- sk11, on 06/01/2008, -2/+24I'm glad they're finally tackling serious crime. Now if only they would introduce capital punishment for littering.
- Zpanzer, on 06/01/2008, -2/+19Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. - Regbooker, on 06/02/2008, -5/+21Record industry is the one defrauding Music. Somehow I'm in my 20s and find 80s, 70s music much more enjoyable than the ultra-commercial-digitally-enhanced ***** we have now.
- bradanomics, on 06/02/2008, -2/+15Good music that was recently made is out there, you just have to look harder for it.
- keviniskool, on 06/02/2008, -2/+15ALLITERATION OVERLOAD!
- Enigmaxx, on 06/01/2008, -4/+15The full correct title is: OiNK Pre-Releasers Accused of Conspiracy To Defraud Music Industry
- EmitStop, on 06/02/2008, -0/+10You remembered the IFPI this time!
- julianwan, on 06/01/2008, -0/+10Don't worry, the only people who care are superpricks
- PatrickBrown, on 06/02/2008, -1/+9You forget that digg consists mostly of annoying teenagers.
I wish there was a "block annoying teenager" heuristic, but the block user will have to do for now. - OldeEnglish23, on 06/02/2008, -7/+15The 60s to early 70s was the greatest age rock music ever saw, and will ever see. Never again will the music like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jefferson airplane ever be played the same again.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 06/02/2008, -0/+8The Cleveland Police and BPI have no jurisdiction in the US. The RIAA would have to come after users.
It appears to be, as many suggest all along, that the real people they are after are those who were responsible for pre-releases. It is in the industry's best interest to go after those people rather than regular every day users. - pigfister, on 06/02/2008, -3/+11The thing is that the gatekeepers of media, al a sony, universal, warner and emi don't want independents getting a foot hold and oink could have been a model distribution method with many bands and artists releasing content onto the site FOC, they want all revenue directed through them, just like the amercian oil trade agreement where all oil is only traded in dollars.
oink was a great service and all we can do to protect our culture from being sold out completely by sony, universal, warner and emi, is to boycott all things RIAA/IFPI/BPI.
so
BOYCOTT; sony
BOYCOTT; warner
BOYCOTT; universal
BOYCOTT; emi
So i suppose that Trent will be due a visit sometime soon, you know in the UK a paedophile is given a lesser sentence that IP crime, what's wrong with this world?
http://blog.wired.com/music/2007/10/trent-reznor-o ...
Trent Reznor: OiNK Was Better Than ITunes
by Trent Renznor: "I'll admit I had an account there and frequented it quite often. At the end of the day, what made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store. Pretty much anything you could ever imagine, it was there, and it was there in the format you wanted. If OiNK cost anything, I would certainly have paid, but there isn't the equivalent of that in the retail space right now. iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc. Amazon has potential, but none of them get around the issue of pre-release leaks. And that's what's such a difficult puzzle at the moment. If your favorite band in the world has a leaked record out, do you listen to it or do you not listen to it? People on those boards, they're grateful for the person that uploaded it — they're the hero. They're not stealing it because they're going to make money off of it; they're stealing it because they love the band. I'm not saying that I think OiNK is morally correct, but I do know that it existed because it filled a void of what people want."
Real artists want to share their feelings and thoughts where as the RIAA, ect wants to get paid which is why the artists get robbed off of by the record companies in every way possible, for taking the ownership of the artists works to screwing them on digital downloads and refusing to pay up royalties, but as we now know what the RIAA, is like are we actually surprised any more by the tactics of sony, universal, warner and emi.
The BPI Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The RIAA Soundexchange Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The IFPI Are: The same anti consumer lot as listed above!
The MPAA Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, DISNEY, PARAMOUNT, FOX. - eminn3m, on 06/01/2008, -0/+7This is exactly the point of this. Do you think they really care about those few random uploaders? No. They want people to fear, just as you are, whether it will happen across the board and inevitably to them.
- PopcornDave, on 06/02/2008, -0/+7bradanomics is right, there is good music being put out today. However I can attest that there was plenty of crap put out in the 70's too. Trust me, I lived through it. There's crap put out in every generation, it's just now that we have so many other options, the crap floats to the top faster.
- Skooma714, on 06/02/2008, -3/+9ACTIVATE THE ALLITERATION ALARM!
- dkm201, on 06/02/2008, -3/+9Holy God this is the most inane thing I have ever read on digg. What are you, 12? Jesus *****. V for Vendetta is true to life because some dork got busted uploading albums onto Oink? Go outside and run around, kid.
And I had an oink account. - MakiMaki, on 06/01/2008, -1/+7Yeah. Sorry about that, I was distracted during the submission process. Just noticed the hideous spelling mistake as well (Ugh). Emailed digg support so hopefully they'll change it soon.
- pigfister, on 06/02/2008, -0/+4you need to tell ppl who they actually are!

- secleinteer, on 06/01/2008, -2/+4Does anyone know if they plan to go after users outside of the UK?
- sevenalive, on 06/02/2008, -1/+3and i bet you download music, videos, games and software all day long. Tell me how much of your computer is pirated. I bet you have over 15,000 dollars in pirated software/music alone. So why don't you just shut the ***** up you hypocrite, you should be thrown in jail you little immature bitch
- containimated, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Don't hate cliffski. He gets paid to troll.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Because you quote movie lines?
- Chaos12, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2There should be a title edit feature, where proposed new titles are put forward, and a new one can be enacted with a certain majority vote or set number based on the digg promotion algorithm.
- JigoroKano, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Jefferson airplane? Really? Other than "white rabbit", I thought they sounded like Captain & Tennille.
Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix, The Doors, ... should all come before Jefferson Airplane. - yodaj007, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2I've no idea what he said, either.
- Arkphyre, on 06/01/2008, -2/+3Makes me wonder if it's long before they try to go after people using other trackers, I'm sure the BPI will try to find many ways of getting people arrested, not that anyone in the public or parliament is going to try and stop them.
- gavin422, on 06/02/2008, -0/+1Actually, here's the real story. I posted the original comment here on Digg from the waffles.fm forums.
OiNK said he was starting a "rumor", but he never said it was false. Here's a follow-up IRC conversation that I found at waffes.fm:
[oink] to those who assumed because i mentioned a "rumour" in here it has to be false, you're silly.
[BarrySmeth] I am undecided as to it's truthness.
[BarrySmeth] Are you sure either way oink?
[BarrySmeth] I figured from 'rumour' it was uncertain.
[gtg] did tf tell you then oink (like they say), and you posted what they said as a "rumour"
[BarrySmeth] hmm...
[oink] gtg, i knew the story long before publishing, yes.
So yeah, mea culpa for dropping the ball on the last one, but OiNK really could have been less ambiguous. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1http://video.qlbe.com/sitemap/sitemap2.html

" told that they were not alone and that police would be arresting and interviewing more people in connection with the case. Suspects were then taken to their local police station for questioning and required to provide DNA samples and fingerprinting."
All for sharing a CD with no monetary gain? This case is simply an indication of the direction Britain is headed. At this rate a police state is exactly what it will be. - spikyface, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2I'm surprised they haven't already said they had unsecured wifi routers and it cannot be confirmed who actually downloaded the music using their IP address
When the RIAA started randomly suing people in the US, this defense lead to them dropping all charges as soon as it was used
Plus anyone who uses private trackers knows to use a random pseudonym email address so that can't be traced back to them either (these sites get hacked regularly and so it pays to secure yourself by using a different username, email address and password on each site)
Ethics aside, with the proper defense, you can't pin anything on them - cliffski, on 06/02/2008, -3/+4that IS who is on diggs. retarded kiddie thieves. you must be new.
