- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Wow, that link is dubious at best. They state that 2005 was the warmest year on record and because of that Penn was lying, well the show was made in 2002. The link to the graph showing the trend line seems to show that just in the past couple of years there was a dramatic increase in temp, however, compare the peaks of all of the greys to the peaks in the past 20 years, showing that the max temps are fairly consistant. They attack Penn because he stated that we are not sure yet whether global warming is real, that is not a crazy statement to make. Also, the rebuttal to the 1% of the species dying claim is weak at best. They quote 1 peer reviewed paper on the subject that states that it could rise higher. Overall I think the link you provided is *****, and the episode on the subject was quite good and accurate.

Now since many of the 23000 that will die a year may be unknown, we will estimate that we know 1% of all species on earth. Please show me the 230 species that went extinct this year that we know of. Better yet, show me 2 species that went extinct this year that we know of.

Again, it's been updated. There are far more sources now.
