- weoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Didn't Sony make a camcorder a few years ago that was recalled because the night vision made the clothes invisible or something along those lines?
- cleaningbykilln, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12i think it would be pretty cool,Knowing that someone was getting paid to x-ray-o-mattic me to make sure that i'm not hidding a box cutter under my penis
- zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Wow people are nude under there clothing.
- packerbacker89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Perfect! You make the lead bras and panties, and then invest ALOT of money in companies working especially with breast and ovarian cancer.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Anyone ever see Airplane 2: The Sequel?
We were laughing at it then... who's laughing now? (I guess I sorta am..:P) - noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Dude you better pray you don't get saddled at an American Airport. Some ugly people around here.
- Travelsonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"I'm not a terrorist, so I have nothing to hide, and nothing to worry about..."
Your reasoning scares me:
1) You make the assumption that hiding something means you are a terrorist. No. There are things we want to keep private, EVERYbody does, and that is not a bad thing if the thing is not harmful, or wrong. This goes for everybody. Hiding something is not automatically an asumption of guilt, it is something everybody has the right to do, and has things that fall in to this area.. otherwise a "private life" wouldn't exist, now would it?
2) Police brutality, and people in power thinking we should have restricted free speech and rights to fight terrorism without expalining the benefits. 'nuff said. - Doriath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I was with you until
"I'm not a terrorist, so I have nothing to hide, and nothing to worry about." - kakwakas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9ALL night vision cameras can see through thin clothing.
- teamgwho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10giggity-giggity
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8with all these claims about the sony night shots, and these new cameras, i want to see some screens. they don't have to be of ***** or whatever. i just want to see some evidence of decent quality stuff. some claims said you can make out a persons face behind a face mask or helmet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In the original article, it talks about all this fancy equipment, with tiny receivers and stuff, but this does it through an lens. Doesn't make sense.
- mabhatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I didn't think Paris wore enough clothes to justify searching.... even if you DIDN'T want to look.
- Brahma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6noahhoward checked the mirror properly..
- L_Hospital, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8wow I read this comment wrong the first time around
- oskite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4At least there's no radiation involved. Then I could sue the government for giving me testicular cancer.
- ApeInago, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Its not about hiding you are a terrorist, its about corrupt people using said power to do evil things...
$1000 says you will find websites with some of these pics posted on them. - devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That just looks at the infrared spectrum. I'm pretty sure that only works on very thin cloth. This technology in the article uses a completely different wavelength, and thus will work differently.
That kaya thing has been around for a long time, there are even guides online how to hack a webcam to allow it to see in that spectrum. - wolfzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, this site is creepy as hell.
- mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the tool described in this article is not even close to the same as the kaya optics. infrared has been around forever.
- xslutx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No pictures of what the imaging looks like unfortunately, but i thought people might want to see what the machine actually looks like. calling it a "camera" is a bit misleading.
http://www.dsxray.com/products/mmwave2.htm - KJSatz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Don't go to airports?
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3u know those people who were complaining about wifi giving them headaches? i wonder what they'll claim this causes.
- moovitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3 Horray! That means in a few years, i can get the childhood cerial box toy i've always wanted!
- vguard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Perverts spying on you naked equals security? Followed up by "grope down", no doubt.
- gorilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They have been already been doing this for a year+ at Gatwick airport. If you are 'picked' out then you can have the choice to be searched or go for a body scan. Apparently it can only be done with your agreement though.
- wordfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dear Santa: I've been a very good boy all year.
- Negyxo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Has to do with being near/in the infrared portion of the EMS.
- teebird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What bothers me is that the only real result of all the aggressive pre-flight screening of our belongings and our persons is that the security problem has been pushed to a different location. The massive bottlenecks created at the baggage and passenger checkpoints are now a serious security risk in my opinion, as well as a major irritant to air travelers.
- aurifex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2George Orwell, you were ahead of your time.
- gordigor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude, seriously a little more warning next time!
- nbcivic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2might as well walk around naked i guess.
- KC0MLP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This was in Pop Sci about 6 months ago.
- terror96, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I don't know about all of you, but I find this disturbing that these products are manufactured and available to the general public. Look at this video that they have on their site. http://www.kaya-optics.com/images/kaya_massh_gss_01.mpeg It is clear that these lenses are manufactured mainly for pedophiles. There is something terribly wrong with this!
- mabhatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1network news ran stories about this months ago. It's a flat screen you walk in front of, and the person behind it watches. It's like a low level radar that acts like an ultrasound. It looks for the layers like ultrasound so you can "peel" them back to see thru. When the news ran the story they asked the public whether they'd rather be scanned by the "man behind the curtian" or physically frisked to search for weapons... almost everybody.. particularly the women choose the scan.
I wouldn't be worried about neferious use too much. While the pics are fairly detailed, you can get better porn for free... there's not the "exciting" factor to it anymore... thanks internet... as far as "privacy", there's safety in numbers. If there are so many people every day it will get to be monotonous pretty quick.. if you look at "nudes" on the internet you know there are more people that should NOT put their naked pics up than there are good to look at. After a while it would be painful to watch that screen all day. - pyrates, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wasn't this used in the movie eraser?
- cleaningbykilln, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if your going to scan me,go all the way and look Thur my skin too.Couldn't some terrorist just smuggle on one stick of TNT in his ass.
