- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -18/+402"Blue-ray was pretty much dead before and this will be the final blow."
Doesn't even sound like there'll be a first blow. - ScornForSega, on 10/12/2007, -5/+289History is truly repeating itself.
Back when VCRs had just hit the market, people could for the first time get porn at home. No more sleasy movie theatres. You could spank it in the comfort of your home. Then too there was a format war and the fact that you couldn't get porn on beta was a major factor in it's demise. - twitmer, on 10/12/2007, -19/+275I find movies with Sandra Bullock to be highly offensive... can they ban those too :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -58/+298not sure if i would want to watch porn in high def...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+241Nothin like a set of titties in 1080p
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -3/+175I built a HDCAM video editing computer for a company that produces softcore for HDNET. Trust me guys, you don't want to see porn in HD. It's like waking up the next morning next to a fat chick you ***** the night before everytime you turn it on. The cloud of 480i is protecting you from seeing the real "her"
Every video I worked on during their training demo, they constantly wanted to see how I could blur the image, soften things, hide this or that.
Nothing's less sexy than porn lighting highlighting surgery scars, stretch marks, razor burn on legs, mascara'd tattoos, or the nasty flap they got goin' downstairs. We get enough of that in reality. - Everglow, on 10/12/2007, -8/+173@yiyg
The porn industry has been one of the strongest pushers for new media for the last decade. If pr0n can't be put onto blu-ray and is forced to switch to HD-DVD, the sales of porn alone will likely push HD-DVD completely into mainstream. This was a crappy idea on Sony's part. - valugi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+98Probably Sony forgets that VHS format was popular because of its easy acceptance in porn industry.
- mrloco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+84Hehehe, he said load.
- mattcoady, on 10/12/2007, -4/+81"Porn may be more popular on the internet, but you can't watch HD porn online without an HD monitor. There are many ppl out there who have HD TVs but no HD monitor and they'll all buy porn on HD DVD."
Most every monitor has hd resolutions. The problems comes down to wheather or not you pc can handle the load. - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+77yeah, but only if you like ass zits. Sometimes less is more. You can understand why anal sex is a crime in Texas when you watch it in HD . . . it ALL looks like goatse.
Also, women in HD porn can't get away with shaving anymore . . . gotta be waxed. - halavais, on 10/12/2007, -1/+76@mattcody: "The problems comes down to wheather or not you pc can handle the load."
Ewww. - buckynekkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+70That's not acne.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+73Talking about self handicapping. This is a format death wish.
- jager719, on 10/12/2007, -2/+70very true. i had the unfortunate luck of catching a glimpse of porn on a 62" tv. something just wrong with the girls ***** being bigger than a dinner plate.
maybe not such a bad decision after all - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+67This isn't Six Degrees of Steve Jobs.

- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41Yes, yes it does.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42sayitloveit...
Come up here to Canada and ask Labatt. They make a drink called Labatt Blue (TM) ... you're old enough to drink beer aren't you? - tjasond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39"you get your chick a nice bottle of red wine and pop in a dvd"
Wait, I thought step one was to put a hole in a box. - standsolid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40and just like that, blu-ray is dead.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+37TO EVERYONE SAYING THAT THE PORN INDUSTRY IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE:
I thought that I'd make note that they're set to be a $13 billion industry this year -- that's almost double the video game industry:

You work for sony don't ya ;-) - rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29In the words of the great Dr. Cox:
"I am fairly sure that if they took porn off the internet, there would only be one website left and it would be called bring back the porn." - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Very true. History is repeating itself Sony..... Take heed!
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26The "industry" was also the first to move to DVDs.
- UberC, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33WTF does that headline mean? I'm baffled.
- s-m-a-c-k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28"Hell, video sales are not even the porn industry's #1 source of revenue anymore."
what is the porn industry's #1 source of revenue? - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Well....I guess we found out who won the format war early.
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26@earl507
Real life is only 480p. - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25It would force porn stars to be less...well....acned!
- Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24If you seriously can't get your girl turned on without porn, you've got issues.
- sonochamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22After this, VHS will be more popular than Blu-Ray
- TheUngod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22In the great words of Randall..."I think you can see her kidneys"
- ooter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Not allowing adult content on your particular medium is a surefire way to ensure its demise.
- theoallardyce, on 10/12/2007, -7/+27This got me thinking - exactly what format has Sony ever produced that's been a success?
- FuzzyCat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18
.... What's the point of high def porn, you'll all be blind soon anyhow.... - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Or its universal media disc. Sony hit a homerun with that one.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Inaccurate - Vivid is already supporting Blu-Ray.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Um. If I am going to drop 500+ bucks on a high def player, it damn well better play any type of content that I may want to see.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Rentals, deadmann. Rentals.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Today's episode of Sesame Street is brought to you by the letters T, M and I.
- pernicat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Don't forget about MiniDisc.
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16"Nothin like a set of titties in 1080p"
A set? Total Recall's coming out in HD? Awesome. - whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+15"But this is HDTV. It's got better resolution than the real world!"
- Wolfie351, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I guess no one is as smart as you, broomett. Perhaps we can equate it to Sony's pathetic memory stick instead?
- buckynekkid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15It means the long, drawn-out format war, that everyone was afraid of, will be over soon.
- technique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14So the PS3 is not just for games, but is to be the media center of your house -- unless Sony doesn't approve of whatever content you wish to watch in the privacy of your own house, then you have to have another device to play said content?
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue - michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18No porn? I am taking my PS3 back.
nevermind, who watches porn on DVD? its all over the internet for free. -
