Overstock Fires NY Affiliates Over Affiliate-Driven Tax Law

sphinn.com — Overstock is taking the easiest way out and just throwing affiliate marketers under the bus to try to avoid the New York affiliate-based sales tax problem. Other affiliate programs are firing their NY affiliates over this too. Amazon is suing the state of New York over this new tax law and other states are looking to pass this law as well.

  • Amitagr, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1So it means that companies like OverStock have used the affiliates for branding and customer acquisition purposes and now they're turning a blind eye towards what is right - paying their affiliates rightfully??
    Is this going to be a big blow to affiliate companies in NY? And since when did internet have a state jurisdiction?
