- GorillaSushi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Pageflakes would be a lot nicer if they weren't using fake commenters and spam to advertise. I've been tracking the commenters. At least one of the people to comment on this story is on the Pageflakes payroll. More details here...
http://gorillasushi.com/?q=node/18 - TangentThought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No netvibes? Could've sworn netvibes was more popular than those "webtops."
- Dsyfa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Atlas is still in its Beta state. Wait till the complete version is out.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0From my experience, i can tell that Pageflakes has far better functionalities than other webtops. The most exciting feature is the Sharing of pages. You can have your own personalized page which you can share with selected friends or can publish so that anyone can see it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmm, the sharing feature is ingenious. I can see I can create team sites where my team members can collaborate with each other on the same page using all of Pageflakes modules. Also teacher can create a class page and share with students. Pretty useful for storing meeting notes, shared contacts etc.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i saw netvibes & live.com. pageflakes seems far better than both in the functionalities. pageflakes is improving day by day & in alexa, the ratings are getting high. it proves their usefulness to users. everything in 1 page is really a cool idea. i'd definitely look forward o more things to come in pageflakes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Great to see so many nice comments regarding Pageflakes!
- sourceforge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0IE 6, IE 7, FF 1.5, Opera 9, Maxthon - passed.
Safari, Camino, SongBird, Seamonkey - Failed.
Seems like a problem in Atlas. Why do people use Atlas? Is there any significant benefit over Prototype and raw XML HTTP? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The RSS reader is super cool! It's a complete desktop aggregator replacement. Definitely this one is the most feature complete RSS viewer of all.
- Shurid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0PageFlakes is the number one startup page..in my opinion. It has so many different kind of flakes.. There are flakes for teacher, student, business man, chat lovers… the list go on……o I forget to mention about entertainment flakes…actually u need too see all those flakes for ur seft to understand… just add and checkout each functionality… I loved it..u will too.. I already have to create 5tabs to hold my favorites flakes … who knows what is coming next….:)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Nice to see MS technology is creating pioneer products.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I vomited to see the UI of start.com
Pageflakes is on the other hand nice, clean, neat, very fresh.
I have been using Pageflakes since it has been launched. It’s good to see ranked top in many awards as well as in digg.
I’m an organized man that is why Pageflakes is my choice. - ahuque, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes is the best webtop out there. Google, Live and Netvibes do not have half the features that pageflakes has. My personal favorites include: page sharing and rss reader.
Just add your favorite flakes from the flake gallery, organize in tabs and your good to go. Everything you need from the net in one place. awesome. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I never imagined that moving flake between tabs is either possible. But I amazed to see that it works. All that I had to do is, drag a flake's top and drop into another tab. I don't think moving such modules between tabs is possible in other webtops. Outstanding!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The article doesn't mention which service is the most popular one. The editor tested the different services based on their quality and features.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes is good ajax enrich web site. Its features r nice and like we use web page like desktop application. Nice work, well done Pageflakes team.
- praveenxp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I like PageFlakes.... PageFlakes is the best
Eat Cornflakes, use Pageflakes - raisulk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes won against Google and Microsoft before. See web2.0awards.org (http://web2.0awards.org) in "Start Pages" category. It has so rich content and nice features, it was obvious.
- we4tech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0gr8 stuff, lot of people are contributing, lot of ideas, lot of features....
more over it base was developed and contributed in bangladesh. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Great to see our achievement in digg, and wow so many great comments already!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes is an excellent startpage app. Latest photos at frontpage and cool videos, also highly customizable.
- nirjhar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes (www.pageflakes.com) is that start page which I use for my all web purpose. I don't want to see any comparison with Pageflakes to others. Its sharing and publishing feature is unique. No other sites have this.
- arifulislam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0looking at the future.....
- rajivdas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Kudos to the Santas behind pageflakes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I had a chat with the youngest founder. Pageflakes name came from Cornflakes because it's his favorite food.
So, eat cornflakes and use pageflakes :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You can make flakes for pageflakes. Either free or get paid for your flake. Just contact them, get a spec, make and submit. More or less same as open source stuff.
- sourceforge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I agree. We should really eat cornflakes and use pageflakes every morning.
When will there be an open source Web top where everyone can contribute? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pageflakes is a startapp that rocks. I usually forget URLs and even forget to check those sites that have miniature version in Pageflakes. I was wondering from where it was named. Cornflakes really?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yeah Bro.
And, also Pageflakes is now much optimized, and unbelievably fast. Look at my experience of time takes to load leading startpages from my dial-up internet:
1st time: Pageflakes: 36 sec, Start: 50 sec, Live: 1 min, 20 sec
After 1st time: Pageflakes: 3 sec, Start: 44 sec, Live: 8 sec - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The best sentence that describes Pageflakes is their slogan: The whole Web at your Fingertips!
- awnik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0When I first saw the page flake, the first thing came to my mind is that “I was looking something like this”. When I show them to my developers their reaction was almost same.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0...but does it beat post-it or a bigger brain?
http://www.somewherein.net/blog/?p=148 - waliau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow!! Pageflakes has unlocked the full power of Web 2.0. Most important to me is that I now have the freedom to create my own home page using the apps I like the most, ie my favorite email, calendar, tasks, stocks, news, document editor and what not.. I am no longer tied to yahoo or google or microsoft.
Kudos to the pageflakes team. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0www.pageflakes.com is my start page now. It is really bring the whole web at my fingertips! Thanks pageflakes team.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Loved Pageflakes. The moment I saw it, it felt like i was waiting for something like it for so long. Smart, efficient and professional approach to serve their users. Unlike other startpages its attentiveness to actually being useful and staying on the field proves how serious they are. Its now is my homepage. Definitely looking forward to spending my days on it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0www.pageflakes.com is superb. No more question against it.
- Rdunzl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The first time I tried out Pageflakes I was really impressed of how nice they have implemented AJAX and how easy and intuitive the user interface felt to me. Since then I've been impressed every time they have implemented new features. Page publishing in two clicks. Page sharing simply by adding ppl's email addresses. The column layout. The nice RSS reader. (!!!!). Sure I could use many more features, but the fact is that Pageflakes is ahead of Google and MS, and what more can you want?
Stay ahead! - Dsyfa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The To-Do List feature of PageFlakes is ingenious !! Keep the good work Omar Vai !
Eat Corn Flakes, do PageFlakes ! - skmithun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well when i see the pageflakes.com I just thought that for a person who heavily depends on internet, must use pageflakes as there start page. This only one page can provide his daily routine, web features that he uses and other information in very short and wuick time. If we analysis google or other apps which use ajax, we must say that pageflakes is better becasue of
=> high customization
=> various flake gallery
=> sharing information
=> and efficiency ( considering the beta version) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I was always using Google as my homepage for searching especially. I didn't know about such site that can hold everything for me. And it's FREE!!! Way too COOL, man!!!
