You didn't even look at the article did you? - nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -4/+178@simpleid
"The digg one is quite over-exadurated ..."
Damn, after reading that, I can't even remember the right way to spell it (I'm not exadurating). - bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -6/+131the digg character's hilarious... and so true... :D
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+106I think slashdot's submit->editor-approval model will always be inherently 'inferior' in terms of speed compared to digg. However, you will almost always have a better signal-noise ratio on Slashdot (believe it or not ;) ) So it's a trade-off between quality and quantity - it seems quantity is winning. Not to say there aren't some really good articles on digg, just the discussions probably aren't as profound - relatively speaking - on digg as they are on Slashdot.
- AWBoy666, on 10/12/2007, -10/+113I never even check slashdot anymore :( The articles show up on Digg sooner.
- fober, on 10/12/2007, -12/+104I'm suing that guy for using my likeness without my permission.
Uhh, I mean...
OMG TOP 10 WAYS IM GOIN 2 PWN THAT GUY 4 USIN MY IMAGES - HeatVision, on 10/12/2007, -4/+90Ubuntu iPod..heheheh, can't wait until those come out ;)
- ExSlashdotter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+84Every time I check Digg (even one hour to the next), the homepage is totally different. On slashdot, that's not necessarily the case. The frequency of stories is just lower on slashdot.
I will say that the comments (for the most part) are way better on slashdot. Less 'zOMG BEST PIC EVER!!1!1one!', more actual informed discussion. - Erowid, on 10/12/2007, -6/+86@halleyscommet: It looks like he read it, he just didn't realize that Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, and Slashdot aren't all Digg. The comment seems to be about the Reddit pic... I mean, with a title like "A cartoon illustration of digg & other social media sites", description like "Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, and Slashdot drawn as cartoon characters.", and titles above each pic describing which site the comic is targetting, I can see how he could have made that mistake. :/
- kaelyiesta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+70I think digg's redneckish hat was particularly clever. Bit more subtle than the *****...
- DatoeDakari, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64Yes it is true, Digg is a monster. I bet Kevin is proud of his baby:-)

- pitchpitch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64AMAZING
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+62I loved the "How to pickup girls that like rounded corners" line for Del.icio.us. It's the only one that made me laugh.
- adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -5/+61I always say
Digg for the news
Slashdot for the discussions
Reddit for a less sophomoric Digg
Fark for the laughs and photoshops - jordansampson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56saying something someone doesn't like..... that's a burying, saying something against apple/mac/Linux..... that's a burying, Talking about someone else getting dugg down..... you better believe that's a burying.
- Scrappy1850, on 10/12/2007, -7/+56id hit it
- CPoe, on 10/12/2007, -8/+48Digg is sexy
- buhatkj, on 10/12/2007, -10/+43you are absolutely correct, and it is damn sad you got buried for it.
this site is a mac and linux fanboy/ bleeding heart/ bush bashing cesspool.
i'm going for most buried comment evar :-) - jcenters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31Personally, I think Digg is the best thing to happen to Slashdot in a long time. The trolls rarely bother with it anymore, long overdue changes are being made, and the userbase is overall a lot more thoughtful.
It might not be "where it's at" right now, but it sure isn't going away. - raynar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33that about sums it up.
- Poopoopants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29:'(, slashdot.
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -20/+47I don't understand why stevejsam is getting dugg down. It's very clear that the digg pic has Linux, Mac, Apple in it (i.e. Ubuntu, IPod, Steve Jobs). And that's exactly how I feel about this site. Linux and Apple advocacy, and then a few interesting unrelated articles.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+34"I never even check slashdot anymore :( The articles show up on Digg sooner."
If you never check it how can you tell they show up here faster? do you have any idea how many summaries are blatantly stolen from slashdot, along with the most relevent link? - KingBabi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Future most dugg story on digg:
Steve Jobs shows us how to dual-boot Ubuntu and Mac OS X on an iPhone. - FBMGriever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Hah, this one made me laugh pretty hard.
I think it'd be great if Digg changed their favicon to that blob guy for just one day :) - themarq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Really needs a FARK.
- kepsux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21@jcenters
I totally agree. I come to digg for news. Two days later I go to /. for discussion. I'll prob get buried for this, but lets be honest. People that post comments on digg tend to be the stupid rejects from fark...and thats some bad news right there. Slashdots discussion can be amazingly insightful. - Soapdish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22's can also be used as a contraction as it is in _it's_ or _that's not_ vs. _that isn't_
- OpenFuture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Digg needs a gastric bypass
- ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21FUNNIEST _______ EVER
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19HAHA! *****, I about shat myself when I saw the Digg one.
The illustrator should have had that fat pile of ***** Digg monster sitting on a big pile of money.
Money can buy popularity, but not class. - JrGhoull, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19hahah oh man i havent laughed like that in a while! gotta say the digg and del.icio.us ones were the best in my book...digg first with a close 2nd by del.icio.us
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15TITLE SAYS IT ALL!|
- hybrid8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14inaccurate. not enough !!!!!! or (Pic) or sensationalist headlines ;) still love digg though =D
- squishee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16All of Digg's poopies need to be falling onto Netscape. Come to think of it, Digg should be sitting on Netscape and doing the "Quit hitting yourself! Quit hitting yourself!" to it.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15I would lump the reddit description with digg as well.
- MrSpontaneous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Actually, I think that is a nod to Bloom County's (and later Opus's) Bill the cat.
- MisterMocie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11They do know him, he just don't know them
- friedcalamari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Let's steel it for digg's mascot!
- ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Just in case you were wondering, Jimzip, I have made it my mission to digg down every comment you sign off on. Please stop.
- bIuebonics, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@driftwood07
amazing, i see you've passed 4th grade grammar. ever wonder why you use "its" to form the possessive instead of "it's"? - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The only thing sadder than a grammar troll, is a grammar troll who doesn't know grammar.
- SanTe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10> Three things:
>
> * It's monday
> * It's day one of being caffeine free - I'm shooting for a week
> * I'm leaving for Hawaii tomorrow on vacation
Best way to feel like ***** on your Hawaiian vacation: give up caffeine two days before. Not smart. Wait until you get back dude. - JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"I will say that the comments (for the most part) are way better on slashdot. Less 'zOMG BEST PIC EVER!!1!1one!', more actual informed discussion."
I agree, but their commenting system is broken and needs Up/Downvotes like Digg to filter out the occasional *****. They also need a simpler layout for their comments so a highly commented article doesn't take an hour to just scroll through, they put too much fluff on it (the huge dividers between comments for example). - TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8true i don't read /. comments often because the damn dividers and hidden replies.digg needs to fix theirs too because when you get to 100+ comments its a pain to load =/
- sp111, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The digg one is exactly what i see everytime i come here. ***** Ubuntu and apple
- subgeniusd, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16@stevejsam etc etc Just because you don't have a bunch of reactionary ***** here parroting whatever right wing propaganda is spoonfed by RNC radio does not mean we are all "commies" or "liberals".
The tech zones are frequented largely by apolitical, techno-libertarian and just-don't-give-a-***** types. I know how hard concepts like "this, that and the other" are for simpletons so just go back to Free Republic and whine with the knuckleheads. -
