- derrickgossman, on 10/19/2007, -13/+58anyone still using myspace should be sterilized.
- jasonnazar, on 10/19/2007, -2/+43Before myspace "opens up".. perhaps they should make it so you don't get 10 spam profile requests every time you sign on, that would be a nice first start
- vclortho, on 10/19/2007, -1/+24So you can have "error fowarded to the technical group" messages on your own website?!
- treelovinhippie, on 10/19/2007, -0/+21OK, MySpace better have some bloody good web2.0 experts employed... because I can see this move absolutely destroying the site.
SPAM site + open-app platform = even more SPAM = loss of users - quomen, on 10/19/2007, -1/+19Yeah myspace is bloated as it is, Myspace apps? Oh god who the ***** needs a "pet" on their page. Jigga PLZ
- Leo21k, on 10/19/2007, -1/+14But thats all I ever get :( dont take that away from me.
- metapop, on 10/19/2007, -3/+14awesome... i always wanted to slap the sumo's belly or see who graduated in my class in 2.0.
honestly though, i would really love to be able to click on someone's profile and see how many degrees they are away from me, and how to get there- kinda like the 7 degrees of kevin bacon game- it would be a great way to find people you know offline. (did i just call the real world "offline") - lordtyros, on 10/19/2007, -2/+12They're in your extended network
- uberamd, on 10/19/2007, -1/+11Facebook > MySpace
myspace is a programming disaster. - klinsek, on 10/19/2007, -2/+11My Space is terrible, who cares? Why is this on the front page?
- HerrEisenheim, on 10/19/2007, -2/+11Who still uses the internet anyway?
- uberamd, on 10/19/2007, -3/+12I love social networking, I hate myspace. Recently I deleted my MySpace profile and feel liberated. Myspace is a poorly coded sad excuse for a social networking site. Come on, what site requires you to add CSS to an 'about me' field to customize your profile? That is a awful way to handle a website. Facebook has the right idea, but with an open platform we will have increased junk on peoples pages, more music, more movies, and more trash that nobody cares to look at.
See my example of your typical myspace page at http://steve.blogme.us/myspace/ - DirtySnachez, on 10/19/2007, -0/+8yer, then Facebook copied and made something better. Instead of MySpace dying gracefully, its trying to pour money on itself to stay afloat.
Thats not really anything new for Murdoch though. zing. - Vschiffy, on 10/19/2007, -4/+11Having used Myspace for the past 3 years it bothers me when people bash it.
The truth is Myspace is the largest social networking site out there, it dwarfs facebook (100 million users to 20 million users). Myspace is a social tool, and when it comes to social networking, I simply prefer the tool with the most users in the network.
I'm glad, and look forward to the inclusion of an open-app platform. - uberamd, on 10/20/2007, -0/+6No, it will be done myspace style.
1) It will be coded in Q-BASIC
2) It will give you "Sorry for the inconvenience an error has occurred" messages every 2 minutes
3) it will simply act as a wizard for adding more youtube videos
4) It will automatically set youtube videos to play at the same time, causing indecipherable noises
5) It will attract more tools and cause even more stupid emo profiles - derekivey, on 10/19/2007, -5/+11Why can't they just let MySpace die. :(
- sherwinn, on 10/19/2007, -7/+12Who still uses MySpace? And who has the patience to deal with their atrocious load times and memory hogging pages in order to use applications? I'm not sure the trailer trash that remains on myspace is concerned with apps anyways.
- andrewcsayer, on 10/19/2007, -1/+6I reckon Murdoch is a Sith Lord
http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/2007/10/18/murdo ... - MeltingIce, on 10/20/2007, -2/+7Too bad no one likes MySpace anymore
- kodek, on 10/19/2007, -0/+5If this is true, then anyone could build a native desktop app and not have to go through the site at all. It'd be like using Trillian to talk to people on AIM.
- MillionsLivio, on 10/19/2007, -0/+5I make one typo and a person that cannot even capitalize their sentences is telling me to go back to English class? As for the Zune, I gave my explanation on the similarity in my other post.
- Leo21k, on 10/19/2007, -1/+5I wish I had a female stalker, seriously. I mean as long as she was attractive that is.
- esotericguy, on 10/19/2007, -1/+5whats wrong with my zune =[
- uberamd, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4At-least. I would say there are more spambots than there are registered members, if thats even possible. Well given the crappy myspace engine I am willing to bed in some strange way it is.
- withoutashovel, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Myspace used to be acceptable, until people began to think being creative meant throwing in so many YouTube videos and pictures with layouts that never match and blind your eyes.
- lordtyros, on 10/19/2007, -1/+590 million of those users are spambots
- MillionsLivio, on 10/19/2007, -1/+5Nothing, I love the Zune, in fact I'm buying the Zune 80 when it comes out. I was implying that being a Zune owner surrounded by ipods is similar to being a person that doesn't like social networking sites in our current society.
- sherwinn, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5It is almost impossible to "network"on myspace. And the 100 million member figure is CRAP. It's mostly spam, or useless people. When I type any of my friends names in facebook search, I'll find them. Everyone has facebook. Nobody uses myspace anymore. And I sure as hell can't type my friends full name in the search and instantly find them.
- HerrEisenheim, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4Psh. It's much easier to stalk via Facebook. I can actually stalk you using your real name.
- prgmctan, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3oh, they can hurt... the other day normal myspace restarted my computer when I tried to click on a link. I hovered over it, the screen kind of spazzed out and then boom, restart.
- BigKopp, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4They need to just create a seperate page connected to each users main page dedicated to a user's applications. I liked Facebook when the profiles weren't so damn cluttered. Now I can't log in without seeing that I've been bitten 15 times by Zombie Ninja Werewolves. Clean it up and I'll be impressed.
- uberamd, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4I would get 2-3 spam friend requests per day, and 5+ messages a day. MySpace is a social networking tool, for TOOLS.
- HerrEisenheim, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4You sure you are thinking about MySpace and not Digg?
- PRlME, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4I think its the other way around...MySpace was out first
- ozid, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2nice job using the myspace phrase of last week. ('...should be sterilized')
- vacuum2440, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4myspace is so dead...they should just pull the plug
- finezapa, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3Change your name to facebook.com while you're at it.
Too little. Too late if you ask me. Facebook is taking the cake. Myspace has been too boring for too long. - yowhat2002, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Too little, too late for me im afraid. This isnt enough for me to go back to myspace from the nice clean looks of facebook.
- dollars5, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4"within a couple of months." - geez, many bloggers including Techcrunch hinted they will Actually be launching it officially this week: ref: http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/10/09/myspace-platf ...
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Hopefully MySpace apps will be that last little push that sends the MySpace servers over the edge, bringing the site down for days and making them finally realize their existing development staff need to be fired. Or perhaps more realistically, they need to actually hire people.
- uberamd, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1... good one. Notice that my account picture for digg is taken outside tool.
- wassim2k, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Title has hints of MySpace in it.
- hollowex, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Any social site that has a large number of users is going to be ugly as most people aren't designers and have horrible taste. If they didn't music and movies and tv wouldn't suck so much as they do either.
- musicfreak87, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1hmm u can change your privacy in your account settings to da that
- RobotKing, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Nice reading comprehension. I think defending anything involves actually defending something? For your weak stab, anyone that can't capitalize or use punctuation must be in grade school. Shoot yourself.
- MtheoryX, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1CAPS-LOCK != a cruise control to awesome.
- ripstuntz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1SWEET!!! So now we can have popups AND sideshows with our annoying ass emo music playing in the background!! YESSSSS
- Saffa, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Have you guys tried the 6 degrees application in facebook (no I'm not the developer of it..), it's got a few million people in it's network. Pretty neat actually
- xxbrighteyed, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I'm glad, because as a teenager in Australia, i have no choice but to use myspace
Personally though, my favourite is Virb - keozen, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1If you've ever done any web design or coding every time you go to a myspace profile a little bit of you dies inside, please don't give them any more tools to make the bad pages.

What is Digg?
