- akpanga, on 11/14/2009, -5/+12Go Nokia, go Nokia, go Nokia
- themastersb, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4Dual core atom netbooks will be here on the 23rd. That's when the EeePC 1201 gets released with the Intel Atom N330 dual core. Also the ION graphics provides a nice touch to it.
- krisrm, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3Yeah, I remember Microsoft heavily endorsing the Tablet PC concept a long time ago. Guess what - I'm not drooling over one, and adding the ability to touch it with more than one finger isn't going to change that. Besides, half the point of a netbook is the price, and multitouch displays don't come cheap. As for all the companies you listed, good for them. They've all released out terribly over-hyped products that only fill niche markets, before; just because a huge corporation does something doesn't mean it's going to be "the next big thing"

- krisrm, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3Thanks for the heads up, I'll start telling everyone that their netbooks are "stop gaps". Or I could save myself the trouble, and not spout BS.
- dojocasino, on 11/15/2009, -0/+2"Nokia is one of the most unlikely companies to launch a netbook, given that cell phones are its claim to fame."
I don't know about that. They used to make (or at least, rebrand) televisions back in the 90s, among other things. - Elranzer, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3Nokia's Booklet 3G has a pretty design but beauty is only skin deep. The thing is still only packing an Atom Z processor (which is even slower than an Atom N processor), Intel GMA500 graphics (which is even slower than Intel GMA945 graphics and has no Linux driver support) and a 4200rpm hard drive. And course on top of all that, the only subsidized version is anchored to AT&T.
These low-end specs can be bested by any $300 netbook on the market (including Dell's Mini 9 which is still being sold today but is now branded the Vostro A90), yet Nokia's entry costs $600.
A polished turd is still a turd. - ohreilly, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3In Europe, WiMax is nowhere. UMTS is everywhere.
- WoollyMittens, on 11/15/2009, -1/+2Uhm... this is not actually the N70. It's the Booklet. You're likely reacting to another article?
- JQP123, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2"... just because a huge corporation does something doesn't mean it's going to be "the next big thing""
This is not *a* huge corporation doing something, this is a bunch of huge corporations --- lots of big names in the industry (Dell, HP, Acer, lenovo, Asus, nVidia, MS, Apple, Toshiba, Wacom) plus a bunch of smaller startups. Apple seems to be leading the way in terms of conceptual design with patent filings and proof of concept products like the iPhone.

- Carrie76, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2Alex had one on the last few Diggnation shoots. He seemed to like it. Keep in mind though they were a sponsor.(however, they are pretty good about giving honest reviews) I thought it may have potential except for the fact that its on At&t which means there will be fees out the ass. For all that trouble I can just hang with my iPhone. Has anyone seen any information anywhere about if just the data plan covers it? I was curious to know if it needed a minute plan or some such other At&t way to get more money thing.
- squareears, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1Article says it comes without subsidies, that's not true for UK consumers :D
- bjgodby090978, on 11/15/2009, -0/+0Will this come with snake, because that is the best cell phone game ever?
- vaderson, on 11/16/2009, -1/+0A few horror stories on here. Decent enough phones, but I'll stick with my Mac, thanks.
- JQP123, on 11/15/2009, -5/+4This is an over priced, uninspired, me too netbook.
Forget netbooks anyway. They're just an intermediate, stop gap product. The up and coming "must have" product will be a tablet with multi-touch user interface.
Tablets with multi-touch have the potential to replace most desktops and laptops over the next decade. MS, Apple and nVidia all know this ... and now, so do you. - JQP123, on 11/15/2009, -2/+1"Or I could save myself the trouble, and not spout BS."
LOL! Apple and MS have put their weight fully behind this "BS" and will introduce products within a few months. Here's a photo of the CEO of nVidia with some "BS" sitting in front of him.

I would like to ask a favor --- in a few months, when you find yourself drooling over one of these --- remember this post. - mashedup, on 11/16/2009, -2/+1No it's not the N70 but as the article says "Nokia is one of the most unlikely companies to launch a netbook, given that cell phones are its claim to fame."
And I'd say they have a lot of ground to make up after their last non phone device "the N70" which was woeful. But they won't be making it up with me after their terrible service and that poor device. - vaderson, on 11/16/2009, -1/+0A few horror stories on here. - JQP123, on 11/15/2009, -2/+1Here's some more "BS" for your reading enjoyment.
http://www.slashgear.com/tags/tablet/
Motorola is planning a line of "BS" products in different sizes (3.5", 5", 10") with built-in Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

- mashedup, on 11/15/2009, -4/+1Personal experience story. Feel free to digg me down based on fan bias if that makes you happy but I can only tell *my* experience.
I own a Nokia N70 Internet Tablet and it's a joke. Even before it stopped working. I had the infamous Nokia white screen within a week of owning it. Nokia refused to fix it for a month because here in the UK their support center didn't know what it is or how to support it. When they did finally fix it, it white screened four days later. It also has the worst screen LCD screen I have ever seen on a device, it is actually speckled with a grain. Now their phones may be better than the N70 Tablet but I will never buy a Nokia device again based on their terrible service and their N70 which should never have been released as a working consumer device. - N0DIGGITY, on 11/14/2009, -6/+2apple netbook?
- Ricochetbiscuit, on 11/13/2009, -6/+1needs a dual core Atom under the hood but it's still pretty tasty lookin
- depro9, on 11/14/2009, -6/+1Thanks but ill have to go with WiMax faster, better, stronger ect.
- Thorpe, on 11/14/2009, -12/+3Too bad Nokia is sucking more and more these days. If it wasn't for the iPhone, Nokia wouldn't even be bothering.
