- wilf_brim, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2I don't see how this is going to help matters. Moto has serious problems in the mobile phone field: they don't have any particularly innovative products, they are effectively shut out of the (very profitable) high end, and other makers like LG and Samsung have better middle and lower end offerings. Maybe this is a way to more effectively sell off their mobile phone business?
- superpixel, on 03/26/2008, -1/+2wilf, it isn't going to help. it isn't really intended to help. it is intended to save Brown's dumb ass from early retirement so he can eke out another few hundred mill before being ***** with a rosy golden parachute and eventually blaming it all on the engineers. America can't seem to innovate a new way to screw up a former tech behemoth, it would seem. same story as usual, ad nauseum (even the parts about outsourcing and extravagant jets).
- typicalusername, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1You can also argue that the devision of radio and tech wants to separated from a fledgling cell phone division. Motorola still gets tons of government contracts providing everything from radios to the military, swat, and emergency services. Still rake in a ton of money from those angles. Also, lest we forget, the Razr was one of the most selling phones a few years go. So, I wouldn't be burying Motorola just yet, even with a split.
