- jdawg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13no need to worry about Netscape... our community is growing and the product is developing. there is plenty of room in the social news space for everyone.
- mozzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I've said this before, Netscape is kicking our tail in the "social" part of social networking.
I'm hardly a netscape fan, but this feature is brilliant. It also shows how slow Digg is moving on implementing _social networking_ features. - jdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm sure digg will add it at some point.... it's an obvious feature. And when they do, we will not acuse them of stealing it from us. :-)
- DarknessGP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2umm, I wonder if this is what Microsoft said when they stole from Apple... or when Apple stole from Xerox.
- schumi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the idea and have really been wanting for Digg to add this. Right now there is really no way for people on digg to communicate outside of comments on stories which really makes it difficult to actually network and build strong relationships. Obviously this wouldn't be for everyone so an opt-out option would be really nice to avoid unwanted messages.
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's something that sounds cool but is really not that useful... I mean seriously how often are you going to be sending messages to other people on a news site? That's right, never. :P
- jdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The system also pings you on the top level when you have a message... i just blogged about it: http://www.calacanis.com/2006/08/31/netscape-site-mail-really-taking-off/
- razei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A PM System? No thanks. I'd rather not have that. If anything, a 'suggest story to friend' button would probably be useful [similair to del.icio.us], but no messages.
- slashdotislame, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Man I haven't seen messaging on a website before... Oh wait, every forum in the world has this already. Remember webICQ, like 5+ years ago?. Um, wtf.
- stage3, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3FU Calacanis
- Alkal1ne, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0Oops, now it looks like if Digg does add this Netscape won't have a niche over Digg. Poor poor Netscape. Oh well my half a second of sympathy for Netscape is over.

What is Digg?
