- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -16/+256i guess I'll just have to illegally download all my movies now -thanks for turning me into a criminal Netflix! I hope you send me Shawshank Redemption when I'm in prison!!
- buba69, on 08/15/2008, -8/+155too busy watching olympics.....my netflix dvds are sitting on the coffee table....
- DangerCollie, on 08/15/2008, -4/+149Give them a break. They'll get it fixed and they'll make it right with their customers.
I lost two movies when the maid shuffled them into a pile of papers. Reported them missing and they never made an issue out of it. We found them when we moved, eight months later. Another time I put on a jacket after a long, hot summer and found another movie I had reported missing that spring in the pocket.
Maybe just chill out and give them a chance. No one is more concerned about getting back online than they are. - iamthearm, on 08/15/2008, -3/+146They are such a great company. It doesn't matter to me.
- fyrewal, on 08/14/2008, -41/+173I'm sorry, I was busy downloading all my movies from bittorrent, what's a netflix?
- ErrorLoading, on 08/15/2008, -1/+75I love how the olympics promotes people sitting and watching tv.
- BobMysterioso, on 08/15/2008, -0/+64realizing Samuel L Jackson wasn't in Shawshank Redemption.
more priceless? - thegools, on 08/15/2008, -0/+63I live in the hood and every time I put a dvd in the mailbox for return it gets stolen. Despite this occurring like 3 times now, Netflix has never charged me a dime or asked any questions so I can forgive them for a few days of downtime.
And I'm quite amused to think about some crack-ho or gangbanger that gets home with that red envelope and tears it open to find Ken Burns Civil War Disc 2 or some obscure Indie flick. - Testiculese, on 08/15/2008, -1/+58Try dropping them in the blue mail pickup bin instead.
- EricAnderton, on 08/15/2008, -3/+60I wondered what would happen if I didn't return my discs right away - they've sat on my coffee table for four weeks now.
My bad. - prleet, on 08/15/2008, -1/+58some kinda internet, where things cost money...
- tim507, on 08/15/2008, -6/+54gotta give them props for still being awesome. I can wait for my movies, im not under to much of an inconvenience at this point.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -3/+41***** it. We'll watch it online!
- saikyan, on 08/15/2008, -0/+38Netflix rocks. They've already issued apologies and offered compensation. What more can you ask? Mistakes happen, and they've handled it with the utmost professionalism.
- hollismb, on 08/15/2008, -0/+34Oh, chill out. He was obviously just being silly.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -1/+32They all look alike to you don't they?
- Balanced, on 08/15/2008, -0/+30Dude, it's been a day or two. And they've been very forward about the problem and offering refunds.
- ThaDRD, on 08/15/2008, -0/+26This is what you get when you login to your account:
IMPORTANT: Your DVD Shipments Have Likely Been Delayed
We’re sorry to report that since Tuesday we’ve been experiencing issues with our shipping system, so many of you have not received DVDs in a timely manner and many of you have not received emails letting you know we got a DVD back from you.
We pride ourselves in delighting you, and we’ve let you down. We apologize and are working around the clock to restore normal operations. To all of you whose shipments have been delayed, we’ll be automatically applying a credit to your next billing statement. Or, if you are new to Netflix and your first shipments have been delayed, we recognize that this is not a good way to begin your Netflix membership and we’ll automatically extend your free trial.
Our goal is to ship DVDs as soon as possible and to keep you updated. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience we’ve caused you and thank you for your patience.
The Netflix Team - LethalGeek, on 08/15/2008, -0/+25360 something odd days a year they do fine, I'm not going to go up in arms cause of 1 failure for the first time in....well I think this is the first time I've noticed any problems.
- faceless323, on 08/15/2008, -1/+26@mindtrigger
You mean go outside and actually interact with people.
DO NOT WANT - TeamJesus, on 08/15/2008, -0/+24How could someone be so addicted to television that they get worked up about this?
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -0/+22I have that same bad habit. We've got to be their favorite type of customers, paying months at a time essentially for nothing. T_T
- diggdat, on 08/15/2008, -0/+21Yeah,
I would give up HBO etc before I would ever give up Netflix. Their service to me over the years has been frankly excellent (No I do not work for them).
The movie downloads btw is not effected.

The Netflix Team - keegster, on 08/15/2008, -4/+25i actually got my movies on time this week...guess it's only affecting some people.
- StormTroopr, on 08/15/2008, -0/+19Morgan Freeman?
- Caukin, on 08/15/2008, -0/+19When a company like Comcast messes up I get incredibly annoyed. This is because companies like Comcast mess up often and don't care about their customers or how it affects them. Generally they will send out a "We are taking this matter seriously" When Netflix messes up, I'm okay. Maybe a little upset but I know that Netflix is REALLY working on it and cares about its customers. I know that they will fix the problem as fast as they can, and make it up to the customers. I consider Netflix one of the top companies.
- gbarger, on 08/15/2008, -0/+18I've been a netflix member for years, and they have always been fantastic. Due to money situation (paying for my fiancee's ridiculous tuition), I'm down to the 1 at a time plan. I was frustrated when I mailed the movie out on Monday morning, they didn't get it until Wed (usually they get it next day and I have the new movie Wed). I was a little upset, but now that I know they're having tech issues, it really doesn't bother me. I've never had a major issue since I started in 2000. They treat their customers well, and I don't plan on leaving. I hope this doesn't give many new customers a bad taste for the company.
- Protoss, on 08/15/2008, -0/+18Wow, extending free trials, crediting accounts for just a few days of missed shipments? That's pretty awesome.
- Aerandir, on 08/15/2008, -0/+18Well, I received an email from Netflix explaining the situation (described as "serious" technical difficulties) and they offer apologies and refunds. So it's ok as long as instant View still works.
- ckup619, on 08/15/2008, -0/+18at least we can still watch movies instantly off the website
- roomforpanic, on 08/15/2008, -0/+17Or someone who was actually in Shawshank Redemption. That might be priceless too.
- Testiculese, on 08/15/2008, -0/+16I lost 3 dvd's two months prior. I figured I sent them, and USPS lost it, so I reported it as such. Netflix didn't care, and sent me my next stack. I finally found the 3 dvd's already sealed in the envelope ready to go back under some paperwork that I never got around to...
- lancert, on 08/15/2008, -0/+14Really? Their service to this point has been impeccable. Being a web host provider I understand the joys/frustrations of putting your faith in machines/techonolgy that is destined to break down occasionally.
My car has had more problems than Netflix yet I keep putting $50 worth of gas a week into it and driving around in it... - nofx1510, on 08/15/2008, -3/+17I really dont think that many netflix members probably care that its going to take two extra days to get their dvd's which their going to rip into their computer using handbrake anyways and watch at a later time...
- getrealnow, on 08/15/2008, -0/+11Ive been a happy customer with Netflix, and this hassle is nothing like what I had to deal with other movie rental places ..This doesn't bother me at all, and if it does to any of you, yall need to calm the ***** down.
- Miamisun, on 08/15/2008, -2/+13It happens...lets not overreact
- sexybobo, on 08/15/2008, -1/+1112000 watch it know titles
100000 dvd titles.
little over 10% of their video stock - m4xn00b, on 08/15/2008, -0/+10you have a maid?!?!
- AngryAngryBrian, on 08/15/2008, -1/+11So basically your a douche? ***** does happen you know.
- cawpin, on 08/15/2008, -1/+11"The company said it shipped no DVDs on Tuesday, some on Wednesday and none on Thursday."
If they shipped nothing on Tuesday and Thursday, it pretty much affects everybody that is a subscriber. - RobotBuddha, on 08/15/2008, -0/+10That's the main reason I didn't even notice it. I've been watching so much of netflix's streams that I haven't bothered with the dvds in a while. It's 99% crap on the stream, but sometimes it's 'quality' crap. I never would have seen 'die zombie scum' if I'd had to waste a dvd slot on it.
- bbjohnnyt, on 08/15/2008, -0/+10Same here. I like getting something nice in the mail instead of bills. Every time I see that red mailer in my mailbox, it's like Christmas.
- cadmiumpaint, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9well at least it happened during the Olympics when a huge portion of its customers are not watching movies anyways....minimal fallout is good. hope they get it fixed soon.
- sodade, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9Netflix rocks (If they had porn and games, I'd really gush) and you're a dumbass for canceling over this. It is a temporary snail-mail issue that doesn't reflect on their service at all.
- holzp, on 08/16/2008, -0/+9I still have it. Sorry.
- springboks, on 08/15/2008, -2/+11OMG Sound the alarm, my weekend is ruined. Here I was planning to sit infront of my TV, eat chips and drink beer and watch my 8 Netflix movies back to back. Now I'll just eat more chips and drink more beer!
- itsradBrad, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9You're a jerk. ***** happens, quit your bitchin.
- zhenate, on 08/15/2008, -0/+8This is funny, Bardamu. Go ahead and cancel. I really think you should. That's a great idea.
- tim507, on 08/15/2008, -0/+8@Protoss,
Yeah it is awesome, its not the first time they have compensated for an inconvenience either. Every company should take a hard look at Netflix and their PR/Customer Service. Maybe they would learn something valuable and realize that ignoring customers and denying issues is no way to successfully run a company.
Again, thank you Netflix. - roomforpanic, on 08/15/2008, -0/+8You're also something else that rhymes with cool.
