- chimpchimp3, on 06/01/2009, -0/+135HDMI needs to calm the ***** down.
- nigelmansell, on 06/01/2009, -2/+127In other words HDMI Licensing group just gave the justifications for Monster Cables to make a $500 dollars 1.4 HDMI cable.
- kimballj, on 06/01/2009, -1/+72$500 only? How can it be on reduced clearance already?!
- mondoman89, on 06/01/2009, -1/+62Alright so what ever happened to only needing one cable? Now I have to chose from 5 different versions of hdmi! standard, high speed, standard ethernet, high speed ethernet, and auto? WTF!?. I guess monster needs to confuse people more in order to make more money.
- mark076h, on 06/01/2009, -5/+60Have you seen the picture Quality on those Monster cables compared to other HDMI cables? It's AMAZING!
- jewishmafio, on 06/01/2009, -4/+57Where have you been?!
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -5/+46I don't see why they keep coming up with all these fancy "adapters" when they could just use fiber for all of it.
- vulcanius, on 06/01/2009, -1/+41Money. Lots and lots of stupid people with lots and lots of money.
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+37Automotive HDMI Cable – allows the connection of external HDMI-enabled devices to an in-vehicle HDMI device. - SERIOUSLY? who the hell needs HD in their vehicle....PAY ATTENTION TO THE GOD DAMN ROAD, and no your piss pot little kid doesn't need to watch Spongebob in HD especially in the car
- Dougman82, on 06/01/2009, -1/+32Oughtn't it be called 2K?
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+28Dugg for oughtn't
- Authustian, on 06/01/2009, -0/+28Indeed. And can we get some sort of standard organization in our standards organizations?
- nigelmansell, on 06/01/2009, -0/+25yeah, if you buy the premium XT version, it will give you 10% improvement over your standard cat-6 FE cables
- Ruger11mcrdpi, on 06/01/2009, -1/+25So, yeah I'm going to need you to buy a new TV, it's only $3000. BUT you're going to need a new receiver for your surround sound system, since you run HDMI video through that. It's only $1700. These new cables are a mere $89 a piece. You'll just need three. BUT OMG IT MAKES ME XXXVIDEOS SO MUCH BETTER!
- Redge, on 06/01/2009, -0/+24Meh... I'm waiting for HDMI 2.0 wich is gonna be a wire you'll plug into your brain.
- Lucas123, on 05/31/2009, -7/+30The television becomes your computer display. So now it begins...
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -3/+24I'm guessing you clench your anus for lots of things.
- JayD16, on 06/01/2009, -1/+21You still need a standard...
- HyperJack, on 06/01/2009, -1/+20Faster than 3x10^8 m/s ?
Good one! - Jimbo51, on 06/01/2009, -0/+19Seriously, stop making my equipment obsolete.
- directedition, on 06/01/2009, -1/+19and it'll keep going
HDMI 1.5 will have a blender built-in and transmit love - MSP1, on 06/01/2009, -2/+19HDMI = HDCP = AACS = DRM (spit)
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -3/+19I'm clenching my anus for this.
- jewishmafio, on 06/01/2009, -0/+16Watch out you might be sued for using their name...
- BossKey, on 06/01/2009, -1/+17Yeah, TV as computer display is the next big thing.
http://img.zdnet.com/techDirectory/_APPLE2.GIF - KaiUno, on 06/01/2009, -0/+16It keeps me from soiling myself.
- zip000, on 06/01/2009, -0/+15Don't forget that they'll also let you send live animals through your computer!
- rectangle, on 06/01/2009, -0/+14"As we'll see, HDMI is a horrid format; it was badly thought out and badly designed, and the failures of its design are so apparent that they could have been addressed and resolved with very little fuss. Why they weren't, exactly, is really anyone's guess, but the key has to be that the standard was not intended to provide a benefit to the consumer, but to such content providers as movie studios and the like. It would have been in the consumer's best interests to develop a standard that was robust and reliable over distance, that could be switched, amplified, and distributed economically, and that connects securely to devices; but the consumer's interests were, sadly, not really a priority for the developers of the HDMI standard." http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/hdmi-cables ...
- Engival, on 06/01/2009, -0/+13Imagine watching standard def video on a 3 inch screen on the back of the seat. The horror! Thank you HDMI for solving this critical problem.
P.S. Thank you for all your content protection. I hate it when someone breaks into my apartment and starts stealing my content right out of the wire. - rocke86, on 06/01/2009, -0/+12"Consumers will have a choice of the following HDMI cables:
* Standard HDMI Cable – supports data rates up to 1080i/60;
* High Speed HDMI Cable – supports data rates beyond 1080p, including Deep Color and all 3D formats of the new 1.4 specification;
* Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet – includes Ethernet connectivity;
* High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet – includes Ethernet connectivity;
* Automotive HDMI Cable – allows the connection of external HDMI-enabled devices to an in-vehicle HDMI device. "
*Facepalm* aren't people confused enough? - kinerry, on 06/01/2009, -1/+12did you just say monster cables were quality hdmi cables?
wow, be prepared to be dugg down into oblivion (not the game, cuz that would be a good thing) - maz2331, on 06/01/2009, -3/+12When can we see HD porn in 3D?
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -1/+9too much DRM
- stoanhart, on 06/01/2009, -0/+8Wow, you are very wrong. HDMI = digital all-in-one cable. HDCP = DRM scheme that producers can optionally enable on their videos. While it is true that HDMI is needed to transmit a HDCP encrypted stream, it is not necessary for video to be encrypted to be sent over HDMI. Just because something can be used in an "evil" way doesn't make that thing itself evil.
- Rixta, on 06/01/2009, -0/+8One cable to rule them all.....
- MrTea, on 06/01/2009, -1/+8cause it's gangsta
- dakdak900, on 06/01/2009, -1/+8Agree with article and comments that its time for HDMI to settle on one super fast, super adaptable standard. I mean we're only on USB 2.0!!!
- Stoyanov, on 06/01/2009, -2/+92160p and 4K are both correct terms. 4096 horizontal, not vertical lines.
- lorddazzer, on 06/01/2009, -0/+7How about coaches and tour buses?
- Authustian, on 06/01/2009, -1/+7If I'm talking about the 'big video screen you watch tv on', I say 1080p. If I'm talking about the 'big video screen you watch porn on', I say 1920x1080. Note: no P on that one.
- directedition, on 06/01/2009, -2/+8Because home users are idiots who will snap their fiber optic cables and call their cable provider over and over each time.
- evilgourmet, on 06/01/2009, -0/+6"When can we see HD porn in 3D?"
...visit your local massage parlor...and there is tactile response as well! - RaulMuadDib, on 06/01/2009, -1/+7Was I not my best?
- Stoyanov, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5These are all great additions but I don't like the notion that every now and then all previous HDMI devices will be rendered obsolete. This is a TV or a Blu-ray player, for Christ's sake, get the specs out and let it be for half a century.
- KayakJim, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5Anybody that buys Monster Cables is ignorant of the widely available alternatives that cost much less (~$15) and perform the same if not better.
The old saying, "They have more money than common sense". - Chrysalii, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5...why am I getting my neighbors image mixed min with my TV?
- Jektal, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5My palette is 256 shades of pimp!
- Chrysalii, on 06/01/2009, -0/+5nobody doubts their quality, just their monster price (and that whole thing about comparing their hdmi cable to a composite cable).
- werkerholic, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4Next up, "Scratch 'n' Sniff TV"
- DaNuKaSAN, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4I'm rollin' with ma RGB...I'm an olskool rebel!
