- bicycleman, on 02/07/2010, -3/+79PayPal ripped me off for $11k in 2008. Took me a lawyer, a police officer, and six months to get it all back. Only if Google Checkout would get in shape to properly compete and get global.
- asami21, on 02/07/2010, -3/+75Paypal and it's owner Ebay have really turned to crap =/
- sparkplug890, on 02/07/2010, -1/+63But is my payment to Nigeria safe?
- Vodd9, on 02/07/2010, -3/+56How the hell are paypal still in business after all the crooked ***** they pulled on their users?
- quickdigger, on 02/07/2010, -4/+56LOL, all those "professional' Indian SEOs are screwed now.
- gumballer, on 02/07/2010, -4/+53They're not your Pal, buddy!
- givemesnow, on 02/07/2010, -13/+54***** PAYPAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- greenlight2001, on 02/07/2010, -1/+37I want to hear more about this story. I'm being serious, this sounds like an interesting story.
- Bloodwine, on 02/07/2010, -0/+36I think this has to do with RBI (Reserve Bank of India) requiring extra paperwork and power over PayPal transactions for foreign exchanges with Indian currency.
In other words, RBI wants PayPal to actually be a bank and PayPal wants to pretend to be a bank without any of downsides. - RUFiO006, on 02/07/2010, -2/+37Dear sirs we have team of 20 writers make good articles up to 100 a day. Highest of quality articles only. Check PMB.
- BloggerSavvy, on 02/07/2010, -2/+33If they choose to do such reversals, they should pay, not the users!
- Hedison, on 02/07/2010, -1/+30Could be a major problem for all the internet marketing chaps over there
- mindsnare1, on 02/07/2010, -7/+33Paypal is quickly becoming a monopoly. First that stopped accepting personal payments on ebay - remember when you could pay for your ebay item with a personal check? Shame on you Paypal. - More like payshark!!! Its easier to do business with the mob then paypal.
- Super6, on 02/07/2010, -0/+26If only Google would make checkout more user-friendly...
- jase08, on 02/07/2010, -12/+35I feel for the honest Indian users who are disadvantaged by this but honestly there seem to be a higher percentage of dishonest scammers from that region.
- thorny904, on 02/07/2010, -4/+24They're not your buddy, friend!
- bluenile, on 02/07/2010, -2/+19They're not your friend, mate!
- OnAsideNote, on 02/07/2010, -6/+23www.paypalsucks.com
- paradigmxx, on 02/07/2010, -2/+16PayPal has the DUMBEST ***** people working there I've ever known. Just a bunch of stupid underwriters who dictate peoples businesses.
- uncoolcentral, on 02/07/2010, -5/+19***** PayPal
- Super6, on 02/07/2010, -2/+16They're not your mate, guy!
- tgc1, on 02/07/2010, -1/+15I think you missed an exclamation point.
- nurbsenvi, on 02/07/2010, -3/+15Seriously, Paypal can go to hell.
- catvllvs, on 02/07/2010, -1/+13err, price depends on expenses.
My food = $100 pw
My rent = $370 pw
et
Their food = $20 pw
Their rent = $50 pw
I'm sure you can work the rest out. - anteyekon4myst, on 02/07/2010, -4/+15Waiting for successful Indian created version of paypal that will lock original paypal out of one of the largest emerging economies in the world...way to screw this one up
- mynameisdi, on 02/07/2010, -5/+16Really? Probably coming from a 17 year old Indian.
Maybe you should try living in Europe for an Indian salary kid. - bicycleman, on 02/07/2010, -2/+12hmmm...It is I guess very interesting, yet also very painful to tell as it ruined my life for six months. A mini-documentary could be made as the bad guy escaped with $1.25 million from PayPal users. I'll think about it and what implementations it might have with my business.
- laofmoonster, on 02/07/2010, -6/+16Sadly I'm not surprised. ***** paypal. I was feeling generous one day and wanted to donate to wikileaks, and noticed that at the time they did not accept paypal.
http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20100124/18461378 ...
I then tried to donate to foobar2000, but couldn't find a donate button, and alas: "The donation button has been removed due to PayPal being thieves." - mynameisdi, on 02/07/2010, -16/+26Not protecting PayPal or anything here, but this is a good thing for most Internet Marketers.
I got out of writing SEO content just because some dude from India would do it for 1/10 the price. And instead of hiring a quality writer, people went for 10 crappy ones.
Hopefully that will change now.
And no, I still hate PayPal. - govtdoesnotwork, on 02/07/2010, -0/+10You can see tons of similar ones at http://paypalwarning.com/
- kgerm, on 02/08/2010, -1/+10they're not your guy, chump!
- damack, on 02/07/2010, -0/+9Couldn't agree more.
They've probably done their brand a lot of damage by pulling this *****. Over the years the damage could add up. India is a country you want to be in good standing with to help your margins in the coming years. - pauliusuza, on 02/07/2010, -1/+10Actually from the post it sounds like India's own banks are to blame for this
- socomoddjob, on 02/07/2010, -5/+12good - now all those discount webdesigners can go do something else.
- cuervoman914, on 02/07/2010, -1/+8so, how is paypal still in business? ive heard nothing but horror stories about them
- kelmaster1, on 02/07/2010, -1/+8The reason why is India has a plethora of hackers targeting paypal accounts. I had $80 taken out of my paypal one time for some Bollywood *****, but paypal fixed it (2 weeks later).
- areyouserial, on 02/07/2010, -3/+10This is why I don't use paypal for my business. They have a tendency to cut you off immediately leaving you *****.
- catvllvs, on 02/07/2010, -0/+7+1
- pascalsundhar1, on 02/07/2010, -6/+12It breaks thousands of Indian Paypal users heart as already Indians are struggling to verify their paypal account due to non-availability of credit cards. This new issue going to be talked so much among Indian affiliate marketers.
:( - Yage2006, on 02/07/2010, -0/+6Another good example of why we need a better competitor to paypal.
- albi123, on 02/08/2010, -0/+6They wouldn't do this just for ***** and giggles. They probably had a lot of fraudulent transactions, hackers etc come from that region.
- mindsnare1, on 02/07/2010, -3/+8No online banking is not foreign - why should i have to pay a service fee on a etransfer - no service fee on checks! - If you like being ripped of thats fine with me.
- oboshoe, on 02/08/2010, -1/+6
Pay Pal is in bad need of regulation. - tgc1, on 02/07/2010, -0/+5*check* one more reason not to do any business with PayPal.
- kgerm, on 02/08/2010, -0/+5you are very lucky then!
- geoken, on 02/08/2010, -0/+5I don't get the PayPal hate. Maybe I have more leniency for them because I actually used the alternatives (commercial gateway services + php shopping cart) and that avenue was a lot more complicated and costly.
Everyone is trying to act like they're a monopoly but they aren't. There are alternatives. They are just so far out of PayPal's league in terms of simplicity that most people aren't aware of them. Is it PayPal's fault that their method of allowing you to receive online payments involves a simple online button generator and the ability to copy and paste text while the alternatives give you a pdf of their API and instructions on buying SSL certificates. - deepak1uw, on 02/08/2010, -1/+5they're not your chump, dude!
- bklny, on 02/07/2010, -5/+9pay pal sucks!
on another note
eBay has a monopoly going on with pay pal I am surprised the justice department is not looking into this crooked organization - Teburninator, on 02/07/2010, -3/+7I wish I could digg you twice.
- stuffradio, on 02/08/2010, -2/+6They're not your friend, pedro.
