    hehe.. that's me.

    I am asking for gift certs at CompUSA instead this year...to go towards accessories and stuff for the ibook for the wife and the mini for me I am going to buy in January, which will be my first 2 Apple systems ever purchased.

    As of now, I am planning on replacing all our systems in the family with Apples except for my one Linux server. I will probably get a 3rd system either in jan or soon after to replace my mothers HP windws PC too.

Even though they did go down, they are still higher, in California at least, than they were before summer. but there seems to be just enough laptops in the store round here to go around. I don;t see how a shortage will cause people to not be able to get one of the 'top sellers'

  • Technojunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think Intel is mostly just making excuses for AMD's growing market share. "Yeah, we would have sold more Pentium M chips but we ran short of chipsets. It has nothing to do with the CPUs being overpriced, 32-bit-only, and the chipset's integrated GPU being obsolete."

    Then again, they use the same fabs to build chipsets that they do to build NOR flash, and they signed a lot of cut-rate flash contracts in their effort to make AMD lose money.

    I'm looking forward to them too, but probably going to wait 1 or 2 iterations. But waiting will be hard...
  • thetron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0AMD is suffering a world wide shortage of 3000+, 3200+ and 3500+ CPU's. Including the low speed opterons which AMD is pushing

    I've been warned by a local online retailer in Australia. Where they've ordered 10 xyz processor unit of them from distributors or AMD, They'll fill 2 unit out of the ten ordered
  • inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmm, thats one way to try and spark more laptop sales, announce there is going to be a shortage, have to wait and see if its BS or not, and flanel sheets rock!!
    If I buy another laptop it will be for the kids to play around on, so it wont be much of one, definately not an over priced Apple. Dont get me wrong I am not saying Apple is bad, just over priced, they can get away with it, so more power to them. But I shall remain Apple-less till they bring the price down, if they ever do.
