- mrfreeziexp, on 01/09/2008, -1/+19I don't think you realize what you just said.. You are for IE domination?
- macatizor, on 01/09/2008, -2/+20Firefox 3 is already fairly strong, so I don't see this being so difficult.
- widgetmaker, on 01/09/2008, -1/+18FF3 is already alot better than 2 imo even without most the extensions I like.
- fkr3, on 01/09/2008, -0/+13Mozilla didn't 'beat' Netscape it was spawned from and funded by it....
- widgetmaker, on 01/09/2008, -0/+12uh dude competition is good no matter what the competitor is.
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -6/+15Awesome. FF will be kicking Opera's ass in no time.
- swoopdog, on 01/09/2008, -2/+11will be?
- JasonCox, on 01/09/2008, -0/+8And how many GoogleDollars is this CEO getting paid? Do we even want to know?
- BinaryFragger, on 01/09/2008, -1/+8http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Corporation
- Jerky1312, on 01/09/2008, -2/+8Firefox has a bigger market share than Opera already. The thing is, Opera being around is actually forcing FF to become better. Opera is very light on memory and if FF really needed to address that with this new release in order to stay competitive. I don't really mind Opera being a quality program, I would just rather support the open source program that is Firefox.
- BinaryFragger, on 01/09/2008, -0/+6In other words, competition is a good thing.
Opera is forcing Mozilla to improve Firefox, and vice-versa.
It's also forcing Microsoft to improve Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 6 did not have any serious competition for several years, and it stagnated. Now they're already reportedly working on version 8. - akkibaba, on 01/09/2008, -1/+6The Mozilla Corporation took in upwards of $52 million last year, mostly from their search engine relationship with Google.
- fkr3, on 01/09/2008, -1/+6Umm, I don't think "internet explorer" refers to anything but IE regardless of capitalisation....
- Sairgem, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4I'm pretty sure 99% of Firefox users abbreviate it as FF. In fact, this is the first time I've ever heard of "Fx". I don't really care what Mozilla says, I will continue using FF.
- renegadeafk, on 01/09/2008, -2/+6Engine and performance are alot faster now. Now they need to really get working on the UI and finishing things like places. This is going to be a great release. Can't wait for the ui refresh making it look native on all platforms.
- ungamedplayer, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4You commited code to mozilla ?
And on another note, what makes you think that npo's and charities can't have a CEO ? They are still a business... - inactive, on 01/09/2008, -6/+10Damn you for getting my hopes up - I thought it was John C. Lilly, coming back from the dead to make a dolphin friendly search engine :(
- FredSpeaking, on 01/09/2008, -1/+4I've been running the nightly builds for personal use for a few weeks now. Very few complaints here.
- caspy7, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3Thunderbird.
Lightning/Sunbird too. - inactive, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3***** that; let's drop acid in the Tank!!!11!!
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -1/+4With Addons, I find FF superior to Opera, no contest. Without, I find Opera edging ahead by a bit, but it's contestable.
When FF3 is finished, I expect it to be the best browser, and it seems like it will be. - inactive, on 01/09/2008, -1/+4dominance over ie, that was the point i was trying to get across :P
- estacado, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2Can he get Evangeline Lilly's autograph for me?
- swoopdog, on 01/09/2008, -2/+4I am digging you up because those were my thoughts as well.
- Jerky1312, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Yes.
- Jerky1312, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Not so much a departure, but a change of positions. She's going to be the Chairwoman of Mozilla instead of the CEO, while John Lilly is going to be CEO instead of COO. The transition will probably not effect the release of FF3. It's not like the CEO was fired a new guy was brought on the boat. You would think they have enough confidence in this move that they aren't even worried about the release of the new version being disrupted because of this. If they did think otherwise, they could have simply waited until after the release.
I have absolutely no worries about the release of FF3 because of this news. - Jerky1312, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Both were in the organization already, they are just changing positions with Mozilla.
- TheSpook, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Probably work on Trident.
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Did you mean 'within'?
- MrPig, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Same here- most extensions work. Download and add the "Nightly Tester Tools" extension to disable the "version blocking" on the extensions. Adblock, No Script, Grease Monkey and more work fine.
- Leiterfluid, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Because the departure of a key executive before a major software release is always a good sign.
- Fox318, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2Yeah. I love the new build. I just wish more extensions were working with 3.
- zdislaw, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1I do web consulting for non-profits and have yet to work with one that didn't have a CEO. The title CEO has nothing to do with whether you are non-profit on for-profit.
- andycr512, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1No, it's not. I still haven't understood people saying it freezes. Maybe 2 does, but 3 is much better anyway. I run the nightly build version - the least stable version - and it crashes maybe once every couple days at most, and never freezes or slows down in the least.
- thetin, on 01/09/2008, -1/+1I don't care. Give me faster loading firefox!
- crossers, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0I think it must be much faster Firefox yes?

- lex0nyc, on 01/09/2008, -3/+2What is the Mozilla Mail project?
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -3/+1Bring me a _light_ version of firefox and I'm all for this guy :D
- moocow1452, on 01/09/2008, -4/+2Uncapitalized ie, so it's general internet software.
Unless it's dominance over Internet Explorer. - swoopdog, on 01/09/2008, -6/+2whats a IE?
- widgetmaker, on 01/09/2008, -6/+2dugg for randomness.
- jcap, on 01/09/2008, -6/+1I've noticed over the past few days in all of the Firefox articles hitting the front page that people have been abbreviating Firefox as FF. While I hate getting anal and sounding like a know-it-all dick, I hate seeing people continuously screw up, especially when it comes to names. The CORRECT abbreviation for Firefox is Fx, NOT AS FF. Mozilla Corp. has said themselves that Firefox is abbreviated Fx:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# How do I capitalize Firefox? How do I abbreviate it?
Only the first letter is capitalized (so it's Firefox, not FireFox.) The preferred abbreviation is "Fx" or "fx".

- tuzziel, on 01/09/2008, -9/+2CEO ??!?
Last time I checked Mozilla is nonprofit or charity..... no? So it is corporation now..? or what the hell is going on there?
Don't say that another upper-class management mofo is awarded millions for our code donated for free!! My head is going to crash and reboot now... - elvenseven, on 01/09/2008, -8/+1...
- simism, on 01/09/2008, -10/+1Mozilla can do no wrong... Netscape down, IE to go!
- JusticeAK, on 01/09/2008, -12/+2Is that why my firefox always freezes.
- inactive, on 01/09/2008, -21/+6Whatever it will take for internet explorer domination!
