In other news, Napster's marketshare increases to 0.0000002%. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -26/+59
- allancorbett, on 10/12/2007, -8/+29Who uses Napster or AOL? People who don't know what else is going on in the tech world. This doesn't affect anyone on Digg....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+227.5mil / head? Not too shabby!
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I'm sure even the AOL guys were giddy with excitement, I can just imagine them trying to keep a straight face as they entertained this offer.
"Oh, I don't know... we've got a lot of interest, let me check my notes..."
*Cut to AOL exec playing Solitaire for a few moments while he puts Napster guy on hold*
"15 million? Well, we've got an offer here for 1 billion... but since we like you guys so much, sure." - robz0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Napster will hopefully buy AOL next and the entire thing will tank...
- rarkai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12"Aol is changing for the better."
This will only be true when they go bankrupt. - turbodigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@ stanleyfeinbaum
Just in case you haven't noticed.. no one else here uses "sigs". At digg it is considered spam, and you are considered a spammer. My guess is that you are new here and didn't know that putting a link to your blog on every comment you post is extremely annoying. So yeah, if you don't want everyone to block and digg you down, then it would probably be smart to take the link off your comments. - TheBarge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Who uses Napster? How about people who decided to buy a product other than an iPod for music? I own a Creative Zen and it rocks (and I got it for a good deal on woot!), but I can't use it with the iTunes store, so I'm left with Napster.
- Dempf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@James Wilson:
That meme was originally "im in ur base killing ur d00dz" and reportedly originated in a game of Starcraft.
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/I_am_in_your_base_killing_your_d00ds
(Although all of this has nothing to do with Napster buying AOL music.)
P.S. People are burying you because the secret of why a blank entry will get dugg up MUST FOREVER REMAIN A SECRET! - samuelcotterall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"Is this more of that much-talked-about digg anti-semitism?"
You *****.
Your initial comment was stupid, pointless and pretty much off topic (it isn't 1999 any more), and we don't do signatures on Digg (if we're going to click any link it's going to be the topic).
Don't put it down to antisemitism. - tailboom22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I'm a Jew and I digg you down. Quit the blogspam.
- thebankshow, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Actually, according to Verizon it's 0.000000002%
- samuelcotterall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7In 2007 people have have operating systems, browsers and a "Check Spelling" button so we can actually write the word "signature" without having to abbreviate it.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10dont spam us with your ***** blog.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You take a hammer and hit your computer screen. Try it, it works!
- Septimus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not digging you down for being Jewish, that would be retarded.
Instead blocking you as you seem to be a dick. - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Thanks dempf.
- dokbeast7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Thats because everyone on digg likes "services" like the piratebay, lol
- Artemis11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@nitr021
Actually, the new bittorrent is pretty sweet too. I get all the music that I want for ***** FREE on my mp3 player. You guys should really try it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5the question is... who the hell buys music?
- TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I am as pro-Israel and pro-Jewish as they come, you do not put unrelated links on the site. I just sign my name at the end of the post and that annoys people to digg me down sometimes. It is wrong that you do somethings that, if any other person did, they would be dugg down too, and you pull the race card. That is wrong and it is a disservice to Jews when you do it.
Eric Wilson - RafiParrr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is AOL Radio included in AOL Music? Because I'm wondering if Napster's gonna want to host TWiT for free, like AOL's been doing.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, AOL Music has some nice things such as AOL sessions
http://music.aol.com/videos/sessions/sessions_flash - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3
- turbodigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well i tried to help you, acting like this will not gain you acceptance in the digg community. Its not the antisemitism, its your blog spam.
I'm sick of people like you ruining digg. Thats why I'm blocking you. - kalidav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3How do we report people for spam?
- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh man, talk about feeding the troll.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I had no idea napster was still going.
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Chandler Kent affair!
- TurboTex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not only is stanley a douche with his 'sig' but seriously..read a story or two on his blog.
"It's always the same story: Troubled youth plays doom or quake, he arms himself to the teeth, he kills his classmates."
..Digg is not your home. - wranlon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Web 2.0 companies - YouTube, FaceBook, et al - are built on communities and userbases in the millions. Principle revenue comes from advertisements. In that respect, 15 million dollars for a 350K strong customer list seems like a cheap buy.
- TheBarge, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Or someone who bought something other than an iPod.
- omaryak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm speechless.
- JoWiGo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed.
- roxics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow I had no idea Napster was even profitable. I thought they were still in the red with all their legal battles.
Interesting to find out. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since AOL owns musicnow that means that Rhapsody is the only major contender.
- element[0], on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@stanleyfeinbaum
stanley you are such a dick head
"If we all speak our minds and post our blogs we can bring CHANGE to this site."
we are speaking our minds and we're telling you to stop the blog spam
"I am inspired by Rosa Parks, who refused to sit in the back of the bus. I refuse to censor away my sig."
again you are a dick head i can't even begin to tell you what is wrong with that statement - rebotfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Who uses Napster or AOL? People who don't know what else is going on in the tech world. This doesn't affect anyone on Digg...."
I dont see whats so bad about Napster, its easier to find what you want than usenet or bittorrent, cheaper than allofmp3 or itunes, its only real disadvantage is 128 kbps. - higherness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure it was 15 million "in cash"
- noahs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good god you are the most annoying person i have had the displeasure to listen to
digg comment != forum
therefore no sigs. - jacknorthstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think so. "Seppuku" is honorable.
- aserer511, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so much for the haier/aol partnership
- BarbadoSlim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ah, these guys are brilliant, this is, the waste money to MAYBE make some money strategy, these guys are fantastic.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1video.aol.com very solid.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wouldn't it just have been cheaper to buy all of AOL? It might cost a couple of dollars more but you get the full failing package. :P
- boblazaar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@TKDWILSON
Judaism is a race now? Did I miss a memo? - colouredlights, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Web 2.0 communities, however, are based on quality service. They grew through passionate word-of-mouth and immediate appeal. 15 million dollars / 350,000 users = $50 per user. If Napster doesn't immediately follow this move with an unveiling of some brand new service, it's a terrible move.
- nitr021, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8Actually the new napster is quite alright, i get all my music that I want for £15 a month on my mp3 player.
- flimbabulous, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Anybody use ShoutCast.com? It's powered by AOL Music in case you didn't know.
