- Fangsinmybeard, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1This story was not much help. User friendliness is going backwards for the mobile phone, where the PC was struggling to move forward.
- WiseWeasel, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Sure, they 'open [Symbian] up' only to close it back up again with DRM. The point here is that Nokia couldn't get the Linux Mobile folks to go along with their DRM plans, and so they're throwing in that towel and going their own route, so that they can have complete control over its development. This is a step backwards for Nokia's customers, as they won't have access to the powerful software and features of the Linux phones coming out in the near future.
- logic6, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1Symbian devices are the most open cellphones an the market (other than the handful of linux smart phones). I can't wait to see what the open source community can do with something like the E71.
But, they better hurry. Apple and Google are on the right track.
