- acraft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 sproutworks . . . I've got a Measure Map account and think it's a pretty sweet service. Measure Map more like a dashboard for stats. Big picture. Many people will still want to crunch their stats . . . but for bloggers who just want to know how many people are reading their blogs, how many people are linking to it and what those inbound links are . . . it's pure perfection. A simple tool that does it's job extremely well. No bloat. Just what's advertised.
- sproutworks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone here use Measure Map? There aren't many details on their site for non members. Can you use this with any blog service, or web site with a blog? It seems pretty cool, but if they are going to add something to Google Analytics, I'd like to see Adsense clicks as an option in the conversion goals.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1don't all of you cry and scream when microsoft buys a company for it's tech ? why aren't you doing it now for google ?
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think you've got it a little backwards...I don't think Measure Map, which was still in alpha release, will be a "big step" for Google Analytics, which is essentially Urchin, and has been around for years. If anything, it's the other way around.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't see why I'd want "google analytics" when I could just install a stats program on my server and have full control over it without the delay of connecting to a third-party site every time a page loads.

Nothing wrong(tm) with it but im sick of it. IE: they hold a ton of information about everyone now... and now im thinking twice before signing up for every new Google Beta that pops up.
google search
google analytics
google adsense
google earth
google mail (gmail)
blogger
google talk
google pack
google toolbar
"google" picassa
and thats off the top of my head...hmm. - Evroccck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.marketingshift.com/2006/02/google-targets-bloggers-buys.cfm
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope I get an invite now. I have been waiting for months!
- jacqueschirac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good move
people expect them to do sth miraculous with all this money they invested - thebassman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool! Way yo go Google! :)
- mansour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>> at least made the betas BETTER
--------
Betas are called so because they already are BETA than nothing. - twaits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Huh... I thought measuremap and google analytics were pretty much the same....
- kherrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@nitinshantharam - agreed
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Google recently bought out my Java "Hello World" program. I was planning on adding Swing integration, but they snapped it up with just a console output (the "beta" version). They also made an offer on a friend's QBASIC version of Eliza. Soon Google may be asking you things like "How does * make you feel?" or "I don't know; what you you think?"
- Percept, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Let's hope we can finally use the damn thing soon. Been waiting for an update for months ...
- asdren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty cool to be bought out without even having officialy launched.
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2jeez dono169 - I checked scanman's link and it was a different link; but it's to the measuremap site; talks about the acquisition and has a link to the same google blog story. Anyway, It's bad form to call someone a "stupid douchebag" for posting a link to the first poster.. you got your homepage.. just relax and chill dood.
- munboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Shame I set up Adblock to block google analytics, and all of those other stat programs... :D
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woohoo!!
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"seems google has found a similar motto which is "what are we going to buy today?" irony?"
Microsoft's been doing that quite a while.
Remember GIANT AntiSpyware, now better known as Windows Defender? That's just one example.
Google it. Or MSN it if that's your thing. - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Google is no longer the great company it once was.

Ubuntu takes offense to your misspelling of whore! ;)

Google has been getting a tad hungry these days though. - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Huh... I thought measuremap and google analytics were pretty much the same...."
Welcome to the Wacky World of Corporate Threat Mitigation, where competitors of Microsoft, Google and other businesses are embraced, extended, and... - TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"""Might be cool but i am starting to feel tired of google buying everything. Hmm. The google(good?)-ness is running out..."""""
Why is it wrong for Google to buy a whole bunch of stuff.
Eric Wilson - vanderwijk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Measure Map is awesome, I really love their interface, it is the best stats service for weblogs. I hope the acquisition by Google speeds up the development process a bit.
I have been checking my stats at alpha.measuremap.com for months now without seeing any drastic changes. Yes, that is ALPHA, not even BETA yet :) - binaryHalf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0remember the old microsoft ad which said "where do you wnat to go today?". seems google has found a similar motto which is "what are we going to buy today?" irony?
- masskurec, on 03/04/2009, -0/+0google is buying out all competition
http://xptweak.net - haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Saw that yesterday...kinda cool.
- radioraheem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I run Google Analytics and for a short time ran Measure Map as a part of their beta invitation.
Apart from a couple minor details there really didn't seem to be a big difference to me... kinda confused as to why they'd buy them, other than the fact that this is pocket change for Google. - CrumbleBeeHaHa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool! More Google software I don't need!
Seriously though, I understand how some people might care about this (real bloggers) but I'm betting the reason this is front page is because it has "Google" in the title. - crossers, on 07/15/2008, -0/+0they hold a ton of information about everyone ...

- those (like me) who are members are limited to 5 sites
- people (like me) who deleted their sites to add different ones can't
I couldn't give a rats arse that Google is going to make it "better". They could not have screwed up the first MONTHS of it better, and any band-aid addition they make isn't going to compensate for not being able to register, or use the service. - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where is my Google Pizza?
Google does nothing with most of this software. Why are they wasting their money? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0urusai. dude, I LOVED Eliza when I was younger. I talked to her for hours.

Hahahaha! - GreenSlabOfClay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Google, Google, Google...
oh and did I mention Google.
I'm sick of Google this and Google that.
On their terms and conditions for Google logo use, they recognize the importance of controlling trademark saturation.
Too bad they can't apply that within their own company.
Let's just predict that Google will continue to buy into every aspect of my daily living and release a continuous stream of yet more useless software products.
Google is no longer the great company it once was.
Now it's just a greedy hoar. - suprfli, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0i wish that i could get in ont he google analytics and check it out.

- sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I don't see why they bought this company other than to kill a possible future comp editor. They had already bought Urchin a few months ago which was one of the best services available. I wonder if they will integrate the features from Google Analytics, which is pretty much Urchin stuff, with stuff from Measure Map.
