- Obsession88, on 02/16/2008, -3/+78Who's Niveus? Never heard of them.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -2/+53WTF is Niveus?
- TMelcher, on 02/16/2008, -1/+46I honestly had not heard of this company until this news story, and I consider myself pretty well informed. I'm a PS3 owner and an owner of quite a few Blu-ray discs, but I honestly don't think that this would be on the front page if it weren't for all the other Blu-ray-related stories.
- wulfstein, on 02/16/2008, -1/+21Don't really care about Niveus. I think Netflix and all the big movie companies did most of the damage anyways.
- yivkX360, on 02/16/2008, -3/+19the real question is, who the hell is niveus.
- EmitStop, on 02/16/2008, -6/+20Another win for Blu-ray.
As if they didn't totally win already. - truspect0r, on 02/16/2008, -5/+19Last coffin nail right?
- Whackly, on 02/16/2008, -3/+16I think the last coffin nail was Netflix. Now we are just pissing on the grave. In fact, is "*Blank* Going Blue-ray!" even news at this point? I mean, it rates up there with "Teenagers think you are lame!" and "Electricity powers stuff!" in the list of obvious headlines.
- abhorsen, on 02/16/2008, -0/+10in other words nobody
- omercyme33, on 02/16/2008, -2/+11Surprise, surprise... I'm pretty sure HDDVD isn't even fighting anymore.
- verbose, on 02/16/2008, -1/+9You know it's over when even skin cream companies declare they're dropping your HD disc format.
- Zdax, on 02/16/2008, -3/+10Agreed, Blu-ray for the win.
- Blandyman, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3What's the with the puns? Is there someone behind you who laughs and says "POST IT, POST IT! ITS HILARIOUS!" ?
- Topher06, on 02/17/2008, -0/+3Um, I mean I know HD-DVD is dead, but Niveus dropping HD-DVD isn't exactly earth shattering news. I've never heard of them until today, and when seeing the prices of most of their stuff, they are like the Monster Cable of set-top boxes. I mean, honestly, $8500 to run Vista Media Center in the living room, I guess some people just love it up the *ss.

- CraigReed, on 02/16/2008, -2/+5No it's not the last nail by far, Nothing short of Toshiba discontinuing HD DVD players and announcing a Blu ray development strategy will be the final nail in the coffin.
- merdiesel, on 02/16/2008, -2/+5Why are people rooting on Blu-Ray as if they have a piece of the profits or something?.. I have a PS3 and a HD-DVD drive for me 360 (purely for Serenity and Batman Begins) and could really give a ***** less who wins. Just give me a HD pictures for about half of what your charging per movie and I'm happy.
- Frostman3D, on 02/16/2008, -2/+4Who the ***** is Niveus?
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2I think you would've done better with a /sarcasm tag in there.
- ergo98, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Could and Would afford one are very different concepts. Most Digg readers could toss together a media server superior to Niveus' for about a grand.
And their "high-end" server didn't even do both formats already? Not very high-end at all -- that's a $200 LG drive. - inactive, on 02/16/2008, -2/+4This is the nail in the coffin of HD-DVD!! Wait, what the hell is Niveus? I've never heard of it.
This isn't a nail in the coffin, this is the deodorant being sprayed to get the smell of the unburied rotting corpse out of the air. - goldpress, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2I'll agree with you on this one. Major studios leaving. Really bad. Netflix saying they won't carry you. Bad again. Wal-Mart saying it's not worth their time to carry you, goodbye. No movies to sell or rent, mixed with one of your biggest retailers leaving doesn't spell anything good for you. Niveus, while they have a player at the game, I'm not so sure it's more than a person sitting on the sidelines waiting for a bigger player to get injured. :)
- DaveBG, on 02/16/2008, -3/+4Hahah awesome. This week was devastating for hd dud.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1They're under contract if I remember correctly.
- annihilator675, on 02/16/2008, -3/+4Watch out for that rolling snowball!!!

- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1HD DVD is going to need some major miracle to come back in this fight. BRDA is pushing mass amounts of money into getting blu-ray as the top seller, which is something that toshiba alone cannot compete with.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1They already won. http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssConsumerGoodsAn ... That's from TODAY.
- cr3ative, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1You terrible person, I lol'd out a jaffa cake on to my monitor :(
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Was that instructions for your reply?
- TrevorBelmont, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1I don't understand why we still get these stories and why the titles still have exclamation points in them. It seems to me that a winner has been crowned.
- ThatsUnpossible, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Well, I can't afford a Lamborghini either, but at least I've heard of them.
- geeksquadof1, on 02/16/2008, -1/+2Niveus makes high-end media servers. Only sold through select dealers and custom home electronics installers. There is good reason why you've never heard of them. Doubt you could afford one.
- mRIpX, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1another endgadget blu-ray spa.. i mean article. With that said, it's over hd dvd vhs is back

- Blandyman, on 02/16/2008, -2/+2My girlfriend loves Paramore.
On topic, it's an algorithm based on the most active diggers digging it. If a lot of highly-active diggers digg the article, then it'll get frontpaged with 20 diggs.
I hate all you fags that ask about how it gets on the front page. Can't you just learn how digg works? - 1807, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1You know what I wan tto know? why havent I heard anything from Universal yet? Not even a "we;re thinking about swtching"
- clingingboy, on 02/16/2008, -0/+0???
- waydee, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1This is what I don't understand, do some people really have so little in their lives to treat a bloody disc format war as some sort of cause? Pretty sad.
- SA007, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1RIP HD Disks 2008
- clingingboy, on 02/16/2008, -3/+2honestly
- clingingboy, on 02/16/2008, -1/+0test
- computershack, on 02/16/2008, -4/+3Who the hell are Niveus? No doubt the SEC fanbois are going to be banging on about how great a win it is. Shame that I don't know anyone who has a clue who the hell this company is.
- sr1nath, on 02/16/2008, -1/+0oops! We are running out of the nails for the coffin.
