Mozilla releases first Firefox 3.1 alpha

arstechnica.com — Mozilla has announced that the first Firefox 3.1 alpha is now available for download. This release, which is codenamed Shiretoko, includes Gecko 1.9.1 and adds a handful of new features.

  • harikaried, on 07/29/2008, -1/+19Firefox 3.1 will let you choose if you want your unvisited bookmarks from showing up in the location bar after clearing your history. You can selectively filter out results by bookmarks, history, tags, title, and url.

    Right now it's more of a power-user feature to quickly narrow down what pages show up, but it also provides the ability to make the Smart Location Bar only match page URLs in your history for those that want more Firefox-2-like functionality.
