit, on 06/08/2009, -2/+32Dear Europe, I can totally do Day/Month/Year and the metric system if you drop the commas.
- PatrickBrown, on 06/07/2009, -1/+31"It's been to long guys."
Pirates exist in order to long for guys? - darlingt, on 06/07/2009, -3/+32Gee... sounds like America...
/southerner - Paddy1, on 06/07/2009, -0/+29The Parliament (along with the Commission) is in Brussels but has to hold 12 plenary sessions in Strasbourg each year. It essentially means that the Parliament and its staff packs and moves to Strasbourg for a few days every month before going back to Brussels. Its a huge unnecessary expense!
- astromj, on 06/07/2009, -7/+35Yepp.. this is great for us in Sweden... however... right wing extreme is gaining ground too... it is confusing whether or not we can be proud or if we should be ashamed today... perhaps proud for democracy.. but ashamed for our south that can't get their racist idiots on better thoughts...
- holyskeleton, on 06/07/2009, -6/+34Horrrrahhh
- Goblinkiller, on 06/07/2009, -0/+26Isn't it 0.9%? Anyway - it's better than the Swedish pirate party's first election and all in all 0.9% in Germany means more people than 7.1% in Sweden...
- gsenechal, on 06/07/2009, -2/+27Thank you.
- TallestSkil, on 06/07/2009, -0/+24No, I'm pretty sure that's what politics has become: no real commitments and no honor.
- dhjackburton, on 06/07/2009, -0/+23you mean the "wind in thar sails, arg!"
- kinseyincanada, on 06/07/2009, -0/+22is there a pirate party in the states? and if so do they have a significant following like the ones in Europe?
- anthropodeus, on 06/07/2009, -2/+22@chrillen
you're just upset because they're cooler than you now. -
