- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+139MySpace News - News on the happenings of Paris Hilton's crotch every 7 minutes.
(brought to you by 14 year old girls everywhere!") - GreenHeresy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+143Digg definately is going to stay on top as far as the top news sites, just looking at the myspace layout just makes me want to rip my eyeballs out, and myspace being about people sharing there own little peice of "internet" is just the way it's going to stay. Digg Pwns and it's staying that way for a while.
- drmistermaster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+121Something tells me that the top rated articles are only going to be about celebrities getting drunk. I mean...I really don't think MySpace attracts the intelligent crowd.
- latova, on 10/12/2007, -6/+104Only emo news will make it to the front page.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+61MySpace and Digg are populated by very different crowds IMO. Thing is, there isn't nor there will be such thing as a "Digg killer". Digg would either kill itself or continue to thrive, while other sites like coRank may appear with a different proposition that may attract some Digg users, that's all
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56Interesting. The inevitable thing is for Digg to become the MySpace of news. There more popular it gets the more it dumbs down. If you compare the current front page to one from a year ago you'd see the difference. As I understand the trend for Digg is to shed the techie things in favor of Top Ten Paris Hilton Stories. Maybe this MySpace move will actually save Digg from becoming a kiddie news site.
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40MySpace Anything: Sucks?
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39I guess MySpace needed more TRÜE ads on the site.
- ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Please never say "k-rose" again.
- Condottieri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Can you imagine the comment section for this news? I imagine it being filled with porn spam, one word exclamations, and 'omgomg no wai!!1!'
Definitely not a Digg killer. - bramblequest, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Can people that use MySpace actually read?
My favorite song on MySpace is 'Deleted by the artist'. - Sithlrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Top story links on MySpace news:
- Paris Hilton: STILL a stupid spoiled whore
- Britany spears: STILL a stupid crazy former hottie
- Anna Nichole Amith: STILL dead
- Todays list of out-of-the-closet celebs - weprin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I feel like I am committing some sort of personal sin when I type myspace.com into my address bar. I have to go take a shower afterwards.
- joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25digg will have to rely on their non-emo user base in order to stay on top.
- readme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21MySpace is not even Web 1.0 technology. I've never seen such a hacked together pile of crap as MySpace.
- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -10/+30This will NEVER kill digg, i doubt more than 1% of users would even think about using myspace
- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Digg:
Blogspam content = 99%
Your point? - 6ixed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19I don't know about that. Maybe not Myspace, but there are other sites coming along to challenge Digg, and that is certainly disturbing. Though anyway, change is good, because it forces the incumbent in the marketplace to innovate. And maybe I am wrong, but it seems..apparently the Digg Management is acting that they are really not worried about it. They are busy doing all Diggnation Episodes and throwing parties.
The one thing which I have always wondered about is..that the whole Digg thing is based on user feedback and comments. But there's not a single feedback mechanism on the Digg site itself utilizing that feature. I mean, there is nowhere a single permanent blog or feedback page, where users can come and rant and rave about how they would like to see Digg improve or stay as it is.
There're a lot...and I mean a lot of passionate Diggers out there. And they got multitude and variety of ideas, on how they'd like to see Digg change or stay constant. Not all of those ideas may be brilliant or deserve merit, but people can vet and talk about those ideas, to make a positive constructive change (or as I said earlier..stay as it is).
Or maybe the Digg Management is already actively researching those ideas, and this was premature to point out. Or it may be the case, that they are not willing to be receptive to those ideas from Diggers itself, and that is why this certain mechanism of feedback was not built-in in the first place.
Ok, enough of this, and lets enjoy *Digg*ing in the meantime. And I have a pretty good feeling that I going to get dugg down anyhoo for my dumbass comments. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18MySpace will be good at things like Videos, Celebrity News, Fun Stuff, and some other things from this domain, but Tech, Science, Linux, Ubuntu, Apple, Gadgets ... all these will always rule here on DIGG.
- Bahimiron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Oh boy, MySpace News! I can see it now!
In today's top stories: I CUT MYSELF TODAY BECAUSE THE PAIN LETS ME KNOW I AM ALIVE
Now for a clip from Linkin Park! - thephosphorbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Considering that mySpace is a mess of sloppy, slow, glitchy code... I'm not worried for Digg :)
- NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Digg is annoying enough with 25% of the people being 13 yr olds. Why would i want a site where 90% of the people are 13?
- CoSMoSYS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12It's nice to see that the geniuses over at myspace are working on this and not fixing their POS website.
- jcs_goog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12#1) People on MySpace don't read news
#2) People on MySpace aren't as smart as diggers
#3) 95% of all "news" will be MySpace URL's
#4) Tila Tequila will rule MySpace News - 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Welcome to the Brotherhood...
- tcpik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13myspace sucks
- terribly1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Myspace News:

|-Hav U seen th latst Mychem abum????!
|--- Oh ye i cut my self to it evry nite
|------ HAV U SEEN my nood cryin PIX @ isuck.co.nr??? - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Probably a Digg entertainment section killer, but not for anything else like tech, science, or politics.
- phoopee3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Regardless of what we as Digg visitors think, myspace has a hell of a lot more users than Digg does.
- dmsean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Digg is not a "news site". It's people's "view point" on what news they think is popular....
So stfu. - Phssthpok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9If I can reply to a reply of a comment,
I'm THERE! :) - syl1985, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Well, who the ***** cares what MySpace users have to think? I certainly don't. They can stay in their hole and we can stay in ours, the one with good articles not about 'THE LATEST INDIE BAND!?!@?!@#!"
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8News from MySpace will probably just have newsfeeds from:
Bestweekever.com
Idontlikeyouinthatway.com
thesupeficial.com
eonline.com
Maybe for good measure Courtv.com... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12I can already picture the headlines.
"BREAKING: Generic emo whore #34324534 found crying in corner!!!"
"TOP NEWS: Top 10 Tips how to cut your wrists without doing any damage but still coming off as a retard." - nitrusoxyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7MySpace News Headline-----------------
DIGG THIS OR A GHOST WILL COME GET YOU AT NIGHT!
LOL OMG HILLARY PUKED ON SATURDAY!
Which kind of MySpace user are you?
TOM IS CLOSING MYSPACE IF WE DONT DIGG THIS ARTICLE! - PixelVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7those things don't rule on Digg anyway. They're always ruined by fanboys and no decent debate or discussion ever comes of anything. /. is still better for science and technology, and there's many more sites below that that which are better than Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Well, most people on digg are stupid, and most people on myspace are stupid... so it's a true competition.
However, myspace doesn't work 90% of the time. You can't even click on a friend without getting some bizarre server error.
So I doubt it.
Digg will remain home to morons of the internet. - iamasmallgoat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Two things to mention:
1) Anything labeled as a 'killer' is already doomed to fail.
2) Myspace has already shot its load and will stick around, but won't kill anything. - wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I believe that 1) you are appealing to two different demographics with each site and 2) the majority of the MySpace crowd is to into itself to really care about news.
- ziggystardust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7When you say Myspace, people cringe. You say Digg people say "huh?" or "hells yeah!".
I'd put my $ on the latter. - canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5well, poshsuicide seemed to hold that crown for about 5 minutes. but i think the sg site got sick of us pretty damn quickly
- spidermanspants, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11lmao
- redlantern64, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Dugg down as inaccurate. You can't kill Digg. It's The Terminator of news sites.
- fatfinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The day I use myspace for anything is the day I sign up for AOL
- MrTimmay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh wow, another searchjerk link. great, thanks for the spam - see you tomorrow with your new account.
- bwinebarger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6How would this kill digg? The top stories will be about American Idol and Paris Hilton. I don't see how that will draw the crowd away here.
- chefsam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How very "revenge of the nerds-esque" most of these comments are...
In all likelyhood, the percentage of the population interested in celebrity gossip, emo-news, and kiddie fun stuff is equivalent to the percentage of the population that gives a crap about tech, linux-news, ubuntu, and what Steve Jobs ate for breakfast six days ago...
The two groups are, for the most part, mutually exclusive... so this isn't even an issue.
I, for one, use both sites... one in a purely social manner, and the other for user-driven news.
I find it sort of embarrassing how many diggers here are so full of piss and vinegar when it comes to verbally bullying another website.
Grow up. - finezapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Myspace News will end up succeeding.. you know why? Because there's 9823740234 times more people on myspace. Digg has drawn a very specific type of crowd. Myspace is almost everyone (almost). We all know that if the general population is on it.. it will start to draw some media attention. Once it reaches that point.. then that's lmitless from there. I'm a digg fan myself [wearing my digg hoodie].. but i have to admit, this could be a big thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i use both sites, and i will use which ever one is better in the future, but digg wont die because the internet is growing
