case closed. - shutaro, on 10/29/2009, -8/+286***** THE RIAA!
- pandawa, on 10/29/2009, -4/+253wow. the swedish court really likes RIAA money apparently
- EE001, on 10/29/2009, -3/+191You cant ban administrators!
- DDRSkata, on 10/29/2009, -5/+161What an absurd ruling.
- 8bitflu, on 10/29/2009, -2/+135The Court of Me hereby declares Swedish courts full of Douche.
- thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -2/+129They might as well rule that Obama can no longer run the United States government either, it would be just as pointless.
I am hoping at some point that the Swedish courts and the RIAA's collective heads go so far up their asses they will just become a singularity and suck them selves out of our universe - Iceman21, on 10/29/2009, -1/+112“How then can the Stockholm District Court, Sweden, get to decide that people abroad must not work on a site in another country?”
So are the Swedish courts now claiming jurisdiction over the entire world? - lanfordr, on 10/29/2009, -4/+97In Soviet Russia, you ban administrators!
- therealgeddylee, on 10/29/2009, -4/+92Out of spite, the Swedish courts should ban anyone from Stockholm from visiting Sweden.
- kinseyincanada, on 10/29/2009, -4/+76WHAT THE ***** HAPPED TO DEMONOID?
- RLovell, on 10/29/2009, -5/+75Long live The Pirate Bay!
- kopiwrite, on 10/29/2009, -1/+67Ukrainian bunker.
http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay-relocates-t ... - MonochromeNight, on 10/29/2009, -1/+63Yeah what the...?
- mnemy, on 10/29/2009, -3/+62Is that even possible? How can a court decide whether or not you're allowed to do your job? I mean, I guess they could threaten citizenship status or something (no idea what the laws around that are), but it just sounds like the courts will do anything they're told regardless of law.
- AntiMrBabyman, on 10/29/2009, -4/+57***** THE RIAA!
- JDLamb88, on 10/29/2009, -3/+54Too bad we live in bizarro world.
- flood6, on 10/29/2009, -2/+52'“The Stockholm City Court is located in Stockholm. Stockholm is in Sweden. Swedish borders apply. Frederick and Godfrid live outside Sweden, even outside the EU. The Pirate Bay is outside the EU,” he told SR.
“How then can the Stockholm District Court, Sweden, get to decide that people abroad must not work on a site in another country?”'
The rhythm of this argument reminded me of the Chewbacca Defense. - thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -2/+50Reminds me of some childish *****
"You cant!"
"Why not?"
"Well...you just cant ok!"
What a load of sausage - TheCash, on 10/29/2009, -3/+46Almost as much as they like the taste of RIAA dick, it would seem.
- thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -3/+42They may eat all the dicks
- twiztidsinz, on 10/29/2009, -0/+39Yeah... it's been "down for maintenance" for almost 2 months now (Sept 14th)...
There was an update on Sept 26th saying that there was data loss... and on Oct 8th a list of trackers was added to the page, but for the past 21 days.... nothing. - LonesomeFighter, on 10/29/2009, -2/+35except mine. i like mine to remain untouched by the RIAA. everything they touch falls apart.
- thrashermx, on 10/29/2009, -6/+38They will never stop the Pirate Bay.
- Xaevier, on 10/29/2009, -2/+32This is almost as threatening as when the mayor of Newark banned Conan from New Jersey.
- hootenanny1, on 10/29/2009, -2/+31Does anyone know where they are located now?
- kopiwrite, on 10/29/2009, -12/+40LOL
- speedbrown, on 10/29/2009, -0/+23Its been that way for months now, I doubt its 'maintenance'.... so whats really goin' on?
- Aeroboy, on 10/29/2009, -0/+23Sounds like they've taken a leaf out of the RIAA's book.
- Iamien, on 10/29/2009, -3/+22***** THE MPAA!
- thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -1/+20I may have just suffered a stroke of retarded for a second, It took me like 5 minutes to make sure that was correct
- zbeast, on 10/29/2009, -3/+21Don't quit it well worth the battle. This Pirate Bay thing has taken on a life of it's own.
It's no longer about the site, it's now become personal. It's more of less a pissing match on both sides. - Vaiper, on 10/29/2009, -3/+21This plus the destruction of net neutrality really makes me wonder what the fart the people in power are thinking. Maybe I could the look the other way too if I was being funded by the RIAA and all the major cell providers. Where is my check?
- Abscess2, on 10/29/2009, -2/+20What torrent site has a search option even close to TPB. I keep waiting for these PB replacements and they dont even get close.
- Khast, on 10/29/2009, -1/+18Naw, it is only going to put a speed bump in the road. It will only be a matter of time before we figure out that we can always go around it. (Darknet is inevitable)
- thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -2/+19Whoa, I never thought about it that way before
Let me rephrase
They may eat everyone else's dick - digitalpencil, on 10/29/2009, -1/+17they keep trying don't they.. bless ;)
seriously though, how in ***** does the Stockholm District Court hope to leverage legal jurisdiction over citizens outside their country's borders, in a company that does not operate in their country and when they can't even verify who is actually operating the site anyway?
ah well, they give us all a laugh i guess.. carry on boys, the internets await your next pointless endeavour to govern a global body of individuals without having any legal jurisdiction whatsoever.
afaik, there currently hosted at the cyberbunker but a quick look at their site shows that the bunker is currently for sale.. no doubt the Dutch authorities will order the site to be taken down when enough pressure is applied by the MAFIAA but then TPB will simply jump ship again, it's a ceaseless cat and mouse game across the globe, how do they ever hope to succeed?! - Iceman21, on 10/29/2009, -2/+17If you visit demonoid.com the page will tell you, down for maintenance and some added news.
- thebreach, on 10/29/2009, -3/+17Are you being obvious or sarcastic
- justdanne, on 10/29/2009, -4/+17Piratpartiet 2010
- Iamien, on 10/29/2009, -2/+15TBP is not all of piracy. there are thousands upon thousands of sites around that do exactly what thepiratebay does, and many of them do it much better, TPB just became more popular.
- bmad965, on 10/29/2009, -3/+15Are you asking a question
- ringo0309, on 10/29/2009, -0/+12It doesn't make sense!
- Heiminator, on 10/29/2009, -1/+13But,but...In Soviet Russia KGB shoots you for not sharing
- FearlessFreep, on 10/29/2009, -0/+11when do they end up based on Sealand?
- zinc6471, on 10/29/2009, -1/+12the same ppl who always have, the ones who click on email spam
- easyone, on 10/30/2009, -0/+10Sounds like they've taken a leaf out of the USA's book.
