- jeedee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Very nice ... I don't understand why peoples need to talk ***** about DS ... the point of this story is about a DS price cut and not about which handheld system is the best
- SolidSamus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7wow, stop being fanboy's you douches. The PSP has a VERY NICE screen, but very little playability. why does it have little playability the lack of ORIGINAL (that's the key word) titles, with the exception of lumines (which is why I bought a PSP, not for movies or music (which my iPod and portable DVD player handle perfectly and dare I say, better)) Most of the games I have seen on PSP just tend to be PS2 ports and sports games. GTA: LCS is great but seriously I would rather play SA on the PS2 or XBOX. now if you're a sport only gamer, then yes you will like the PSP. But I find the DS great for original titles, and the newly implemented Online service makes it ALOT better, I have been playing Online MK: DS since tuesday, and I have yet to be uncomfortable on it. And 45% of the people who got MK: DS have been playing it online. seriously. Oh, and stop acting all "Nintendo is t3h kiddy!" guess what guys, if you would just open your eyes and play the DS you will find games that you enjoy and like as long as you don't have this biased ignorant view of "Nintendo is t3h kiddy!"
- stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow. The DS really is remarkable. I bought mine on day one for $150, but would gladly have paid $200 or more. It really is incredible.
For $99 it would be foolish not to get one. - TubaFrog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Those PSP owners sure are defensive.
How's that GameBoy emulator working for you guys? - serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is probably to sell off extra inventory before they release the newer, sleeker design of the DS in '06. I'm holding out for that one, but hoping it retains flashcart compatability.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've owned a DS since last Christmas and I still think it's awesome. The PSP is great for those who want a multimedia experience, but those who just want to play games the DS is the way to go. Plus it is less expensive and actually more portable than the PSP (though they are both huge).
- zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Dugg just to irritate the PSP fanboys.
- greg544, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://catalog.target.com/december/new_user_entry.aspx
- MadMan459, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$99 Pricing in Target catalog flier was a mistake. They will honor price if you have the catalog though.
Don't ask me how I know. - greg544, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where can I find one of those catalogues?
- Insimbi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I called my local Target and they said it's not $99.
- oneninjamonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1okay so i spent 150 for ds with nitendogs (ds has since become paperweight since nitendogs becomes very repetitive after the 2nd week) Now there selling for 100? i wanna shoot myself
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Excellent. I've been wanting one for the ability to play Mario Kart DS, and now it's at a good price point to get both!
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet, now I can pick up a second one so I can play Mario Kart battles against real people!
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hey hey hey, i dig this story but leave the PSP out of this, lol
- LynchMOB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just call my local Target and talked with the manager. She said this is the December catalog so these prices are not valid till December.
- hyphn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1groovy - my 4yr daughter loves her DS.... now i get get one myself & get in the practise so that I can beat her at those Mario64 sub-games..... >:-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the deal is for DECEMBER- you can print out the page and get it now (see the joystiq comments)
- cryptor6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice deal! The DS is an awesome piece of hardware with the best games this this season. I've been playing Mario Kart online all day, it works flawlessly. Luckily there's a hotspot too in the airport I have a 3 hour layover in during my holiday travel, so I'll be able to play online during that, sweet!
- merdeisel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hit it right on the head stealthboy.
one word. ELECTROPLANKTON. - c0dek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Don't be a loser and ask your mommy for a PSP this Christmas."
In the spirit of the mentality that wrote that line...
It's ok. I already asked your mom for one instead - with what she charges, I know she can afford it. - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0D'oh! This doesn't bode well for the one I'm selling on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8236445482 - xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have fun on my DS, more then my friend has watching movies.
- stealthyslyth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well as I already have a PSP (and love it) I may have to get a DS if it's going to be this cheap. At least now I can try out nintendogs and mario kart. Could probably play against my boss at work.
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woooooo nothing is better than mario kart especally online and all you psp fanboys agree nothing is more satisfying than blowing away some douchbag with a turtle shell
- stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Come on people, it's all about games!
Is the DS fun? Yes.
Is the PSP fun? Well, you can play movies! And you can hax0r it and stuff! And it's got a bigger screen! And it has all these accessories...
Don't you all see the obvious here? - Yelnats1971, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmmmm. I may have to get one now.
- aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"my 4yr daughter loves her DS.... now i get get one myself", and as we see here, so do adults.
- robotplague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Love my DS. Glad to see it's price drop for folks who don't have one yet. Slick. Dugg.
- jbarbee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It was a type-o. The price now shows $129.99 in their online catalog. The link Greg544 provided: http://catalog.target.com/december/new_user_entry.aspx
Move the slider at the top to show page 56. - atf487, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ds is sick. im getting the mario kart bundle for christ-mass.
- RedZeppelin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love my PSP and would never trade it for a DS, but at that price it's very tempting to add a DS to my collection.
- Madh2orat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Quickly do it, I just got mine and they are going to change it, it was a typo, it's supposed to be 129, not 99.
Quickly print a screenshot and the terms and conditions page, and take it in, they'll still honor the price. - Omicron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good article. no digg because of the last line =/ it's unfortunate that people do things like this to start flame wars. both are great systems.
- clumsyninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would have dugg if it was not for the trolling fanboy comment.
- smithco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just to throw a jab at the whining PSP fanboys, I submit this sentence from Penny Arcade (Oct 12) in regard to the DS,
"Now, I play it while sitting in the computer chair, while power saving measures slowly deactivate the entire machine." - sonytendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol u guys are all losers that does not (include the people who view things my way) i like both psp and ds but will be buying a ds because its less expensive than the psp and in my personal opinion i think the ds is a bit more fun than the psp BUT if i had the money i would buy both of them i am a lover not a hater MOST PEOPLE HATE SYSTEMS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE OR CAN'T GET..... STOP IT STFU AND WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS DAMMIT!!! lol ok thats all folks
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0better games.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good price. Shame on the negative PSP comment in the topic description though. Don't people know that only will attract the annoying fanboys? Keep things neutral and on topic and things will go smoother for your digg. Now I have to report this as spam cuz all the fanboy ***** you attracted.
- someguy123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I own a psp and yah theres homebrew stuff but the games are...well...ps2 ports(lumines does own tho)....so im getting a ds and selling my psp :P. Graphics dont make the game..
So if i print out that catalog page and bring it in to target they'll sell it to me for $99? - SubZ3r0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow I think kevin rose should make a flame war section for topics like this. Its not that people are fanboys or anything like that but they are entitled to there opinions so people are smarter then others and some people cant help bein retarded. what you gonna do its a lose lose situation. I dont leave my house so I have no use for handhelds so technicly im nutral I have respect for both game companies.
- Warpling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0WHY THE FUÇK WOULD I WANT A DS OVER A PSP, AND WHY OVER SAY A GB MICRO OR WHATEVER ITS CALLED?!!
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why can't you get both? There are way too many things PSP is capable of to not want one.
- dirtyword, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This article isnt about which system is better, and in fact, most of these handheld articles arent. But, for some reason, they always just devolve into a flame war. You guys need to get a life. (butthedsisdefinitelybettercuztheygotnintedogsandmariocartandthepspiswack)
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0PSP Kills DS. NO DIGG
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1^hahahaha
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the psp line was unnecessary. no digg
- mogrefy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Weak... no digg just because of that last line!
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1no digg. Useless fanboyism.
The DS has a lot of great potential but the design is in it's infancy... Not well implemented and bulky. We all know Nintendo will redesign it year after year, so hopefully it'll be tossed in a more sleep "grown up" package while retaining features.
One can only hope anyways. I'm not extremely happy with my PSP, but i'll still hold onto it until Nintendo gives us a better DS. - elev8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just cause you can't afford the PSP doesn't mean it sucks.
