- krschuerman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It'd be nice if you could import existing bookmarks.
- vekro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'll need some sort of import function before I switch.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If I could import my firefox bookmarks, I'd really be set.
- Killaken187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3cough, cough, cou..del.icio.us..gh
- Mcaruso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice. Though it's not of much use to me.
- MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not all that new. I've seen and used them since google.com/ig debuted.
- tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it's pathetic that Google uses the term 'labels'.
'Tags' is good because most sites use that term.
'Keywords' is good because its extremely intuitive.
'Labels' smacks of just choosing something different to appear innovative and unique without thinking about the users.
I know it's a small point but ignoring existing standards is another step on the path towards Microsoftishness. - MikhoohkiM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i pay for .mac i am ganna use it
- CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like the way it interfaces with the toolbar, will be nice when there's a Firefox version of it though.
- celeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2where's google effin calendar LOL
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There are tons of sites doing this allready no digg
- LordSnooze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took me a while to find it...
very limited ... Import/Export for Google Bookmarks...(Worked on Firefox for me)
http://digg.com/software/Import_to_Google_Bookmarks_(and_also_extract_from_Yahoo_My_Web) - ultralame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do people give a dman that Google is doing this? Yahoo! has had this for years. And I am sure other sites do the same thing. How long have I had the googlebar up? 18 months? Jesus. If the guys at google reinvented the pencil, without an eraser, millions of people would drop to their knees and give thanks.
- blijack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why the fsck don't they have an import function?!?
- spellcheckd, on 06/28/2009, -0/+1import feature required
- frank2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah they got to get the import feature going.
- CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would be nice to be able to import my links from del.icio.us also :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice. I was waiting for this exact thing from Google!
- Hyperion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even if this is old, I never heard about this till now or never used the personalized Google. I'll digg just because it integrates so easily with my Gmail account and I like it.
- jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I'll just keep using del.icio.us
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1del.icio.us lets you export to a bookmarks.html format, which Google will hopefully let you import.
- shodson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Needs a del.icio.us import tool
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://del.icio.us
^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^
Just use that .. duh? - besouza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...this has been out for a while now...
- CoreBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah it's not exactly "new", but there many people who don't know about it... although quite a few are learning of it because of the new toolbar beta.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, yahoo has had this for like 4 years... yawn.
- dignon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apple's had this for 2 years with .Mac
or use del.icio.us - kobie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1eish google bookmarks are lame... delicious + flock way ahead of this
- puzza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lame. del.icio.us.
- Iccanui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didnt know this was there. This is exactly what i have been wanting and i cant believe it been under my nose. All the others mentioned above are too intrusive to use or require a plug in or something. This is complete web based and forever backed it. I agree a import feature would be nice, but its nice to know from now on i can use this.
digg++ Just because its been there, doesnt mean we all knew about it. Seems quite evident we all didnt know about it from the replies. - Rounin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*Yawn* Whoppee doo dah.
- tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, and my apologies to del.icio.us. Seems it's not down - I was just accessing it as a bot. Doh!
- tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ghelton
I personally prefer 'keywords' but would still be happy with 'labels' if it was a general standard. What gets me frustrated is that a single company tries to introduce their own standard when one or more exists already. If users have become used to certain terms then Google should stick with those. They're not thinking of what's best for the consumer, just as Sony didn't when they introduced their proprietary Memory Stick. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using it for a few months, I don't care for the social aspect (or the clunkiness and terrible usability) of del.icio.us, this was a handy replacement for a few of my favorites
- JWood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just trying to compete with del.icio.us.
- phr0ze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Reported!. Old News.
- bipto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I swear to god, when I first saw this story I thought it said "New! Google Birthmarks". Now _that_ I woulda dugg!
- EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No import, no digg.
- shayne_sweeney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't seem all that useful, having to browse your search history to bookmark? Why not give the ability in the normal list of results? Make sense?
- h3adstr0ng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DAMN IT GOOGLE. when u hav no bookmarkts, the page looks soooooooo bland and boring cept for the colorful google letters which piss me off too. poor google, couldnt get del.icio.us before yahoo so they have to settle for the crap they made.
- GuineaPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As a homeless drunk, I assure you that celeb doesn't speak on my behalf.
- omniatlas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uh i think del.ici.ous does a better job. you can add it to your personalize home page, and get the toolbar for quick tag and access AND theres an RSS feed for live bookmarking in firefox.
- nickinstl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All of these services have a long way to go before they replace my Firefox or IE bookmarks. They need to improve their one click add functionality.
- MyrddinEmrys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nothing new, del.ici.ous, in the white bread world.
- nacho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That makes me nervous. Seems like it should be an opt-in sort of data collection service.
- justinvt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hey apache2, go suck a *****" - HAHAHA hilarious
"For those of you saying it is the same a del.icio.us , does del.icio.us index the pages you bookmark? I love furl.net for this very reason. I may not remember the url when I am searching but I will probably remember something about the content."
That's why delicious lets you enter a description about the URL, comments, and as many tags as you want. Then other apps/sites like grou.ps can worry about keeping them organized. - babelfishi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old!!!
www.google.com/ig
You should google "Gooel Bookmarks" first before submitting... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0another revolutionary feature from google. i like this trend. everything they've done since search (in 1996) has sucked.
- dmilner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I apologize for this being "old news". I didn't know about it until today, and judging by the number of diggs, neither did a lot of people.
- vampiro7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those of you saying it is the same a del.icio.us , does del.icio.us index the pages you bookmark? I love furl.net for this very reason. I may not remember the url when I am searching but I will probably remember something about the content.
