- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure this guy's system is great for him. But for the rest of us there's good software out there that can manage/archive/version files.
- lunarship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally I'd say "archive" ought to imply you're taking more care of it. Perhaps you have it all arranged in a nice collection. "Old" maybe just implies the cardboard-box-under-the-bed "I'll sort it out later" approach.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1old is the description or what gets archived..
but as for his descripts.. i would say old is the trash.. and archives is saved.
why keep the obsolete? - Qwertie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I keep my socks on a shelf in plain view. It helps contribute to the messy atmosphere I like in my room. Yes, we need an anti-digg feature so we can put some stories in their place.
Speaking of text files, it's sad that nobody ever came up with a simple replacement for text files. Some kind of very basic character-level markup that everyone could agree on, with features like bold, underline, italic, proportional vs fixed width. Then there could be an optional extended paragraph-level feature set with stuff like justification, bulleted lists, headings, etc, which more basic editors would ignore...

Because you've got a 300GB hard drive, and you can afford to waste a little of that on text files? - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ahh how is this front page
- qishi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0How about using a revision control system instead?
If this is one of the first lines of your article:
"It’s been a while since I talked about how I’m using text files",
then just stop writing. You have no content anyone cares about.
Coming tomorrow on digg:
I keep my socks in the top drawer. Discuss. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Who cares? :)
