- badqat, on 11/30/2008, -12/+139I for one, welcome our new robotic and ethical overlords that won't commit war crimes.
- Shadoblak, on 12/01/2008, -2/+78Hasn't science fiction taught us that no matter what we do, robots will always kill us?
- Chairboy, on 12/01/2008, -3/+751. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. - suburbanWMD, on 12/01/2008, -1/+57Doesn't the military watch ***** movies?
- copypastry, on 12/01/2008, -3/+57John Connor: You just can't go around killing people.
The Terminator: Why?
John Connor: What do you mean why? 'Cause you can't.
The Terminator: Why?
John Connor: Because you just can't, OK? Trust me on this. - identityxcrysis, on 12/01/2008, -1/+54"DON'T KILL ME, DON'T KILL ME!

You can't try a toaster for arson. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+39Doesn't matter how many people you hire to ensure the ethics of building these machines. Eventually all you need is one person or group to hack them.
- doiveo, on 11/30/2008, -1/+38Mark, I know you are 14 and just getting out your Hannah Montana phase but, you should really rent Terminator 1 and 2 (skip 3) sometime soon. Too may cultural references abound.

- sockpuppets, on 12/01/2008, -0/+23They anticipated that would be your response.
- archer104, on 12/01/2008, -0/+234. A robot may not put squirrels down his pants for the purpose of gambling.
- DimHearted, on 12/01/2008, -2/+24the humans are dead, i poked one he,s dead
- RawMeat3000, on 12/01/2008, -0/+22Not if you neglect to define your enemy as a "human being". Dehumanize the enemy and it makes it easier for the robots to kill. Assuming they can tell the difference between friendly and enemy forces, anyway.
- Bjango, on 12/01/2008, -0/+18You mean "Danger, Danger Will Robinson"?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+19They'll reach down your throat and pull out your ***** heart! It's what they do! It's ALL they do!

- Nintendesert, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7Women usually keep reaching until they get to your testicles, then they pull.
- TSK05, on 12/01/2008, -1/+8In addition to above, Asimov tried to circumvent his own laws many times. I don't think the robots were ever successful in his stories and books but there were many attempts - I'm pretty sure the suggestion was that it's possible.
(Side note: The movie I, Robot clearly contradicts "1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm." Greater good was the reasoning of the robot, but through this reasoning at least one human must be hurt, thus violating the first rule of robotics. Pretty sure this is also the conclusion Asimov came to when he "explored" the zeroth law of robotics in his later works) - jonahan52, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7Please don't run these things with Windows...
