- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I think you mean http://www.stealthisfilm.com/
- metalica77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12i'm downloading the torrent as we speak i hope it's a good movie just like that movie thepiratebay made i just can't remember the name off the top of my head.
- seanieb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10If i get a chance I'll pop a torrent up for a 700mb divx
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6google or youtube link would be appreciated
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6... I was.. for the first time ever... wanting for a Google video link. I'm downloading Ubuntu Ultimate gamers.iso and it's going to take about another 10 hours to get done.
- Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Or even the 1.37GB 2 CD versions. Although I wish they didn't split it up like that. One 1.37GB file would be nice.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"Now we have youtube."
Are you holding up youtube as a purveyor of high quality (as in resolution, picture quality, etc - not content) videos?
Uhmm.... - Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Some interesting arguments so far, nothing new or earth shattering. This film needs some editing, these crazy Canadians ramble...
- gravis86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's the direct link to the torrent:
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3624850
And I'll be seeding at least 5 or 6 times over once I finish downloading it. - lament, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5this is seeded by the piratebay tracker.
I'm connected to 7 seeds and 41 peers and getting < 10kB/second.
jesus christ. no wonder i stick to private bittorrent sites. you guys can't open ports or share your connection for *****. - wallryan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3just looks like a rip of steal this film!
- nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4come on if digg can crash websites, Im sure we can have the fastest seeded torrent link too
- nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3gross
- ElHombreloco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I remember seeing the same guy, telling the same story in another piracy documentary.
Can't remember which documentary though. - HalFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2200 KB/s down, 960 KB/s up. :( Seed people.
- oriolesfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed. I was in disbelief when that guy finally got around to his conclusion. Worst argument ever.
- MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would anyone be interested in a torrent of just the audio? Documentaries work well in audio-only form.
If there is interest I can dump the audio out of the google video files or the DVD and throw up a torrent. - a1cshowoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2same reason as me. its evidently too hard to seed a file around for a few hours for most of the bittorrent artards.
- Leonichol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Phy
Actually. I'm on a £20 p/m plan (that's somewhere around $38 to you) for 30GB peak, 300GB offpeak at 8Mbit/s. Being that I'm in the UK, I get raped over bandwidth (despite this package being one of the more generous). So although it isn't 'our' fault, it certainly at the very least... a problem, for the person who wanted to spread their documentary to as many as possible. - andycr512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was also shocked by his arguments about DRM. It was basically:
"The reason DRM is a problem is because it doesn't work everywhere. The reason it doesn't work everywhere is simply because technology is not sufficient to convert a .WMV (sic, he meant .wma) file to a format an iPod can play. Why would I want to make it HARD for someone to experience my music?? Do I LOOK stupid?! (At which point I screamed YES!!!!!)"
He acts like theres no such thing as a .wma to .mp3 converter! Either he is clueless, or trying to steer people away from the REAL issue of why their media won't play. - kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The head of the CRIAL makes a good point. We're taught to share which runs counter to copyright law.
- andycr512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The recording industry rep made me want to throw my keyboard out the window. He ALMOST understood what is actually going on. Brief overview:
When you were little, they tried to teach you to share. (YES!! He gets it! Sharing is good!)
And you would say no, because you knew if you shared, something of yours would be gone. (YES!!! He is finally understanding! This is what makes computers unique!)
But with music, you can share infinitely and not lose anything of yours! (YES!!!! He's in our camp! He understands how useful that is!!)
So "piracy" isn't really sharing, there is no altruism to it. It isn't truly sharing. They would look at it differently if when they shared their music, they lost half of what they shared. Then how many people would do it? (ARGH! He ran to the 99th yard then fell on his face!!)
He was going right down the list of arguments I would make, then drew the wrong conclusion from them! If sharing something that can be shared infinitely isn't valid sharing, then selling something that can be resold infinitely isn't really a valid business model!!!!
Good GRIEF. He just couldn't bear to follow through with the obvious conclusion of his point, because it would reveal that he is doing business the wrong way... - Koray, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Been a while since I've found a torrent that downloaded at over 750kB/s. Nice.
Edit: haha, damn. Some very generous seeder just dropped because I'm now downloading at 10kB/s. :( - Zal91, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woo hoo. I know the guy who made this, he is very talented.
- FurtThePirate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@strictnein
Its coke addicted polar bears, not penguins
-penguins are southern - kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When they floated the tack on of about $5 for each broadband connection where it'd allow you to download all you want, I was all for it. But instead they'll be inflexible.
- Seal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There was a pre-release of the "On Piracy" doc before StF was out.
- gmg761, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ironic a film about piracy not in xvid, IRC or Usenet.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Dang Canadians, with their penguins and maple syrup.
- dio33, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Just so people know, the production is focused on Canada.
- Rorrim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Just because people were asking for avi's on the comments FTA:
With firefox, the videodownloader extension allows you to save the google video's FLV file as an AVI file.
VideoDownloader: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/
(See below for google video urls for on piracy)
Started dl'ing avis in a few seconds. It's very convenient if you'd like to save lots of videos from google videos, youtube, metacafe, etc - azee1v1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Canadians are boring as hell, aye
- jake8689, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2don't forget those garbage can heads
- Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2not fans of sarcasm around these parts
- gravis86, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I'm both downloading at 200kB and uploading at 200kB as I'm typing this.
Fiber Optics FTW! - HalFTW, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6Piracy FTW!
- phynodedotnet, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1It's not our fault you're on the $8.95/mo PeoplePC economy plan.
- WetSplatter, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Sounds like someone needs to UPGRADE their bandwidth.
- Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4DVD rips are so 90s quality. Now we have youtube.
What is Digg?
