- agentsrecord, on 03/31/2009, -6/+37God, I hate to say this but... I thought Microsoft had better standards then this.
- wheresmclean, on 03/31/2009, -0/+19Don't anger Google, everything you have ever searched for might show up in some random public forum.
- jeremymccurdy, on 03/31/2009, -0/+16Maybe Microsoft will help Myspace limit people from turning their pages into gigantic strobe lights with all those goddamn animated gifs everywhere.
- gcnaddict, on 03/31/2009, -1/+13MySpace doesn't matter.
Then again, Microsoft already has a 15% stake in Facebook, so I guess Microsoft is just covering as many bases as it can. - Ne007, on 03/31/2009, -0/+10Myspace REALLY needs to evolve or die.
Why keep it the same? adapt for ***** sake.
Myspace is like the kazaa of social websites. - jeremymccurdy, on 03/31/2009, -1/+10Microsoft isn't a failure though, a couple crappy products here and there, but far from a failure.
- scarlettletter, on 03/30/2009, -2/+11Millions and millions of people using these social platforms for hundreds of reasons.... I'm very positive people care.
- Atomic1fire, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5Google, more then likely, and maybe facebook.
Microsoft is connecting with myspace,
and myspace was involved in opensocial, a group created by google - imdandman, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5*than
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+6I thinki'm going to go erase my myspace profile. Haven't looked there for about a year anyway. Is it still a big ugly mess that looks like website from the 90's?
- MrTito, on 03/31/2009, -4/+8I don't know, it kinda makes sense. Two companies who, in some cases but not all, appeal to the lowest common denominator...especially in ways that are aesthetically unpleasing. Their counterparts are comparably more minimalist. Not Microsoft bashing, just noting a certain symmetry.
- scy1192, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3Interracial sex women? I'm there!
- marx2k, on 03/31/2009, -1/+4Great, two completely out of touch organizations team up!
- Eorster, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3My thoughts exactly.
- DarkShroud, on 03/31/2009, -1/+4Depends on what people can do with Live Writer.
- TheSkinsFactory, on 03/31/2009, -1/+4What's interesting about all of this is, no matter how big a company is they can be beaten by an upstart. Netscape was the biggest until Internet Explorer took over. Aol was the biggest until others took then down. MySpace was thought to be unstoppable but now Facebook has destroyed them in terms of reach. Google may be the biggest now but that doesn't mean it will last. I find it all very interesting. Just goes to show you Goliath can be beaten by David.
- ST0N3, on 03/31/2009, -4/+7microsoft + myspace = trailer park of the internet.
want to really make some waves? facebook + google. now we're talkin. - MrTito, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3Well, at least the comment spam is taking a humorous turn. I can find out more about Microsoft's standards on an interracial dating site? Do tell...
- PhilMoskowitz, on 03/31/2009, -3/+5Sounds like a match made in Fail.
- winmywii, on 03/31/2009, -2/+4Microsoft will do anything to get silver light installed.
- michael0310, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3And often is.
- Eorster, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3For god's sake my stock... MY STOCK... Ballmer look what are you doing to my STOCK!!
- AsadM, on 04/05/2009, -0/+2They'll save money on advertising by calling it Mycrosoft
- BalancingAct, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2"A company that makes software used and enjoyed by HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS"
They;re used by millions, but not enjoyed. Most people use Microsoft products because they have to, not because they enjoy doing so. - inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3kinda funny you would say that considering Google has a deal with MySpace and Microsoft has a deal with Facebook.
- Lostangel, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1I'm not sure the fat ugly chick gets hotter by contracting herpes...
- UKsHaDoW, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Microsoft make there own standards.
- gcnaddict, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1mm, I was off a decimal pointish.
Doesn't matter. The point is still the same. - a5ph, on 03/31/2009, -5/+6
MySpace? Really? - myanatadesmond, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1What difference will that make ?
- marx2k, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1I stopped reading at "with no problems". So now it's two out of touch organizations and one out of touch digger who had too much coffee.
- audiogeek5, on 03/31/2009, -2/+3So....myspace and microsoft...means my PC will now have annoying flash ads become part of the windows desktop, and no one will be able to watch any of the "MySpace Media" because every time microsoft "updates" their software, everything will stop working.
No really guys! WMA and WMV will be an awesome native format for MySpace! Everyone uses it! - littledictator, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Putting any sort of opinions of relevance of these companies aside, I think this is very interesting move from MS in terms of the silverlight integration. It's all very well posting comments saying "who the hell uses Myspace now anyway?" but the article does point out that it's the still the second largest social network in the world, so by having silverlight integrated pervasively into the site, means that MS immediately boost their market share for the flash rival that nobody thought would get used anywhere, any time quickly! In this sense, I can see what MS are trying to achieve by aligning themselves so aggressively next to these big social networks (considering it's own one is still so dormant and off the radar).
- Lawlmuffin, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1lawl
- tep200377, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Its probably because both Microsoft AND MySpace Sucks big time ...
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2same with Digg.
- vishwajith, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Its not 15%. MS invested about 250M at 15B evaluation. So, it is eval((250*100)/15000) percent.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1I see a lot of bashing of Microsoft and MySpace for bringing MySpace to WinMobile, yet everyone is ignoring the fact that MySpace is already on Android, iPhone, and Blackberry. Microsoft is just doing business, and since MySpace brings in more revenue than Facebook, it's about time they reached out to MySpace.
- lornali, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Should we be prepared for a clash of the titans?
- ww8300, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Ha! This is very interesting and useful information, but I see more related information at:
http://www.marketingworld88.com - Killer_Manbeast, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2The two evils come together at last.
- Killer_Manbeast, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2That's not true. A lot of people use "the newest Windows offering" 15 "minuts" after it is released. But, not a lot of people enjoy it.
Also, you are using and enjoying "Linux" right now. Digg.com = GNU/Linux, YouTube.com = GNU/Linux, Facebook.com = GNU/Linux, Google.com = GNU/Linux, TiVo = GNU/Linux.
More people use and enjoy Google every 5 seconds, than have EVER used Windows, and Mac, combined. - phpirate, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2No, crappy software developer as in why there is a 10 million computer botnet currently in existence that's going to go online in 24 hours.
You can blame the users, but these are security holes in microsoft software, which is clearly not being delt with properly by microsoft. Users are supposed to be stupid, developers are supposed to be smart.
I didn't say anything about linux or apple, so I don't know why it applies, or what "enjoying" a software release has to do with anything. If all you've known is windows, then any new version of windows is obviously going to be "enjoyed". Just like when i take a *****, the next ***** I take will be seemingly enjoyed even more, but the fact is I'm still just taking a *****. - Killer_Manbeast, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2Microsoft Revenue: 60 billion, not 160 billion.
And I can guarantee, MySpace doesn't have more than Microsoft, so still not 160 billion, combined.
Now, Google Revenue: 21 billion.
Facebook Revenue: 300 million.
Yet, Google and Facebook are doing better than Microsoft and MySpace. So, Microsoft and MySpace(Fox), are out of touch. - Kedyn, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2That comment seemed excessive. I bet you're Bill's butt buddy, aren't you?
- ogletree, on 03/31/2009, -1/+1Why would Google cares what goes on at MySpace. Does anybody go there anymore. I know people that brag about having hundreds of accounts. MySpace is MySpam
- Rajtilak, on 03/31/2009, -1/+1Neither Microsoft, nor MySpace ever made any sense to me. Sad but true.
