- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15This is digg. If Kevin Rose was involved the title would be "OMG BREAKING KEVIN ROSE INVENTS WEB-BASED GROUP CHAT".
I have a question about openid if anyone's knowledgable about that stuff. User information is the only commodity most "web 2.0 companies" have, right? With openid the site does the site not have any info, or have access to the info you entered in the myopenid rego form? - Konstantino, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yes, but it was confirmed that Kevin was working on a new startup involving IMing.
- timdorr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6This company is based out of Portland, so it would be quite a hike for Kevin to hold down these two positions, plus do all the other stuff he does. Also, he's not anywhere on the staff page: http://janrain.com/about/ Although, there is another Kevin :P
- mrfish, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Hmm the only interesting thing here is OpenID. No users so it kinda sucks. Web 2.0 101 - How not to bomb on your first day. GET CONTENT!

- JayRod, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Mr. Pibb?
- Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Sounds tasty!
- iburl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The Mr. Pibb laywers will love this name.

- mwosh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Mr. Pibb is a poor imitation of Dr. Pepper. Dude didn't even get his degree

Just flip the letters around and you can get one from the other. - Brog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pibb: Built on top of Google's web toolkit
Pibb Xtra: Built on top of Dr Pepper's formula
Coincidence?
FYI, Pibb (the drink) is owned by Coca Cola, which is why you only see it in places with Coke exclusive contracts (i.e. Dr Pepper is not an option)
- Ravenark, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1They're definetely going to run into legality issues with that name...since Mr. Pibb is now Pibb Xtra and the Pibb name is franchised...
- bsolidgold, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4They're completely unrelated... one's a drink, the other's a chatroom.
Did you ever wonder why they have Delta Airlines and Delta faucets?
Now you know. - zerhynn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1The fact that the two products are completely unrelated does not excuse the fact that the name is trademarked. They WILL experience legal issues over the naming of the product if Pibb desires to sue them.
Welcome to America, land of the free and the home of the sued. - bsolidgold, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1You're wrong.
- Otto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Trademarks are not all-inclusive. They only cover a specific type of thing.
In the case of the "Pibb" trademark, it's for the soft drink only. Here's their registration for the "Pibb" trademark, in fact.

- sulaco, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Ravenark = uninformed
zerhynn = idiot
- bsolidgold, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4They're completely unrelated... one's a drink, the other's a chatroom.
- JaaX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10It sucks when there's no DEMO and it forces you to make an account to preview. :/
- juliob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5yeah but this is openid. sooner or later you'll have to create an account. so jump to http://myopenid.com
- Atomic1fire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1just use aol(openid.aol.com/youurscreename or yahoo(idproxy.net uses yahoo logins throught bbauth)
or you can also use typekey(profile.typekey.com/username) or livejournal(username.livejournal.com)
openid is url based and there are allready obvious ways of logging in you just need to find them
- andrewmp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10All your chats are belong to Google!
- fober, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2All it needs are some Red Vines and it'll be 'crazy delicious'.
- xatx1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1dugg for the cool name - Pibb. I love it...
- gajillion, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Damn. I read that as Pihb. Now that's a group chat I could get into.
- pitchpitch, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Put it in your head!
- drmessano, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Is this like a Java Based IRC Applet + Some Web 2.0 + Authentication?

- juliob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2tangler.com, lingr.com anyone?
- eightyd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I've always preferred Dr. Pepper.
- Meekrok, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This service is horrible, there is no prevention of HTML use, so the threads are full of shock site spam.
- hankyone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1and goatse

- hankyone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Application error
Change this error message for exceptions thrown outside of an action (like in Dispatcher setups or broken Ruby code) in public/500.html - elstevo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0so its a chat room, then?
wow... revolutionary 2.0 - atmablue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Anyone notice that rotating the letters in "pibb" 180 degrees gives you "d!gg"? Assuming that the ! is really an "i", I suspect that this is associated somehow with digg.
- jaythree9, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2BarCamp FTW! I just attended my first one and it was great. Super informative, inspirational and exciting. It's always great to see what others are working on. As informative (if not more) than the we-gots-a-fancy-hotel conferences I've been to.
- aura, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Web 2.0 Checklist:
1. Has a name unrelated to the service. Check
2. Name isn't spelt correctly. No, not a true Web 2.0 Service
3. Uses AJAX. Check
4. Includes the word 'social' anywhere on the site. Check

- DynamicJR, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Many of the comments and suggestions have been addressed, I think they are still actively developing the app... better than Tangler IMHO...
