OLPC had been thrown into turmoil by the stress of trying to achieve the audacious goal of transforming learning by supplying millions of the world's poor children with laptops.

  • BlankVerse, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2The OLPC XO laptop computer, designed for educating children, is an amazing piece of hardware. It has a shockingly low price (less than $200 USD--but only if you are willing to purchase hundreds of thousands of them). The software (including the Sugar interface) is interesting, but still a work in progress. The people in charge of OLPC, however, have made numerous missteps in trying to sell the computers. This article in Business Week covers some of those stumbles, including the 'broken engagement' with Intel, and their waltz with Micro$loth and Windows XP.
