- Lancelot9201, on 07/08/2008, -1/+137Did anyone really expect any other conclusion.!! The letter of the law has nothing to do with justice, It's all about protecting big Business.. If Keyzer had been found guilty it would have opened up "Warner" to litigation & we couldn't have that..
- stonebear, on 07/08/2008, -4/+104It's now apparent the "socialist" Swedes have come down with good old American style fascism. It's the last place I would have expected.
- Shogi, on 07/08/2008, -3/+63Pirate Bay may not be the most legal thing in the world, but at least they aren't corrupt.
- rl1cool, on 07/08/2008, -3/+58I bet this wouldn't have happened in Sealand. AMIRIGHT?
- UnstableMind, on 07/08/2008, -1/+53Wow, I'm surprised about this, even for Sweden. I thought they were leaders in freedom and anonymity. I didn't think they could be bought out. I guess everyone has a price. :(
- jezdynamo, on 07/08/2008, -0/+42In honor of the cop, I will now go to TPB to click some ads.
- dsmx, on 07/08/2008, -1/+41What are you talking about? The pirate bay operates totally legally which is why it can't be shut down by the Swedish police.
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -3/+41Wow sweden turned into the USA overnight, i feel bad that you guys are becoming us. I hope bush doesn't become your next ruler

Well, you know
We all want to change the world"
If they keep this ***** up, they're going to get a revolution, and I don't think it will be all nice and pleasant. Who the ***** do these people think they are??? - inactive, on 07/08/2008, -5/+38***** THE RIAA!!!
there now u can't say it - Changa, on 07/08/2008, -0/+25No, Warner would just have hired mercenaries to take them out.
- AlienMushroom, on 07/08/2008, -1/+26Conflict of interest.
- bbliss17, on 07/08/2008, -1/+24I hope TPB owns em all
- freaky2k, on 07/08/2008, -0/+23I think his point was that the other police/court system, are not going to even investigate what that 1 idiot cop did. In other words, it is more than 1 cop acting like a fascist dick.
- Changa, on 07/08/2008, -0/+21Are you paying your ASCAP fees to perform that song here???

Long live The Pirate Bay! - freaky2k, on 07/08/2008, -0/+18What the hell...
They won't even investigate? That's ridiculous. If there were Zero evidence, I'd understand...BUT there IS rudimentary evidence...meaning it should definitely be investigated, even if only at a small level.
Damnit Sweden, get it together! - Netrilix, on 07/08/2008, -0/+17That was some freaky *****. That song popped into my head about 30 seconds ago, and the last thing I was going to do before popping in that Beatles album was read one more Digg article. Then I saw your comment.
- Matri, on 07/09/2008, -2/+18So is Google, and they're actually based in the US, so why aren't THEY being charged?
- LeeSoong, on 07/09/2008, -0/+15A corporate shill and government stooge at the same time...
What conflict of interest? - rz8472, on 07/08/2008, -0/+13The imperative is clear... move to the Cocos Islands, just like TVLinks did.
- hugolp, on 07/08/2008, -1/+13In Spain they are legal. Only countries with ***** up laws think sharing is something wrong. Sharing is a good thing, ask your grandma. Its just stupid business people that are trying to convince you that sharing is wrong, and that is very ***** up.
- phoomp, on 07/08/2008, -0/+12Well, that, and a justice system willing to prosecute based on the laws of another country.
- SquigglyP, on 07/09/2008, -2/+14Quick, someone hack the Warner bank records and find out how much money just got transfered to Sweden!!

Sharing ideas or concepts is very sane too. And thinking that sharing somethin not material is wrong is ***** up. Is totally ***** up.
Copyright is a very modern concept and has been arround for a very short time. It was developed to protect artists from big record companies. Now is being use by big record companies to thread music listener and keep control of the business. Copyright has lost its purpouse and should be taken away. Is not valid anymore.
Music players have a lot of expouse and support this days thanks to the internet and to the posibilities of digital music. Music can do a lot of money. On the other hand record companies dont look so good. Their business is over and they should look for another job, and let the artist and the listeners do their way, instead of keeping the industry under control by threatning and jailing their customers. Its insane. - superkendall, on 07/08/2008, -1/+9Linking to pirated material is not the same as pirating it. The Pirate Bay hosts not one scrap of illegal material on its own servers. That is why it's still running...

- Matri, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6No, it's a "Just Us" system.
- sarixe, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6There is no Keyzer Soze!!
- geminister, on 07/08/2008, -2/+8Sweden, socialist? Get real man, that was like a century ago! Sweden has been one of the US' best lapdogs for decades.
- BoneStamp, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7Cops usually get a lot of vacation and/or days off, and they deserve it and probably need it. But, if you're a cop, you shouldn't be able to work for a large company with lots of resources on your time off. Small company (under 20 people), fine... should a conflict of interest arise, it shouldn't ever be significant enough to worry about.
- KeillRandor, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Actually - copyright was originally invented to protect book factory owners - (to stop people copying books so they could get the money back for building the factory) - it was only later on that the berne convention was set up, and then changed it to include such things as promoting the arts etc..
If anything what's happening now is just taking copyrights right back to their root - protecting the corporations profits at the expense of humanity. Unfortunately, since then, information has become so easily copied and distributed, that its value is now very little. So they want to try and do everything they can to create artificial value, (scarcity), for their works...
Yes, some information and creative works will always be valuable, but it should ultimately be the people that decide how much something is worth, and not the corporations... - Buckbeak, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4When the government and the police have no respect for the law, are they then surprised when we don't either?
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3What, are you 12? Keep working on those poems, Bukowski.
- zinc6471, on 07/09/2008, -1/+4i think your missing the overall atmosphere of digg here.
- SquigglyP, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3the way to get rid of the sort of power over music that you are talking about is to STOP SUPPORTING THOSE BANDS. Stop listening to music that is signed to a record label. If Copyright was made to protect artists from the 'corporations' (heh, yeah, it was a ***** corporate lawyer that developed the idea in the first place), then the artists are ***** idiots for signing a piece of paper that gives all of their rights to the corporation. The comics industry used to be the same way, but after a while the artists and writers got sick of inventing great characters and then having Marvel and DC steal them, so they demanded to get the copyrights to all of their works in the contracts and bang. Now there are a TON of comics out there published by the comic publishers, but OWNED by the writer / artist. The same thing could happen in the music industry. The problem is that most of the 'musicians' making 'music' are more interested in making a ***** of money than their art. They couldn't ***** care less about the ownership of the work so long as they can have a cut from royalties.
So just stop listening to them. Listen to unsigned bands, and SUPPORT THEM. Hell, start your own indie label and show those nasty huge corporate bastards how to do it in this day and age. That sort of ***** is what the US is built on, and that's EXACTLY how those huge corporate ***** got their start back in the day. There are plenty of bands out there who are ***** fantastic, and yet y0u've never heard of them because they aren't on a store shelf or on the radio.
Of course, it might be hard to know what bands you're supposed to like or not like since your friends won't be listening to the exact same ***** you are, and you'll have to actually think for yourself, but give it a shot. It's worth it in the long run. - notwizt, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Sweden has a right wing government.
- incd, on 07/09/2008, -2/+4LEAVE BRIT-- THE PIRATE BAY ALONE
- ensiid, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Dugg for hilarity of being offended that Sweden is being stereotyped as fascist, but not mentioning that America was also mentioned in the same stereotype. Oh sweet irony.
- magusat999, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2The Pirate bay is no different than Google. They just show people where links are. You can find the same links on Google that you find on Pirate bay - actually even more. Pirate Bay doesn't share files, it just reveals the files location - just like Google, and for that reason they should be treated no different than any other search engine. Why is one above reproach and the other isn't? Google is the biggest contributor to illegal file sharing there is - it's so hypocritical to support, and celebrate the worst offender on Earth - while on the other hand railroad someone who doesn't even compare in "transgressions" to the one held so dear.
- bbliss17, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2people need to leave them alone! bullies! I say!
