- bobbychuck, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Hear Hear...Ning sells the network platform as 'your own'. Ning now reminds everybody that it is their sandbox. We were just playing in it.
- JTCrawford, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1This seems a bit heavy handed. Ning needs to restore WidgetLaboratory as fast as they can.
- Amaranta123, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1I just tried to buy ningsucks.com but someone already owns it ... shame....
- aleeka, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1ning made a fatal error..
- dancetubetv, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1the clock is ticking ning
- shawnocon, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1Yeah NING didnt give any warning to anyone knowing full well shutting down Widget Laboratory would affect literally 1,000's of their paid premium service users. This is the equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot! I would recommend to steer clear of a company that cares this little about those paying them money. In fact I WAS a premium service user until today. I have been with NING for almost a year and pay close to $50 a month for different premimium services.
Learn from my mistake and think twice before you give NING any of your money! - jrich7, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1I just lodged a formal complaint in the forum http://networkcreators.ning.com for we, too are victims of this outrageous behavior by NING.
A few minutes later I was banned! I used no curse words, profanity, slander, etc. I simply stated that their actions to remove WL overnight and without warning has affected many lives on our site. Others who have complained have been banned too, from what I have read and heard.
Their $$$lawyers$$$ probably told them to silence me. Are we in communist China?
Outraged at NING!! Fools in my opinion, who can not be trusted.
The end users and Network Creators are the ones who suffer the most. Fix this NING! Or you will lose us and hundreds of others. Damage is already done. At least do damage control! - jonschwark, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1Whats really messed up about this is that Ning did it without any recovery plan for thousands of their most advanced and sedicated users. Many of our sites are essentially crippled, without any obvious way to restore them, recover lost data, or even return to the default settings (especially in the case of Tab Manager). I'm not sure if it's true that Ning just pulled the plug on WL without notice, but Ning should have made any dispute with WL known to the community so we could have time to make a changeover. This would not have hurt Nings ability to force WL off the platform, ony delayed it till the users could prepare for a devastating change.
- Cornerstones, on 08/24/2008, -0/+0I think I'll pull my premium services.
- epochg, on 08/24/2008, -0/+0In an email from ning to Widget laboratories...
"our Terms of Service clearly state that “Ning has the right (at its sole discretion) to delete or deactivate your account, block your email or IP address, or otherwise terminate your access to or use of the Ning Platform or any Network, or remove and discard any Code or Content within any Network, without notice and for any reason”. "
Am I reading that right? they can delete anyone's account for any reason? Block email? WTF? Ning's TOS reads like the Chinese law codes... I can't wait for Widget laboratories migration tool... - epochg, on 08/23/2008, -0/+0I can't believe they shut down trikepilot.com (a ning site for pilots of ultralight aircraft) because the owners of widgetlaboratory.com were the admins for that site... If they can shut down anyones site for any reason, no ones content is safe. Time to look for another place to host. Ning.com is coming to an end.
- digiromp, on 08/22/2008, -0/+0This situation completely freaks me out.
