Norwegian Broadcasting publishes popular TV-series via P2P

nrkbeta.no — NRK - Norwegian Broadcasting has decided to publish the very popular Norwegian series "Nordkalotten 365" with adventurer Lars Monsen for free on the web. No DRM, full quality - MPEG4 H.264, 1024×576 25fps, 3 Mbit/s. No DRM. All eight episodes will be published, and NRK hopes to publish more programs via P2P if this is popular.

  • eirikso, on 01/30/2008, -0/+11It's no DRM, no commercials and no country limitations. Even if the show has enough beautiful scenery to be viewed by anyone, you'll get most of it if you speak Norwegain.

    Watch it, and think about the fact that it was filmed entirely by one person.

  • Pfkninenines, on 01/30/2008, -0/+5This is definitely a way of the future, or at least of a company that doesn't want to pay gargantuan hosting fees for HD Videos. Let the loyal viewers support their programs by seeding. It's a pretty good way to "pay" for something that's free.

  • hnilsen, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4Lars Monsen initially made a trip across Canada, it look him nearly three years. That journey was incredible, and it's truly amazing how someone can pull that off. It took him eight years to plan, and he recorded everything. You can contact him at lars@larsmonsen.no to see if he has this on DVD with english subs.
